As a customer, and as someone who loves all the kits you make it's extremely sad for me to see things winding down on the sales side of things. So many kits that I regret not buying and so many projects that I may not get to finish But as a fan of your work I love that you're going to be focusing on what you love doing I'll try to order what I can before the end of financial year. It won't be as much as I want, and it certainly won't be as much as you deserve
Has it really been 13 years already? You were one of the first wargaming/scenery channels on TH-cam back in the day! I look forward to seeing you rekindle your passion and art.
Peace of mind is priceless. Love the idea of renewal, moving on from that which no longer serves you, recognizing new opportunities, and reuniting with fun.
Hey Viv. This really brought out the feels. I cried watching you cry, haha! You and Battle Bunker have been a big part in my hobby journey. For that I'd like to say thanks. Stay positive.
Viv, I have been watching your videos for a decade and you have provided tons of inspiration to me over that time. I wish you all the best in the future and hope the Knights of Dice and all of your projects keep going in some form. Your enthusiasm and creativity continues to amaze me. As a thought, if you might consider possibly selling your IP / MDF patterns as a subscription service or through your web store. I would gladly pay for the right to print your designs on my own laser cutter. Being in the USA, I would love to be able to print your designs and avoid to the international shipping hassles. Your designs are some of the best on the market. Hope you will consider that as an option. Keep on ramblin' and I'll be waiting for more future updates!
It is something I have considered, we'll see where that goes in the future. Obviously with any release of digital assets for home production there is a risk of piracy, but I guess that seems to be par for the course these days with so much digital work be produced and made available.
@@KnightsOfDice Thanks for the reply! I appreciate all that you have done. I started watching back when you started brewing beer in the back on Rubbish In Rubbish Out. I'm not a big commenter, but I have probably watched every video you have produced. I've especially enjoyed your late night videos when you are clearly fired up on a creative burst. By the way, I placed my first order on Knights of Dice and I look forward to finally building some great terrain. Thanks, mate.
My heart goes out to ya Viv. From what I've observed on the outside you gave and gave and gave well beyond reasonable means, and I totally understand if you burned out. Covid impacts were hard enough to manage with 1 business let alone 2! Keep your chin up, and enjoy taking the foot off the gas for a moment to regather your passions.
You're such a solid geezer, Viv. Brave, determined, creative and above all, honest. Wish you all the best on life's journey. Cheers for being a total legend
I am really sorry to hear about this. I know a lot about the burnout I’ve been dealing with it for the last few years . I really hope things work out for you at Quantas . BIG HUGS !
Good for you Viv! I mean that! You have to set yourself first, and as you say the current situation gives you way too much stress for doing something that you do not really love. Looking forward for your next adventure. Cheers from Denmark
It must have been a difficult decision, but I feel it was the right one for you. I wish you the very best in your new job and hope that your passion for gaming and creating is rekindled.
Really love the Chinatown MDF kits that I use for Fistful of Kung Fu and I will be putting in my order shortly to complete my Old Town. Best of luck with the new job and I hope you are able to continue putting up TH-cam content to let us know how you are doing. Hopefully now you can get a game in every now and then.
Viv, totally understand, glad that you will still be creating and rambling and we will get to go along on that journey. Looking forward to whats next. Cheers!
You've had an AMAZING impact on so many of us over the years, Viv. Everytime i put together my many KOD kits on the table and watch a world burst forth in front of my eyes, it is your passion that provided the key. I always felt welcomed in your studio and can't wait to buy more kits before the doors close. But they will open again and it will be an utter joy to see you manifest that unconquerable joy and hope in your heart. Thank you deeply for everything you've done for us.
still use my carnival set to this day, had it for a few years, youve made amazing products man, best of luck to the future, hope you rediscover your passion, ive lost mine, waiting for that spark again, miss it
sorry to hear mate, you have been a great friend to the hobby, and a great friend in real life, i wish you all the best for the future, and please keep some element of yourself in the hobby world!!!!
First LukesAPS and now this, a lot of people who kept me in this part of the hobby are tapping out of youtube. One of the first videos which made me want to make things was the Tau terrain video from over a decade ago. Thanks Viv.
Wow... that's... a lot. Still, a change is as good as a rest, so they say. And no one is more deserving of a proper rest than you. Good luck, Viv! Can't wait to see what you do next!
I had a feeling this was coming. And honestly as much as it might sound like you're trying to convince yourself a bit that it's for the best. I honesty think it's a blessing in disguise. I of course wanna see you succeed in whatever you want to do, but i think an art studio (and at least for now a steady paycheck) is exactly what you need. My input would be to like make it modular and changeable so you can focus on different t things that currently fits your passion. I also would love to actually see more of you and others work together. För example i told Trent that i wanna see you guys when you are actually working on stuff (i don't care about what as I mentioned before. I just love to watch your passion and you really brighten my mood everytime I see you (even when i can see the silent tears behind the smile sometimes... Think you would have spotted the same on someone like me)) Where was i. I'm always rambling in my comments. 😅. Yes Trent told me to make sure you also Kew i wanna see more of you guys btw 😂. Yes right. I think you will thrive if you're not locked down with longtime commitments to specific things. I really want you to be able to just do whatever. I have a hard time watching streams but I would like to catch some vods many, where are you streaming? Also definitely gonna buy my man a coffee (ho early not into kits, just lov you my man (does that sound creepy in context to my ramblings then I'm sorry 😂❤) Hope to see more of you my man. Edit: oh yes also i really appreciated your response to my comment last time (yep i fully expect you to remember that amongst all your comments even though I kinda can't keep track of where I wrote it 😂😅) anyway. Loveya❤
Ps: kinda trying to figure out that coffee thing. Would love to buy you a coffee or two, but can't really afford the 50$ "shipping" 😂 so i might be a dumdum but do you have a way around that i would appreciate it 😊
Viv, mate, such a good decision- so hard to make, I’m sure. Loved being a (admittedly small) KoD customer! Thank you for your insights, honestly, the laughs, the tears. I’m excited for your next adventure Viv - Bonne chance 👍👍
I seemed to have been logged into one of my old profiles when I left this - thanks for everything you have given us over the years, Viv. I’ll never forget the first time I saw KoD kits at Little Wars - mind blowing.
Really sorry to hear that you’re facing these challenges, Viv. I’m a huge fan of your MDF kits, genuinely the best I’ve ever built. I hope the next chapter brings some positive changes for you mate.
Thank you for making memories with my gaming group. I had collected just a few Legion minis while we were figuring out our own financies. I followed your channel and browsed your website frequently like an eager child looking through a Christmas catalog. "Someday, I'll get something cool from this store." When a new job came along, I spent a chunk of that first paycheck on a big order from your store. This last week, the assembled terrain saw the tabletop for the first time and we had a blast. I'm heading over to the site again to put in another order. I hope it helps make things easier while you find whats next, or, at least buys a couple coffees. Cheers!
Best of Luck on your new venture Viv! Life changes for us all and we have to do what is needed to be done in order to survive. The Hobby changes and so do the needs of the industry. NOW !! You'll be able to get back into the scene with new ambitions and desire. Cheers and Happy Modeling.
Two legends getting day jobs at the same time? We are in a dire state crafting brothers and sisters. Glad to hear you are excited for the change and I hope the joy comes back.
Mate, I've got a number of your kits and they've all been a pleasure to put together. I'll be sad to see them go, but we all get burnout after a time. Enjoy the new job and projects, hope that if life treats you well you can pick up KoD again full time somewhere in the future.
TH-cam has decided that this is the first of your videos to recommend to me. I had no idea your company existed, I have looked at your website today and there are so many great terrain kits. I'm going to try to get some before they disappear.
Best of luck with the future Viv. You are truly an awesome fella and watching your videos over the past few years has always been interesting and entertaining. I’m looking forward to seeing where you go next as it’s sounds awesome. I once had the honour of meeting you at Salute and you’re truly a top bloke. So all the best and keep looking forwards and roll with those dice mate. All the best James
Thank you for your many years of entertainment and tabletop support! Your kits helped me progress my hobby from a casual player within my gaming community too the “Terrain Guy” within my small community. I thank you for all the inspiration you have given me and for all the terrain conversations I’ve forced upon you at conventions (PAX 2018 & 2019). I can’t wait to make my last order at KoD and follow your future! All the best for everything, Daniel Evers
Thank you Daniel. I'm so pleased I could be, in a very small way, a part of your community and the levelling up of your station to "Terrain Guy", hehe. Thanks for your support!
Best wishes to you and the crew. I look forward to the seeing the new ventures grow and develop. Many thanks for your supreme effort in lifting the gaming environment, both in your extremely high quality product and in your honest and very positive vibe.
Viv. All the best for your new life direction, You ( I really struggled with what to say at this point) You have been an inspiration for me with your videos and all the wonderful kits you make, My table tp will be a sadder space for now on. I have always admired your energy and love for the hobby and look forward to seeing more videos with your wonderful rambles and brilliant terrain.
Lets see where this path takes you mate. Change is scary but also exciting and is how we grow. We'll be with you in this journey. Onwards and upwards!!!
Oh I saw this earlier today, but I was afeared to actually watch it, but then I noticed how long the video was, and it was perfectly timed to take me to when I need to start preparing my dinner.
I haven’t bought a ton of your kits but I’ve been a big fan of all of it. Hopefully I can grab a few things before the end/not end but I’m glad that you’re taking care of yourself and moving on to new things. All the best and good luck!
Viv as a long time follower I enjoy and hope to continue to enjoy the content that you have put out. I am looking forward to what you might have in store in the future.
It's the right decision Viv, but a hard one. Thanks for all your great products that have enhanced so many peoples games. PS: If you need to get your gaming bug mojo back just pick your favourite minis and just stare at them for a while, should help. Family time is also good medicine. :)
I’m excited for you Viv. I have been a fan of your content for years. I saw you at Arc40k this year but never got a chance to say hi. Looking forward to see what the next phase of hobby is like :)
Change, and evolving is always hard. As someone who has had a lot of what we'll call 'learning experiences' these last few years myself, I feel your pain, I also feel your excitement, and I feel the weird guilt/anxiety/grief/hope/relief at both, and the constellation of stops in between. You're one of the good ones Viv, the kind of man I try to be in my own life.
I’m not crying, your crying. I have loved your videos since waaaay back in the Rubbish In Rubbish out days and will continue to watch any videos you put up, hope to see some when you get back into it.
Devastated to hear this mate. Hope your future endeavours work out for you and hope we get to see you at events playing games in the not too distant future
Best of luck out there! COVID has destroyed many things out there but as you say, the only constant in life is change. You seem like an amazing person, and I bet you have amazing things in your future!
You are sooooo creative Viv I know that where life takes you next you will take that creativity along on the journey ❤❤❤. I’m planing a order in the next few days an would like to send you a pic of a painted building of yours I did a couple years ago. I really hope that what you do next is Great for you!
I look forward to seeing the pictures! I'm not very active on the Discord (at the moment! That will change!) but feel free to drop them there or send via Facebook
I was so sorry to watch this tonight. Respect, you have inspired and helped so many gamers and modelers. I have quite a lot of your kits, some still unmade. You have put so much into this hobby here in Oz, so thank you. Glad to see your new plans and I wish you well. I will try to order a few more kits, before July. Look after yourself. BTW your charity campaign a year or so back, inspired me to get back into this hobby, thank you Viv.
Thank you for everything you’ve done, Viv. For the entertainment, hobby knowledge, great products, and always keeping it real and transparent. I’ve always found these vids very insightful. Certainly not a waste from this perspective :) Hoping things look up for you moving forward and excited to see what you get up to next, now that you can focus back on the more fun and creative aspects of our hobby. Will pick up some final kits soon. 🙏
I'm looking forward to seeing more Viv terrain projects in future (especially that Mordheim project), and more video rambles! You've built a lot of amazing things over the years, and you'll have an artist's studio with a truly impressive range of tools available. Good luck navigating the changes ahead, and thanks for all the terrain inspiration over the years.
Really sad to hear this Viv but I do know what you mean about burning out. The same happened with me. I wish you the best for the future and I'll no doubt see you around the traps. (P.S. I also wondered whatever happened with all those sculpts and moulds that you bought from me).
I'm very sorry to hear all this mate, at least you are doing all this on your own terms. Stress and burnout will eat you alive if you don't get on top of it so I'm glad you are, covid burnout pushed me out of nursing. I'm sure you know this, but KoD made great stuff, had excellent customer service, and will be greatly missed by all who knew of it. Thanks Viv!
Hey man I just found your site, and I love your designs! So sorry to hear your closing down - i wish you the best! Will you consider selling the digital design files in the future?
Thanks for making this video. I am in the midst of my own personal; "closures" and I took a few things away from this 1) It's ok to close 2) Have a positive attitude 3) Take a break until your love returns (or doesn't) Thanks and be well.
Love you, brother. You have been, and will always be, a business inspiration, to me. In addition, you are always entertaining, you're enthusiasm is infectious, and you're genuinely a good person. I will continue to watch along, to whatever you bring us. I'm glad you'll be in a much less mental job; I'm sure you need the brain rest. Looking forward to the new look for the hangout and creative space. I wish you absolute happiness, mate I'll still be seeing you, as you adventure through the 'Verse. Cheers
Can't have been an easy decision mate, but burnout's a beast and I think you picked the best path to regroup and get that Viv energy back. Can't wait to see what you make!
Not going to say I'm surprised but I'm in a different position to most I've gone out of my way to learn more about this little hobby industry. I've spoken at length to or personally know many MDF cutters and I've seen the the price of operations grow both personally, emotionally with rising cost of goods and ofcourse shipping cutting margins to near untenable levels. I honestly thought it was odd you didn't take the chance to sell the business as an ongoing concern a few years ago. But that's a pretty big everything is better in hindsight statement. Covid ultimately ended my business as well for many the same reasons even though we saw ourselves through the hardest times you can't always ask someone honestly to buy your business and put value to that hard work. I'll keep using my Viv designed and manufactured terrain alongside my many other pieces. Infact just had a game on it last weekend with the kids they really love the desert terrain you designed. Best of luck with the new position on-boarding is always the hardest part especially for people like us who are so often self made but I'm sure you will smash it! Stay safe mate. 👍
Well crap, I have to say I am sorry to hear this....but I can tell you I went through the same thing during the down turn in '09-10'. You will eventually recover, it will suck...it will take longer than you want...but it WILL be fine and better for it. Honestly as a caster and model maker for over 25yrs I can say I was NOT a fan of mdf kits in gaming....UNTIL I saw yours. Your stuff was always a cut above imho...I truly mean this, wish you all the best, your bro in O-hi-O USA!! p.s.-due to the sad news I refuse to like this video, and look forward to the next vid!! (which I swear I'll smash the beans outta that like button)
Best of luck with the new Venture Viv. The wargames business world has changed a lot over the Covid period. This year we are past our pre bookings pre Covid already, so people are coming back out to support our small businesses again. Attended Partizan in the UK this weekend and numbers were the biggest ever. Look forward to your new stuff Cheers Matt French Wargame Holidays “Walk the battlefield in the morning, Wargame in the afternoon”
The webstore will be open to orders until 30th June, and after that, it will be opened periodically when I have time to run a 'made to order' limited-time sale kind of thing.
On purely selfish level- noooo! I just got into the batman game and was planning on voting one each of the sentry city buildings over the next few years to make a whole table. On a grown up level - good for you. Hope everything works out, viv.
Never fear, once things have settled down I will be running time-limited, "made to order" specials each month when I have the time. Thanks for your support!
Its very sad to here that Knights of Dice are stopping manufacturing, really love your MDF terrain, will you move into 3D printed terrain manufacturing? I think as well as COVID, the up take by players of 3D printers here in Australian miniature game market (for printing miniatures and terrain) has been so huge. That affect has been effecting the bottom line of many companies in the market. My budget is tight this and next month but I will place an order for the Jungle Terrain. Will you be selling the terrain designs to another manufacture here? Thank You, Love, Respect. Good luck in your future endeavors.
I have no intention to entire the crowed, saturated and devalued 3D printed industry (hehe, I might be a little salty!), it's just not something I'm interested in. It is certainly how things are evolving though and I'm sure the tabletop of many a gamer will be graced by many wonderful models from talented designers (like my good friend, Scott Reid at Tired World Studio). I'll be keeping all my assets moving forward, there may be limited time specials now and again when I open the webstore to orders so that people can order things, when I have the time and motivation to do so. Thanks so much for your wonderful support!
Lets go Viv!! So much great stuff to come.

I'm already feeling it! It'll take some time for things to settle, but once the new studio is done it'll be nice to hang out here with friends
Hope you're well Viv!! always enjoyed all of your content and talking to you!!!
Good luck with your new job. Looking forward to your new projects.
Sorry to hear this Viv I hope you keep posting videos & that everything works out for you
Best of luck in this new chapter of your life....Have always enjoyed your videos, and appreciate you sharing your knowledge and expertise....
Good luck on your new career.
You got this !!!
All the best on your new journey!
I’m excited for you Viv.
I have been a fan of your content for years.
I saw you at Arc40k this year but never got a chance to say hi.
Looking forward to see what the next phase of hobby is like :)
Dang, just found out about your channel and shop today. I'm glad you're moving to do what you're passionate about, though.
That's such a wonderful comment! Thank you so much, it really means a lot!
Best of luck to you in your future endeavors.
I’m not crying, your crying. I have loved your videos since waaaay back in the Rubbish In Rubbish out days and will continue to watch any videos you put up, hope to see some when you get back into it.
My heart breaks for you, mate. Totally understand, though. ☹️
All the best for the future. 🙂
Devastated to hear this mate. Hope your future endeavours work out for you and hope we get to see you at events playing games in the not too distant future

As the sun must set, The sun must rise over the blue sky.

It will help massively! Thank you!
Good luck on you new job and enjoy your new journey!
Thank you!
Best of luck out there! COVID has destroyed many things out there but as you say, the only constant in life is change. You seem like an amazing person, and I bet you have amazing things in your future!
Follow your heart mate. Good luck!
There has been discussions about resuming Painting for Life ... some very exciting options on the table, stay tuned!
ramble on viv, thanks for sharing.
Amazing news, kinda sorta :) Get ypur hobby mojo back! Ramble more! We know You love it :) Catch You on the next one
Lots of Love from UK Bristol !
Really sad to hear this Viv but I do know what you mean about burning out. The same happened with me. I wish you the best for the future and I'll no doubt see you around the traps.
(P.S. I also wondered whatever happened with all those sculpts and moulds that you bought from me).
They'll be coming back into production soon Ian!
I remember you from the Rubbish in Rubbish out days you helped me learn how to play Malifaux 🙏🏾
Best of luck to ya mate. All the best
Looking forward to what you do in the future!
I wish you absolute happiness, mate
I'll still be seeing you, as you adventure through the 'Verse. Cheers
Thanks Cross, you're a legend mate. I really appreciate all your support.
Can't have been an easy decision mate, but burnout's a beast and I think you picked the best path to regroup and get that Viv energy back. Can't wait to see what you make!
Mate, the Kings of War community in Aus is going to miss you that's a given.
Bummed mate stay strong keep posting and gaming
Push the button! And sent you 4 coffees
I'm so keen to come play some mordheim Viv!
Best of luck with the new Venture Viv. The wargames business world has changed a lot over the Covid period. This year we are past our pre bookings pre Covid already, so people are coming back out to support our small businesses again. Attended Partizan in the UK this weekend and numbers were the biggest ever.
Look forward to your new stuff
Cheers
Matt

Ah man, I just refound you about 12 hours ago, used to follow rubbishinrubbishout about a decade ago and then i see this video title!
So sad to hear! I was wondering why you've been renovating just to announce that it's over.
Is this in Australia 🇦🇺 ? I’m in WA 😂😂😂
So that makes two companies that are gone. I expect more to follow.
Best of luck with the future endeavours mate, is it still okay to put an order in before you shut up shop
The webstore will be open to orders until 30th June, and after that, it will be opened periodically when I have time to run a 'made to order' limited-time sale kind of thing.
I am sorry to hear that, I follow you since the time you made the other channel with a lot of Saga. The shipping of your kits to me is to much on top.
@@KnightsOfDice woohoo!
Take care of yourself.
