    The stock markets dividends motivated me to start investing. What counts in my opinion is that you will be able to live off dividends without selling if you invest and make more money in addition to payouts. It suggests that you can give your children that advantage giving them a head start in life. I’ve invested more than $200k throughout the years in dividends stocks, I’m still buying more today and will keep doing so until the price drops even further. I believe I’m not alone on this

      My portfolio is made up of Dividend ETF's, dividend stocks, and growth stocks. I like a mixture as it allows a bit more freedom in specific areas. I mean I couldn’t do this successfully on my own without the help of my CFA

    I enjoy investing in closed-end funds that offer monthly dividends. The key strategy is to hold these investments long-term while reinvesting the monthly dividends and purchasing additional shares whenever possible. This approach is convenient because closed-end funds are traded on the stock market like regular stocks. Following this strategy could build a portfolio that generates between $50,000 to $70,000 in dividend income.

    I like investing in close-end funds that pay monthly dividends. The trick is to hold long term and reinvest the monthly dividends plus buy more shares on a monthly basis or when ever you can afford to. This can be easily done because close-end funds are bought and sold on the stock market just like regular stock. That’d be enough to create a portfolio that would pay you between $50k to $70k in dividend income

    Considering the current market uncertainty, it seems prudent to invest in gold or a gold ETF. I'm thinking of allocating over $300k for retirement purposes. I would think that a major benefit of dividend investing is that calculating portfolio size needed is not relevant. We don't care about the value of the portfolio. We care about the sustainable income it pays. As you invest you can gradually see the income rise as you invest more and pull the retirement trigger when it's high enough regardless of the market sentiment.

      By calculating how much additional income the contributions produce and estimating how that income rises. the capital value will fluctuate up and down over time so the amount of income new additions give you varies. so capital value being high with a market yielding 2% is no worse for retirement than the same portfolio at a different timepoints where the capital value is half and so the yield is 4%. so long as the yield is sustainable in real terms the capital value being half does not matter. its the same income stream at a different moment of low market sentiment vs high market sentiment.

The trick is to hold long term and reinvest the monthly dividends plus buy more shares on a monthly basis or whenever you can afford to. This can be easily done because close-end funds are bought and sold on the stock market like regular stock. Dividends from the stock market were a key motivator for me to start investing. In my view, if you make sound investments that generate additional income alongside dividends, you can eventually live off that dividend income without the need to sell assets. This approach not only provides financial security for yourself but also creates a lasting legacy for your children, giving them a financial advantage. Over the years, I’ve invested more than $600,000 in dividend stocks and continue to buy more, especially during market dips.

    The real inflation rate is 7%. That's because they print 7% more dollars each year. The 2% like numbers they publish are a lie. See shadow stats for more realistic numbers. So you need to net 7% income to break even with inflation. But since I have to pay about 30% tax combined between US and the state. i actually need to get 10% to break even. The other thing is that the company you are investing in needs to be earning significantly more than the dividend, or the dividend is at risk of being cut, and if that happens the stock will tank.

    "Since dividends are usually a fixed amount paid for each share, a lower stock price naturally increases the yield."
    Can you expound upon this a bit more? Is this simply due to the assumption that some of the underlying companies within the ETF may increase their yield to retain investors if they're going through challenges that negatively impact their stock price, and if enough companies included in the ETF do this it should buoy the stock price (edit: dividend) in a meaningful way?

    • @MRkriegs
      @MRkriegs 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No lol bro ur over thinking this massively. A yield is a basic math problem. If the dividend is $1 a year and the share price is $100 u get a 1% yield. If that share price gets cut in half to $50 but they still pay a $1 dividend per year, the yield doubled to 2%! 😂
