The addition of the bagpipes was a stroke of genius!
Absolutely a genius idea. It makes the song!
AC/DC is a stroke of genius in general .
what other band IN THE WORLD can add BAGPIPES to ANY modern rock (STILL to THIS DAY) and not only make them sound GOOD,they sound freakin AWESOME on this ONE and ONLY song ever,by a man who was just CRAZY enough and had enough CREDIBILTY to be able to even THINK about doing something SO BRAVE!!haha..the fact they also did the film clip on a truck WITHOUT permission only ADDS to the credibility of BON SCOTT!!
Idea came from their producer who heard that Bon was in a bagpipe band.
Bon was the drummer.
Went down to music shop and got ripped off and over charged 500AUD for set of pipes. Bon couldn't play. But learned.
Producer was the brother of Malcolm and Angus, had been in Easy Beats.
That year (1976) used his studio access time to create a studio only singles project.
That was Flash and the Pan.
That family had gobs of talent.
@@guypilgrim8313 There's a reason you can't add bagpipes to rock and roll. If you knew anything about music, you'd understand why and also why the song was performed live less than 20 times in 2 years before fans destroyed the pipes in Hobart in 1977.
Timeless, perpetual energy. Sadly this kind of music is no longer made.

Us!
Here from germany 50 year young woman hard rock metal head. Rock or bust 🤘🤘
They're still one of my favorites!
Those people didn't know it yet back then, but they were looking at absolute legends in Rock & Roll.
Many of us older folk knew of them and that they going a long way. I seen Bon Scott when he was in. Group call Fraternity, when I was still in school.🥰
Melbourne had it all back then
Yep☝🏽
Yes, back then! But does it still have all the grime it had back then?
Q change😊
Only AC/DC could make the bagpipes rock.
Check out 'In Extremo', 'Feuerschwanz' and 'Saltatio Mortis'. Legendary german midevial rock bands.
Korn too
Dropkick does pretty well too
Bagpipes are already metal, they were played historically by a bunch of blue painted, half naked warriors throwing themselves headlong into a battlefield filled with spears, swords and daggers.
Animals... Sky Pilot
This Classic Riff can NEVER be played LOUD ENOUGH!!!! 🍻🤘🏼🍻 RIP Bon Scott
love! .. the silly mofo got drunk too 'quickly' on vodka at the Music Machine nightclub in Camden Town London, the other guys stuck him in the back of a car and carried on partying .. note to self: never leave an inebriated person alone in the rear of a car and think that they will just 'sleep it off' .. fuck I miss Bon and his sense of humour
#
Lets take one to his memory! Salud!

2024 and I'm listening to this beautiful song!!!
Gone to soon. Bon this is your legacy, you will always shine.
Is this not the greatest rock and roll clip of all time?? Legends!!!
this IS the greatest of all time... nothing comes close.
Yes…a defining clip of a classic song and group

This is a true rock anthem! It boggles my mind that this song doesn't get played more on the radio.
Younger dj's today have not a clue what great music really is...Many were born after the best music was created at a time when true talent reigned supreme...
The band never featured the song following the passing of Bon Scott.
It does on 103. 1 and 102. 5 in south western PA ❤
Cple movies did

Only a Scottish man like Bon would find a way to add bagpipes to a rocking tune like this~ Rock in peace and power.
🙏🕯️❤️🕯️🙏
He spent his first 6 years in Scotland then immigrated to Australia and became an Aussie.
Scottish heritage, one of the most aussiest Kent's that lived.
The best version of the band was these five. Unbeatable!
That's right ! Someone who knows it ! The best line up ! Bon/Mark/Phil/Malcolm/Angus... they put out their best stuff with these 5 guys ❤
It was great when Cliff joined
I remember hearing this for the first time on my pal's vinyl. He'd just bought it and neither of us knew the pipes were on this track. It blew us away when they kicked in. Volume turned to 11 for this one. Even his dad, who hated rock music/Saxon etc, banged on the ceiling and shouted "Hoi. Play that again and keep your f**king bedroom door open this time!". Awesome!!!
Lol, HOI! music changes some folk. 👍👍✌
those are the memories from years agoooooo, had a similar experience with my grandmother, 1969 or 1970 Led Zeppelin's - Whole Lotta Love was on place 1 in the swiss all year charts, the played the song on air and I turned up the volume on the radio, my grandmother came in, gave me a hard clap and said: we don't play such devilish music in this house... LOL

All rise for the real Australian national anthem. I love when Bon Scott comes in too early with "Ride-" and they left it on the tape. Little things like that make a record.
Almost 50 years old...still fresh!🤘
Fucking class tune
I thanks my dad for showing me his songs ❤
Seconded.
The lead singer had an incredible amount of energy .Giving the fact he did have asthma ,that was a hell of an extraordinary effort .He was a very talented songwriter too .
I was one of those guys at 14 years old that were absolutely crazy for ac/dc in 1980 I could listen tape after tape all the albums and I remember older guys at school telling me that they were too basic and that I had to listen to other bands such as ten years after, etc sure I did but after more than 40 years AC/DC they still sound so good and fresh to me and we all know what a legendary band they are.
I remember those boys crazy for AC/DC with their AC/DC tee shirts in high school. I didn't realize at the time how good they were.
Acdc kicked *ss back in the 80s and still does!

Leave it to AC ⚡️ DC to make the bagpipe’s Sooo kick 🦵🏽 Ass that was genius move💯 rest in peace Bon Scott and Malcolm young 🙏🏼
Now this, this video, this song, this is pure rock & roll. No fancy guitar riff, no fancy drum fills, no lyrics about religion or politics.
This is rock & roll, this is what AC/DC is.
and NOBODY can make bagpipes rock so badass!!
Real rebellious spirit in the Bon Scott songs

You may be cool, but you'll never be as cool as Bon singing one of the most iconic rock songs while playing the bagpipes!!
Those people had no friggin idea just how lucky they were to witness this band and this song at that time absolute CLASSIC 😮
Graduated in 1980 listening to AC/DC and still are!
Greetings from Vancouver Island British Columbia Canada
This song was the first track on the second album released by AC/DC in 1975 making it nearly 50 years old. Bon Scott’s inclusion of bagpipes was truly inspired. This song truly stunned me. Only songs American Pie by Don McLean and Youth of the Nation by the band P.O.D. has had the same impact. RIP Bon. Well done AC/DC!
The coolest song ever with bagpipes.
Absolutely!
Old school Melbourne love it!
I was there that day. My only claim to fame lol. It was magical
Wow! Lucky!
How did those pipes sound on the street?
You're one lucky bastard, you know that?

only AC/DC would have bagpipes and honest to god REAL pipers playing them. thank you gods of rock and roll
Bon was a bolt of lightning. A shooting star who burned out way to soon. RIP Bon Scott.

Thinkin of you today Bonny Scott...44yrs pased February 19th 1980-2024...It's a Long Way⚡
you can still walk the streets of Melbourne and see some of the buildings.... Every time I visit from QLD for work, all I can hear is this song,
So you know, on which streets they did the recording? still here for 4 days to inspect Thanks
@@we02m Swanston St from about the corner of Burke St down toward Flinders St station
@@markb3146 Correct.
All the buildings on the right (western side) of Swanston St are pretty much as they were then, on the outside. And I used to have an office in one of them on the third floor, overlooking the street. I can't NOT think of this classic song every time I come back to Melbourne and how Bon WAS AC/DC. Unique.
When Bon hits the bagpipes at the very end it sends me into ecstasy 😍,bring a tear of joy to this old scotsman's eye ❤
Och Aye!
Awesome song. Awesome band. And this is such an iconic film clip of Melbourne in the mid-1970's. Awesome song, played loud on the back if a truck, with Bon Scott at the top of his game and playing to the camera, and Angus and the guys playing their hearts out.
Perfectly said!

The ultimate best performance of this song. Long live Bon in our ears. Luv AC/DC
This song makes you go from 'air guitar' to 'air bagpipes' while listening loud...
🤣🤣🤣💯
I love ac dc, Bonn Scott, trams, Angus, rock and roll, in no particular order, all at the same time. Yeah, bagpipes!!!!
I am betting none of these guys thought we would be still listening nearly fifty years later
What a masterpiece.
I loved the lady trying to give Bon a joint!
My favorite AC/DC song!!! I love the outro to this song, with the bagpipes and the drummer on a 8 count rhythm, I love it 🥰
Bon Scott was a fing genius . He was probably the best gift to the music world in the past 50 yrs

Not Scottish (my moms Scottish) or Australian I’m American but I am proud to have lived in an Era where AC/DC made music. And I’m happy to have been able to heard all the Bon Scott albums my mom even got me all the Australian releases I have the entire collection even the bonfire box set that came out one year before I did lol. Can’t wait to see them live once again.

My favorite AC⚡DC song. Them fookin bagpipes!!!!🤘
Lol
Malcolm’s tone is the greatest guitar tone of all time.
Its a long way to the shops if you want a sausage roll. tbh we played AC/DC on our wedding day 20 years ago. Still love them with my Bogan Hart. Fuck yeah!.
It's really the total marketing genius of this video, I totally dig the work in the music but, this I'm pretty sure was a stroke of total genius for exposure especially so given the time. Look closely at the onlookers....their expressions tell me while they are unsure the result of such a display....ANY ONE OF THEM has fantasized about having that limelight moment ever since.
Who could rock the bagpipes like Bon, and still look like a rock god. No one.
For Everyone that has ever made it to the Top! This ones for You!
Bon Scott was a really talented singer. The rest is history.
I'm an oldster and when I hear "AC/DC" this song is what pops into my head. I've always loved it, especially the pipes. I've listened to this as far back as I can remember and I have to admit I had no idea Bon Scott could play them. Mind. Blown. 🤘

❤ac/dc in grade 7 had a school excursion to see ac/dc live bon Scott days 1977 those were the days no woke bullshit back then
The soundtrack to my youth. I lived across the main road (Burwood road) to where they lived. When I played under sevens soccer, our goal keeper was Angus and Malcom's nephew and his mum (their sister) made Angus's schoolboy uniforms and every time she made Angus a new costume, she made one for my mate. We, (the whole team) were so jealous and yes, he would wear the cap to training.
I am 78, and this is wonderful.
That knowing glance, that communicative smile from Bon Scott. He was really the man.
The best version ever, plus all the older cars and the way people dressed as well, based on the cars 1977. 😀You can see a HZ Holden which was a new car back then.😀
High Energy ⚡One of the best world's rock'n'roll band, Great music and great song 🤘🎶🎸😍
high voltage !!!
I listen to this for motivation to keep moving forward and trying to conquer obstacles and challenges at 66.
When i hear this, eraction was so hard.
This was Recorded on Swanston Street, Melbourne. But theres AC/DC Lane not far away. Its a laneway in the central business district of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. A short and narrow street running off Flinders Lane, it runs roughly north-south in between Exhibition Street and Russell Street. The lane is named as a tribute to the famous Australian hard rock band AC/DC. Been there and need to go back and bang out a few AC/DC tracks on my Ukulele 🎸!!!
Beautiful swanston st, Melbourne ❤❤

The best aussie band to come out of aussie. Acca Dacca. This song was filmed in melbourne, australia. The real O.Gz of Rock.
Half Aussie, half Scottish.
The good old days, when Melbourne was the greatest city in the world! How sad it is to see what it has become…
Agreed, once marvellous melbourne. It's gone to the dogs now
It took so long to have them in Italy and we missed Bon. When they came the very first time it was 1984 and I was honored to see them on stage in Turin ( second italian concert ever after Nettuno). Just by chance Phil was temporarily off from the band so as "veterans" we had only the Young brothers and Cliff but they were there!
I was 16... never forget AC/DC
