Glad I bought my MiniMoog and Sub 37 a few years back. I wouldn’t trust the quality control at all going forward, if the lines of their decent synths will even exist further on. Kinda sad I never got a chance to get a One, but it’s probably more synth than I would ever need so, not an utter disaster.
@@towerrunner4675 Also Kdenlive works on Windows and has an Intel Mac Version that can run in Rosetta which is a good video editor. I mostly use Macs for audio production because of Logic. But if I have PC the get Linux. I've always enjoyed the open source community and they have made some real progress over the last 5 years so hopefully in the future I can switch entirely but for now I'm still just a worm in an Apple. 🍎🪱
Moog/Inmusic is really going counter to the current trend in North American manufacturing. Many companies are reshoring after dealing with supply chain issues for years now as well as the instability due to the potential China/Taiwan conflict. I hope the laid off Moog employees will find new work soon.
I feel like ProTools is only maintained a bit of relevancy because they struck a deal in the early days to get their software into schools. I’ve talk to older engineers that stand by it being the best choice for live audio but the truth is every daw literally sounds the same with the only difference being the algorithm for the in-house plug-ins. I remember building my home studio a few years ago, I wanted to buy ProTools, but found out they moved to subscription only but at this point FL studio is all I really need.

This is an important detail because it’s the reason for the Moog layoffs and moving to cheaper production overseas in this case. Their shareholders and board of directors EXPECT a return on their investment in the form of either dividends or bonuses. If you’ve kept an eye on the gaming industry lately you would have seen a similar development with the Unity game engine. If Behringer was as bad, they wouldn’t have passed their savings onto the customer the way they do now. At least that’s a plus.

in terms of the spatial audio shit they make it the choice by default when you first get airpods so i believe that’s the reason. spatial audio more than not sucks unless the engineer mixed it in that context.

Somehow I doubt a huge conglomerate with a shady past bought a classic brand with extreme name recognition out of the goodness of their hearts. I mean Capitalism basically dictates that you say your investment is a self-less humanitarian mission rather than a cash grab. Cuz PR is a thing. I choose to believe workers over billionaires though. I guess I just relate more to that side of the struggle.

Having owned different moog Voyagers at different times with different issues, i hope the ' fresh out of the box' quality control had improved in the last deacde before this takeover. I'm assuming it did, as their catalogue of products had become sizeable, including the rebuilt classic modulars, all of which will now hopefully become great investments I can remember ringing them up directly when needing tech support and was put through to mike adams and amos gaines. Both were super helpful and very friendly. My issue was resolved within a week, via them having the then U.K distributor (arbiter, IIRC), swap my unit out for a new one; that's what i call superb customer service.

Products being made in China isn’t the issue. Most products, even higher end luxury, are outsourced. The issue is that they will use the cheaper labor costs to cut corners as much as possible. The corporation could easily maintain the quality with a proper funding and development model, while still benefitting from significantly reduced costs. But they won’t, because profit is put over quality with these fools. I just hate that people use China as the scapegoat when it’s OUR companies who set the standard. China simply supplies what these clowns demand. I feel so sorry for the former employees though. It was purely passion for much of them. Unions are very important for labor protection. Unchecked corporate boards are so damned exploitative. If actual musicians, synth designers, and syth enthusiasts had a say, we’d sacrifice so much to honor the brand’s legacy and what it means to the community. At the same time, if they turn to selling digital products, they are beyond dead. They are not competing with the competition, not even in ten years, they will be a step behind and second rate. They better be cooking up something exceptional that carries the weight of Moog’s legacy or they’re done. Man, why did Moog have to sell out to THEM of all entities. One of the worst decisions in music business history HANDS DOWN.

Ya, Pro Tools be doing some goofy stuff! They used to have the Joe Meek compressor. Joe Meek was a pretty popular producer and helped invent many popular recording methods we use today (along with many other things music-related). Anyway, the dude murdered somebody then killed himself. He went crazy! Thought all his friends and family were trying to steal his musical ideas/inventions/songs/etc... It's a pretty crazy story. Anyway, years later they finally mass-produced some of the hardware he was working on and it became somewhat popular. You can find it all over the used market. So Pro Tools modeled some of this hardware and included them as stock plugins back in the day hahaha!!!!! They used to say the plugins were cursed 😂

Honestly, I feel that this is more a case of “Moog Screwed Moog.” Than anything else. The company was seriously lacking consistent innovation. While I appreciate the barebones and raw mono synths they were coming out with, we had synths from Sequential, Korg and Arturia that were trying new things in the analog realm. Moog could have easily sone a four voice poly synth based on the Sub 37...but they didn’t. They could have started to incorporate digital effects...but they didn’t. Not until they did the unobtainable Moog One. Then followed it up with....the Grandmother. Meanwhile we have Arturia doing morphing analog synthesizers. The problem is Moog put more effort in political discussions rather than synth discussions. “We are discontinuing the Moogerfoger pedals....BUT you’ll be happy to know we are doing a show with absolutely no male performers! Yay!”

Afinity photo is the best photoshop alternative and its around 100 bucks, almost identical to photoshop actually
