Aloha auntie, it’s always great to watch how our Kupuna used to cook. I always watch and enjoy your video…All the love and Aloha to the OHANA… always ❤️🙏🏽
Mom also used spicy turnip bottoms. Sometimes they were too salty so she would soak and slice them. They used to sell it loose in Chinatown but now it comes in cans or jars.
OMG. Ono. Ono. Ono-licious!!! 😋😋😋😋😋 I still remember having this at Kapahulu Chop suey. Me? I LOVE ❤️ the duck egg. Going to make this. Not sure what the pickled cucumber is but it looks delish. Totally! I am in No. VA so I have to check the local 99 Ranch. Mahalo for doing this video! ☝️☝️☝️☝️
I buy salted duck egg yolks in vacuum sealed bags, 12 for $8. But now it's precooked. You can make your own with chicken eggs. It takes at least a month to soak in salted room temperature for the eggs yolks only to solidify. I have some in my garage that I made 3 months ago. Mom used to keep a gallon of duck eggs under the sink for a long time. They used to sell salted duck eggs in 6 per carton but I don't see them now. You cannot use fresh duck eggs because the yolk will be soft, they must be salted.
Aloha, love to hear old recipes and keep traditions alive. Mahalo to all
My Mom added Choi sum and steamed lup cheong on top…so ono! 💕😎🌺
Same here.
I really enjoy your stories about learning to cook. They are a wonderful addition to your recipes.
And it re-heats fine the next day. Thanks for the memories.
