Thank you lady robot
Being married to him would be no hardship. He’s hot as hell and treats her so well we should all be so lucky to have dads force us to be with guys like that lol 😂
Her father didn't force her. He protected her. And it turns out, her father was spot on.
Actually, the father did force her. Has his comments at the beginning of the movie from the reflection in the window about she made the choice now she has to live with the consequences. And how can I be spot on for a man to abandon his wife and ignore his daughter because his wife is dying. That borders on cruelty. It was Ray, who was spot on when he said that their relationship would work because one day she would forgive herself for what she has done. The final piece of the puzzle was when she saw her friend the young Asian girl, getting ready to make a terrible mistake like she had when she was trying to aid the German escaped prisoner, that she knew she had to help her to protect her so she wouldn’t ruin the rest of her life. Ray misunderstands when she says, she ruined her life that it wasn’t meant to be an insult against him when she was crying for her mother but instead, it was all her plans, and all of her education is now going to be lost, but it may not be the worst thing in the world.
⁵😅⁰
Father didn't care what happened to her. Pure luck that her husband was a good man.
He still forced her she loved someone else.
Yep, she spent all her value in one night, worse she cannot even cook. She is still in love with her chad ex. Lucky for her simps still exist, even back then because this woman is about as low value as it gets for a man.

I have ancestor who did something similar. His wife had a baby outside marriage (this was the 1700s) and he married her after the baby was born. They made it work and had 5 other kids together. He sadly died 12 years after they got married from exhaustion.
Wait a minute... I thought men where just enjoying life and chilling out while women where slaving away?
@@PeturMag 😂 ig not anymore buddy..🤭🤣
My grandmother (father’s mother) died 1933, we use to say exhaustion. My father was 3, and she had a still born girl one year earlier. She apparently never recovered from the birth, leaving her widowed husband, who never remarried and 3 boys. On my other side, my great grandfather drowned while barging a log boom (drowning), leaving a widow and 9 children in a 3 room shack. The widow did not speak the language. People just do not know how lucky they are and the efforts of those that went before, the shoulders upon who they stand.
@@PeturMagdepends on who you are on the social ladder. No upper or middle class man would have died due to exhaustion unless he was a workaholic. Most women were absolute slaves to housework and childbirth unless they could hire people to help. Couples of lower income both often died of exhaustion.
We don't live in a black and white world and to act as though we do is either disingenuous or ignorant.

Love this Hallmark movie. Would have loved a continuation focusing on the Japanese sisters finding their places in society.
I'm just astonished that they made a movie that had Japanese American Internees as additional characters (usually any film focuses on the internment itself). That was a surprising and delightful detail. It's a piece of history that sadly rarely gets any stories.

A farmer throwing things away?
I will believe that when he goes to a doctor without being dragged by his wife
My grandfather had a 100 year old two man saw in the rafters of his garage that needed a new handle. I don't know how long it's been a hundred years old
. Just that grandfather was born in 1905 and the house was built in the 1840s. And to be honest I think it's been a hundred years old since my father was a child in the 50s. So me might be able to call it the two hundred year old two man saw for all I know. And I pretty sure my family might have owned a small glass jar of paint that has mercury in it. No one opened that jar of paint because no one wanted to get poisoned. It still sits on a shelf.
Real love is wanting what's best for the other. Ray loved her like that because he's a truly good and decent man. And then he was blessed to fall in love with her as well. And then, after she realized how she had made the earlier bad choice to be with the flyboy who she barely knew, she forgave herself and accepted Ray's love and fell in love with him too. Beautiful love story. No manipulation, no selfishness, no impatience or overthinking. Over time and with both behaving decently towards the other, problems worked themselves out.
I don't think she's actually over Edward. She kept pining for him, sending all those letters. If he ever changed his mind and returned, she'll ditch Ray in a heartbeat.
@user-ql4dw1dt2r
That's the bitter reality that film conveniently chose to not talk about.
It was a sweet Hallmark story ❤😊. Ray turned out to be a blessing for her and her unborn child. Truly a sweet man
I love this. This is an absolute masterpiece.
This is a very good show. The conversation at Thanksgiving dinner let’s you know her father was a cold, heartless man who expected Livie to care for her dying mother, which she did. The father was a minister who didn’t want the embarrassment of a pregnant daughter. She grows to love Ray but doesn’t believe she deserves him. It all turns out good in the end. A movie we’ll worth watching.
It is a very good movie
This is a great film really enjoyable
I loved the movie. The first time I watched it, she seemed so arrogant and deceptive, contacting the baby's father behind her husband's back, I disliked her. But the second time, I noted how she was from a higher 'class' than a farmer, and her sister was even more arrogant and an awful influence, yet her husband was so sound and grounded, it was HIS sister whom I really admired. Very tender extended family on his part and there's an exact moment when she realizes how patient they have been with her. She gains genuine humility to embrace the chance she has been given, keeping her child and having a loving marriage.

In the movie, she's gorgeous, he's handsome, it could have been so much worse. He has a nice, clean house, good manners. She's not actually forced & neither is he. They both, could have made different choices.
I think Ray got the really short end of the stick tbh. On top of that, she'd abandon him in the future if Edward ever comes back.
@@user-ql4dw1dt2r Most likely, Livvie was just a sexual fling & Edward moved on mentally, emotionally as he had gone to fight in the war. He had no investment, no attachment, no feeling for Livvy, so, he even questioned whether he was the father of their baby.
Most likely even on the very small chance that Edward did do the work to find Livvy & the child he donated the sperm, for, he probably would have his own family & take an "oh, well" attitude like so many guys do.
It's the practice of sperm spreading that has made so much money for Planned Parenthood. Spawned, if you will, an entire profitable industry in DNA testing, finding out who peoples parents are, mostly, figuring out which guys sperm created them.
There's your answer.
@@FreeSpirit47Edward was a flight instructor who didn’t fight in the war. Livy realizes she’s been duped, she feels guilty for being so stupid. Ray wanted a family- he didn’t get the short end of anything. He understood Livy’s situation and chooses compassion over condescension. He knew that eventually Livy would forgive herself and let her guard and allow herself to be loved and happy again.
@@christina678 Thank you, I didn't catch that Edward had been a flight instructor. Edward seemed to not care much about Livvy. Besides, at the point that Livvy did receive a letter from Edward, she was married.
As an unwed woman, becoming pregnant was a shame & a scandal *at the time*. If Edward did come around, Livvy was already married. A divorce was even more ostracizing than an unwed pregnancy.
It seems, by the end of the movie, they did love each other & Ray accepted the child as his own. Loving someone, being a family, having a happy life together is about more than being blood related.

It's fiction. And a bad one.
If all love is to you is an emotion, then you are 100% correct. If love is actually a verb and something you do, then you are 100% wrong.

I really like horror movies like this.
Walk away men if this happens in real life she didnt like ray, she settled for him since the other dude didnt want to take responsibility, dont go for women who are just settling for you, you will mostly be unhappy in that relationship
I agree marriage should be love not for someone settling for someone, but we also have to remember to that it was different back in those days, women can have children out of wedlock in most countries and no body thinks any of it , and we also have to remember that in some countries and some cultures that is thier customs to have the parents choose who they marry , and so they don't bring shame to their families they agree to get married i forget exactly what Indian tribe it is but the chief daughter makes his daughter Marry the best indian warrior in the tribe, and it used to be the Jewish tradition that a match maker would go the girls father house and say this man wants your daughters hand in marriage and both men would meet and talk if the father agreed to the marriage then they would shake hands and have a toast and his daughter couldn't reject to it because it was tradition some times the girl would be 16 and the guy would be 60 ,I couldn't imagine it that is horrible, but it happened, and some gypsy cultures ,they had a match maker,or the father chose thier daughters husbands , and back in the day Father's would choose thier daughter to marry the king no matter how wicked he was, and in some cultures women had to marry thier own cousins, our history is very dark ,im glad men got a say in the most part,it was mostly young women who were forced into marriages and I don't think most of them were happy
Yes, let's put down the woman and ignore the trifling man who did her dirty. Your insecurities are showing.
@@LilliLamour I don't know if that comment was for me or not but if it was for me I was explaining that back then it was looked down apon for a woman to be pregnant out of wedlock it's not like that any more in most countries now and I was explaining how some cultures the father's chose his daughter husbands ,I'm glad that some of those traditions are not around any more for the girls sake I wouldn't want to get married to a 60 year old man at the age of 16 ,I didn't even want to leave home at that age I loved being home with my family, I am sure that those father's thought they were doing what was best for their daughters making sure that they would be provided for, but I am sure some of those cried and pleading with thier father's please don't make me marry him father, when I think about it that way it makes me feel bad for them,I'm not insecure I just try to put my self in thier shoes ,I don't want a match maker trying to hook me up with a old man

@@jenniferfloyd9179 you are talking about a completely different social issue and situations miss, in this movie the man knows that the girl is pregnant, girl knows that she loves her ex and he wont accept her, she has an option to walk out earlier(definitely not oppressed here), but continues to two time ray while sending "please take me back" letters to ex, kind of shitty for ray dont you think?, my original comment is only about similar situation in real life, what you are talking about being forced in a marriage is a different social evil that is not involved in the context of my original comment

The movie had a happy ending, but the book was realistic, and just made you feel "Ugh!" at the end. Another rare "movie was better than the book" situation.
What happened in the book?
@ErenDenizMert It's been a little over 20 years, but if I remember correctly, the girls from the Japanese internment camp were actually arrested for treason, and the German boy shot while trying to escape. The farmer/husband was actually quite a bit older than the main character. She just became comfortable and complacent in the life she had. It seemed exciting, then fizzled out at the end. I just remember being very disappointed.

She wears make-up everyday in the movie, a farmer's wife plays dress-up and wearing make-up? Does she understand that she is supposed to do house keeping, cooking and farming?
@siewheilou399 No, she doesn't realize that. She's a city girl. It seemed as if it was always her intention to leave the farmer. But in the end, she does realize what it means to be a farmer's wife, which is why it is called "The Magic of Ordinary Days."

These are the type of movies that should be shown on the big screen. They are beautifully crafted and show folk how to treat each other with love and compassion and that given time , many wounds of the heart can heal but first we need the be show that we are loved and cherished as we are, not as society would demand of us.
Only person getting benefits here is the single mother.
@@SahilSharma-ug7xv I will have to disagree with you. The young man through his actions through their journey showed himself to be quietly strong and loving towards her as a person and a clearly a person who had clear views on how to treat folk and be treated by those around him. By your comment it may imply he was an emotional idiot who some how manipulated to marry her. In providing the young woman a quiet warm strength around her, gave her room to deal with her circumstances and make decisions that would be based on truth and understanding rather than judgement and demand as was demonstrated by her own family. Such quiet strength demonstrated by both men and women towards each other these days is challenging to find in a culture that thrives on self righteousness and judgement of others. He was by geographical isolation was experiencing trouble finding a single woman to court and marry and by marry the young woman he was able to meet this need and share he strengths both morally and emotionally with someone who needed such a person. She in return provided companionship and a woman's touch to the young man's life. Together they were able to grow together and form a loving bond of trust and love, creating a strong family unit to welcome the new born. In essence both the man and woman and the child was receiving something beneficial and desirable from the relationship although the manner in which it came about could be considered unorthodox
