Tip(how I did it, was lvl60, 3 char Samurai theme playtrough) Before you enter the fight, get 3 DPS chars out, Bravery, hastaga, protectga, Shellga and ultimately Berserk all 3. Switch all 3 out, switch another one you have not buffed in(my case one of my non lvled chars), walk in let Zodiark do his move, switch all 3 buffed berserker chars in and just let em go ham, it'll be dead before it can do much and/or do it's immune stuff. Tried most methods without succes and didn't expect it but this one worked instantly lol
Shell actually reduces the instant death rate from 80% to 40%. Also, you never want to dispel him because that's what triggers his immune to magic when he cast his annoying barriers that make him immune to attacks. Having your whole party immune/absorbing dark is actually a bad thing because that makes him NOT use banishing ray on your team; meaning he will cast darkja much more often.
Really!? I kept dispelling him and it kept him from using that stupid physical and magical immune barrier. It took me only two tries to figure it out that you actually *have* to keep dispelling him in order for him to not do that. I beat him within 3 to 4 minutes, Zodiark's a real pushover as long as you don't give him the opportunity to buff too much.
I didn't have to do any of this when I fought him the second time, the only thing I did different on my second attempt was right before I fought him I used Faith on Ashe and Bravery on all the other members. I also kept dispelling Zodiark whenever he decided to use any sort of magical buffs, Zodiark is so focused on setting up first that he doesn't use his immunity barrier as long as you keep dispelling him throughout the fight. Zodiark is a pushover, once he starts setting up he doesn't attack you often once you've start dispelling him in correspondence, I beat him within 3 to 4 minutes on 4x speed. I just finished this fight also used demon shields black masks. Opened the fight with 1 sacrifice. 2 tanks (one decoy both berserk) Healer (ribbon) auto dispel, serums for disease ,eye drops for blind ,tears for stop ,renew for low hp ,bubble. I killed him before he could become immune but I found Shock (really fast ) works very well. Wasn't able to steal the Trango was at lvl 70 after finding the right strategy Zodark was gone in less the 60 sec.
I died ten times trying to defeat this boss. On the eleventh try, I went in got him to 40% health then used a sequence of concurrences to finish him before he activate all his immunities in the last stage of the fight. Thanks for all your immensely helpful videos!
I was a little over levelled for this by 5/7 levels or so but i literally just blitzed him with Basch and Vaan (Holy Lance/Exclaibur) berserked/bubbled/bravery/hastega/genji set took him down to 40% as you recommended switched my berserked boys out for Fran (who i sacrificed like your video said) revived from pheonix down and Penelo got off a 12 quickening chain took him down to 15/20% then immediately after the concurrence switched Vaan and Basch back in and they finished him off, he never got a chance to become immune minus the quickening the battle was over in less than 1 minute. Thanks for the video though your tips are very useful.
Fun tactic, open the fight with zeromus. You have a 50/50 chance darkja wont kill your summoner. If they live, let zeromus and zodiark duke it out for awhile then let big bang rip. After that, its just a matter of bursting him down while he starts buffing. But for reals tho, a masamune+genji and a mesa wielder both berserked and with hastega will rip him to shreds before he does anything dangerous.
@@TooLameToDie I Hard disagree with you. I've tried both; My Lv 67 Shikari/Foebreaker Vaan was doing 2 - 3k damage per hit naturally. Slapped on Genji Gloves and he would consistently hit between 2 - hit, per attack. It's essentially multiplying the damage. Meanwhile the boots would essentially increase my damage output by 50%. My damage was reaching 3 - 4k and didn't combo often. Genji Gloves is by far the superior offensive accessory. Because it makes the user hit *multiple times*
Again. Great job doing this the fair way. I had to cheese this fight to win it. Not that I couldn't have beaten it fairly, but when I fought him for the first time, the Reks method of getting the Trango hadn't existed yet. So Zodiark was the only reliable method to getting one at the time. Once I stole the thing (took about 20 minutes of reloading my auto-save), I made no bones about cheesing the fight with Seitengrats on everyone to make sure I walked away with that sword. Sometimes...you gotta do what you gotta do lol.
When i knew i needed 10 espers to fight zodiark and there wasn't any saving point close to the boss fight i knew that esper would be hard, so i decided to watch one of your videos before i get in, and i am glad i did!!!! When i heard you saying i had to defeat it as quick as possible and i saw he didnt have much life, i didn't think twice, i kept stacking quickening after quickening until that bitch was dead!!! Had trouble finishing him, he kept making physical attacks immune.....basch was already berserk, figured why not make uhlan berserk too. It was just enough damage to kill him before phase change thankfully. Holy lance and excalibur destroy this boss
So I found something useful. Lhusu Mines has a hidden gate key that unlocks rare items. Which was at phon coast. Problem is many TH-cam channels don't make it easy to track Montblanc hunt 39 lhusu caves because the swordsman hunt is buried underneath hunt 38 CARROT STALK. The buried hunt is GIGMESH
unbelievably, i kicked his arse. i used your suggestion of Berserk Knight w/Excalibur (Basche), Berserk Bushi w/kumbhra & gendarme (Balthier) fully loaded with Haste, Brave, Protect, etc. the big player, though, was my white mage spamming Holy (Penelo). took the Big Zee down in
2 white mages healing and doing gil toss, basch wyrm hero blade, white robes n genji gloves while berserk 30k+ per hit. Hestega and bubble on everyone. My vaan sacrifice started with dispel more before he died by darkja
I barely beat him last night. Used all my scathe motes , got him down to a sliver of health, he used darkja luckily I had 2 black masks, finished him off with a shock mote from my knight (blm was KO). Definitely the toughest fight so far.
I remember beating this boss and boy did it PISS off my friend! He lied to me from the start and told me you cannot trade out people during a battle, trolling me, anyway...I only focused on leveling up 3 characters the entire play through and I ended up beating this boss after almost TWO hours and my friend was MAD! XD You see, in his game he had all this cool gear I never collected and weapons (I was new to the game and didn’t have a guide, he wouldn’t let me use his) but I learned the bosses patterns and worked through it and won where he was still struggling with a full party! Lol! Added - It’s been a long time, like 2007 so my memory is vague on the full details but I do remember losing a LOT but ended up finding the right pattern and my friend having a rage rant.

My party are these Vaan : masamune, black mask, bubble belt, decoy on him (my tank) Basch : excalibur, bravery on himself, black mask, bubble belt (my main attacker) Ashe : long range weapon, bubble on herself, and healing (arise and curaja) as well buff caster (shellga, protectga, hastega) I think i was lucky everytime Zodiark cast darkja it was only one character that got insta-death, either Vaan or Basch, and Ashe directly revive them back to offense. And when his health dropped to 15-10%, i spamming my scathe mote (i got 5 if not mistaken and take turn between Vaan and Basch to use it) And boom, suddenly I won. And i even dont have to switch any character 😂 And Im not forgetting that Vaan also still able to steal Serpentarium from him
LOL! XD I put Fran out 1st to get sacrificed & she lived with 151 HP & then she stole the "Tower Groma Blade" OMG! I fell over laughing that was so shocking since it is a 3% chance to steal it from Zodiarc.
I used the knight with the Excalibur with genji gloves, berserked and cast bravery and haste. The remaining characters were healers and buffers, which i never ended up needing. Killed him in about 15 seconds sped up.
i stole a wyrmhero blade from famfrit (lv 50 trial), along with ribbons. This fight was easier than Ultima because the wyrmhero blade + berserk = insanely number of combos, blade has like 80% combo rate by default and is holy so you can imagine how fast zodiark went down.
so, vaan with reverse, berserk and decoy, basch with excalibur and penelo buffing(also wyrmhero blade), went in, got lucky with darkja, fight was done in seconds
Using a less powerful magic but with faster animation works. It was long time since I played this game. If I remember Bio works fine and Scourge as well.
Faster way is Excalibur, Genji gloves, white mask and white robes and using bravery wnd berserk. Literally Zodiark has no chance to set up pailings. And starting the battle off with 1 scapegoat for darkja is a good idea too. Especially with gendarme. I know it seems cheap but the fight can get nasty
Go old school ffiv (aka ffii for snes). Have Penelo and Ashe both black and white mage. Put an opal ring on Ashe and mirror mail on Basch. Set Pinelo's gamit to cast flair on Basch. Even when Zodiark got the reflect up, flair will bounce off Basch and hit Zodiark. Easy peezy!! I feel good being that damn old remembering all that from ffii.
actually as long as Ashe is white mage and Penelo black I guess it wouldn't really matter what their other jobs are. But it helps to have someone extra to cast arise after he hits you with the instant death and an extra flair when Ashe gets the chance.
Is Great Trango worthwhile stealing off this guy or not? Already have Tournesol and Vrsika so far in my current playthrough. Still working on Khumba, Simha and the Wyrmhero Blade.
I too am late to the game here, and this seems like an obvious strat to me. Also, unless I'm mistaken (I see some other people have said this), items don't count as magic or physical. That's why there's an item paling for some battles. Anyway, this should be a 4-minute video.
I tried the legit way and I died at the very end just after his barrier (quickening left him arround 10k) the worse is that I succeeded to steal trango tower ... no comment :( I went back well prepared with 2 wyrmheroe blade for bash and balthier + fury + hastega + genji gloves and at level 99 it took me arround 5 second to kill him. I didn't even try to get trango tower again I rather get it at the pharos with the exploit than loosing my time and take the risk to loose it at the end.
I was able to kill him without Reddas under a minute using this strategy, except as soon as he used shift I swapped Vaan's Excalibur for Masamune and finished him off seconds after.
Alright Fuzz! I need your help! I CANNOT beat this guy! My top 3 are in their early 70's. I can get him down to about an inch in his life and then can't keep my guys alive long enough to get scathe off. I tried to do mists but I never can get enough off to kill him. What accessories would be good to have and where can I get them? I can seem to figure this out. I tried for a black mask in cerobi step but I did it for over two hours and never got it. Anything you can suggest! I only have him and yaizmat left!!
Kenneth Campbell farm for white mage with double exp use holy on bats you will get a fast level 99 white mage. Must learn holy and fight alone and you have guest kill him .
The great trango has a 3% chance(6% with thief's cuffs) to be stolen from him. Good strat to making sure you get one is to clear the charter shaft, and make an autosave there so you can run straight to him and see if you get it or not, so if you dont you can reset to your autosave.
Thanks for your walkthrough it helped me a lot though there is an easier way to kill it in almost less than 2 minutes my characters were almost like. Yours however I braved my attackers and breakered them and I let ash auto healing non stop and easy as that in almost 2 minutes or less I defeated him
Hehe, I just beat this thing in like 10 seconds 😂 Though I'm lvl 89 with Vaan, 75 with Ashe and 88 with Penelo. Went with berskerk on both Vaan and Ashe. And
I managed to kill him at lower levels than you with the same strat with much more ease (didn't even get the Black Mask) :P I think your failure was Balthier's early miss management. He started how trying to do Phoenix Down, costing you valuable turns. With just Vaan and Ashe I was able to get around a 10 Chain Quickening in when his health was down to like 25% then finished him off.
Just have 3 dmg dealers on berserk, bravery, hastega, bubble and ribbons. Zodiark hp will drop so fast it doesnt get the chance to cast great barrier b4 dying.... hehe and dun forget to steal its great trango
Ok so i legit just killed him with an 11 hit combo from vaan with tournsol didnt even have genji glove on ive never even had a combo over 5 maybe 6 til now and it took about half its health bar it was amazing
Hell I freaking one phased that guy XD (after 4 trys) vaan with Excalibur berserk haste bravery faith + help from ash with flare :D (basch with zodiac spear)) kind of a joke with that setup but hella fun :D
I think people really underestimate techniques in this game. Expose and wither turn Omega and Yiazmat into cute little puppies. Omegas 5k damage is reduced to 100 after a few uses of wither. Also did you steal the great Trango sword from him? 😀
if you played the original first like i did (the ORIGINAL, not the IZJS version), then you won't know that at first... in the first version, majority of the techniques were totally useless cause they had ways to counter a lot of OP tactics. honestly, the very first FF12 was the hardest of the 3 versions, with this version being the easiest
even if you did try to use those techs in the original, they were next to useless since they always missed on bosses for some reason. The reason the IZJS and TZA version are easier is because they adjusted the success rate on those techs.
Even in the oringal PS2 I still have it. The Invisobow & Inviso-sword you really didn't care since getting the Zodiac spear was 1/ mill providing you didn't open any low-town chest.
DarkFrozenDepths this boss was the hardest for me in the original ps2 and rage quit the game, a few years later I got hold of a code breaker/gameshark and got everyone at level 99 all equipped with zodiac spears 😎
Let me add something to the strategy that Super Rookie has mentioned, as a I am huge fan of Exodus - in the Zodiac Age version of the game. Basically, the way his special Technick "Comet" works is that it does a random amount of "non-elemental" (important when Zodiark starts his annoying phase Shift skill, late in the battle), damage. The damage is anywhere from 0 to Exodus' maximum HP total. (It may be 1-to his Max, but the point is, it CAN hit for really pathetic damage numbers, or really massive ones). You may realize as you read this, what I am going to suggest....summon Exodus, then immediately cast the Bubble spell on him ! This doubles his maximum HP total. For reference, my Level-65 Exodus was able to go from 21,500 (appx) HP to nearly 43,000 when Bubbled. The "secret" here is that by Bubbling him, you have just basically "Doubled" the damage power of his Comet ability ! Now, instead of hitting from 1-21,500....you (or me, in my example) can now hit from 1 to 43,000 !! I tested this in Pharos, and after the Bubbling, Comet was striking most foes for an average of 20,000 damage, with one hit on a Brainpan showing 34,800 !!! Insane. So...don't neglect how powerful he can be, especially with you commanding him directly. And, when he fades out after his timer is done, you get an additional strike of 30,000 fixed damage from his "Meteor" finishing move ! What a great Esper, all round.
Super Rookie Exodus non-elemental damage does work when he's under his physical barrier? The fight is piece of cake with Excalibur and Gil Toss until he casts this barrier, and it seems to never disappear...
After mid game i ditch guests as soon as the story allows. Some folks like to keep them around to make later hunts and boss fights "easier" but I find they are a resource sink for the later stuff.
@Ze TheGame reds is not trash. He is useful in every single esper fight except zodiark( unless your party is really high leveled). But, reds helps ENORMOUSLY getting to high levels. Reason being, he can make farming the bats at the henne mines, he can also take care of all of the reviving g that needs to be done and let the other party members do more damage. So basically it boils down to. Maybe useful in bosses depending in set up and levels. Very useful getting to those higher levels in the first place.

Had you been thinking clearly you could have avoided lots of ko deaths if you had the bubble belts equip it doubles characters hp even tho you won just saying fighting summons without bubble belt acessories was a bad move
How to kill zodiark when its HP remained only 20%. All of our members die easily even two of our members have Reflectga and one have opal ring, Zodiark is crazy and immune to both physical and magic attack, what the hell! I have lost 3 times already.
Well, this one took me maybe 5 seconds to kill. Had vaan using wyrmhero, basch with Excalibur and ashe as my healer. Attackers were buffed with bravery, haste, and berserk. Zodiark MELTED. Used fran as a sacrifice because I don't really like her much lol. Seriously he couldn't even cast greater barrier in time before he was down.
Lmao i just did this the other day with 3 characters at level 60 with just normal gear no setup. Of course I was on a ps2 emulator playing original so i was damage capped sadly. I will tell you it was absolute hell with shell but I didnt have it and was to lazy to go get it so i just kept reloading my save state

Why didnt you give hastega and berserk before the battle? You could have saved a lot of time. Then you could have gone all in with 2 berserked guys and black mage with scathe.
I hated this boss back on the original PS2 version. I actually hate him even more in the ZA version. Gods this fight fucking sucks. Your fight was pretty good though. And hey, your videos are excellent man.
I just have to share that this strategy worked great for me until the very end when he puts that bloody shield up and flips his holy vulnerability. .in end I cast bravery, hastega and berzerka on all of my strongest fighting characters with best weapons. After sending my sacrificial lamb in I switched to my level 60 characters with the above setup. @@dildonicplague I killed Ultima first and just killed Zodiark today. My party was 52-60 with Ultima and 53-66 with Zodiark. Both were hard as hell but Zodiark one shotted me CONSTANTLY throughout the fight far more often than Ultima. And his immunity to physical damage at the end was brutal.

Thanks for the tip. I turned off the dispel gambit and Zodiark only cast Darkja on the opening with Fran + Reddas. Went down quickly after that

Genji gloves are a tad overrated, Germinas boots are the better bet. You'll notice you combo way more with the boots.

In the original game he was always vulnerable to Drain. So when he went immune to everything I switched to spamming Drain with all characters.

I barely beat him last night. Used all my scathe motes , got him down to a sliver of health, he used darkja luckily I had 2 black masks, finished him off with a shock mote from my knight (blm was KO). Definitely the toughest fight so far.

I remember beating this boss and boy did it PISS off my friend! He lied to me from the start and told me you cannot trade out people during a battle, trolling me, anyway...I only focused on leveling up 3 characters the entire play through and I ended up beating this boss after almost TWO hours and my friend was MAD! XD You see, in his game he had all this cool gear I never collected and weapons (I was new to the game and didn’t have a guide, he wouldn’t let me use his) but I learned the bosses patterns and worked through it and won where he was still struggling with a full party! Lol!
Added - It’s been a long time, like 2007 so my memory is vague on the full details but I do remember losing a LOT but ended up finding the right pattern and my friend having a rage rant.

My party are these
Vaan : masamune, black mask, bubble belt, decoy on him (my tank)
Basch : excalibur, bravery on himself, black mask, bubble belt (my main attacker)
Ashe : long range weapon, bubble on herself, and healing (arise and curaja) as well buff caster (shellga, protectga, hastega)
I think i was lucky everytime Zodiark cast darkja it was only one character that got insta-death, either Vaan or Basch, and Ashe directly revive them back to offense. And when his health dropped to 15-10%, i spamming my scathe mote (i got 5 if not mistaken and take turn between Vaan and Basch to use it)
And boom, suddenly I won. And i even dont have to switch any character 😂
And Im not forgetting that Vaan also still able to steal Serpentarium from him
LOL! XD I put Fran out 1st to get sacrificed & she lived with 151 HP & then she stole the "Tower Groma Blade" OMG! I fell over laughing that was so shocking since it is a 3% chance to steal it from Zodiarc.

Took me several goes but I finally beat him!
I used the knight with the Excalibur with genji gloves, berserked and cast bravery and haste. The remaining characters were healers and buffers, which i never ended up needing. Killed him in about 15 seconds sped up.

I Just put Berserk in two characters, one with Excalibur and the other with Holy Lance, its a very useful method.
i stole a wyrmhero blade from famfrit (lv 50 trial), along with ribbons. This fight was easier than Ultima because the wyrmhero blade + berserk = insanely number of combos, blade has like 80% combo rate by default and is holy so you can imagine how fast zodiark went down.
I haven't battled Zodiark yet, but Ultima was fun. Holyja is a pain.

so, vaan with reverse, berserk and decoy, basch with excalibur and penelo buffing(also wyrmhero blade), went in, got lucky with darkja, fight was done in seconds
Using a less powerful magic but with faster animation works. It was long time since I played this game. If I remember Bio works fine and Scourge as well.

Faster way is Excalibur, Genji gloves, white mask and white robes and using bravery wnd berserk. Literally Zodiark has no chance to set up pailings. And starting the battle off with 1 scapegoat for darkja is a good idea too. Especially with gendarme. I know it seems cheap but the fight can get nasty

Go old school ffiv (aka ffii for snes). Have Penelo and Ashe both black and white mage. Put an opal ring on Ashe and mirror mail on Basch. Set Pinelo's gamit to cast flair on Basch. Even when Zodiark got the reflect up, flair will bounce off Basch and hit Zodiark. Easy peezy!! I feel good being that damn old remembering all that from ffii.
actually as long as Ashe is white mage and Penelo black I guess it wouldn't really matter what their other jobs are. But it helps to have someone extra to cast arise after he hits you with the instant death and an extra flair when Ashe gets the chance.
Is Great Trango worthwhile stealing off this guy or not? Already have Tournesol and Vrsika so far in my current playthrough. Still working on Khumba, Simha and the Wyrmhero Blade.

I too am late to the game here, and this seems like an obvious strat to me. Also, unless I'm mistaken (I see some other people have said this), items don't count as magic or physical. That's why there's an item paling for some battles. Anyway, this should be a 4-minute video.

You're welcome! Espers can be very useful but are generally quite situational. I generally have used quickenings much more often than Espers.
I tried the legit way and I died at the very end just after his barrier (quickening left him arround 10k) the worse is that I succeeded to steal trango tower ... no comment :(
I went back well prepared with 2 wyrmheroe blade for bash and balthier + fury + hastega + genji gloves and at level 99 it took me arround 5 second to kill him. I didn't even try to get trango tower again I rather get it at the pharos with the exploit than loosing my time and take the risk to loose it at the end.

I was able to kill him without Reddas under a minute using this strategy, except as soon as he used shift I swapped Vaan's Excalibur for Masamune and finished him off seconds after.
Lol didn't even notice that he went with 4 people xD
Or Or, hear me out. You can take a couple hours to grind for 3 wyrmheroe blades and ribbons. Put them on at lvl 90+ and kill him in a hot second.
I felt so bad for him he died it like 6-7 hits with that blade.

Alright Fuzz! I need your help! I CANNOT beat this guy! My top 3 are in their early 70's. I can get him down to about an inch in his life and then can't keep my guys alive long enough to get scathe off. I tried to do mists but I never can get enough off to kill him. What accessories would be good to have and where can I get them? I can seem to figure this out. I tried for a black mask in cerobi step but I did it for over two hours and never got it. Anything you can suggest! I only have him and yaizmat left!!
Kenneth Campbell farm for white mage with double exp use holy on bats you will get a fast level 99 white mage. Must learn holy and fight alone and you have guest kill him .

The great trango has a 3% chance(6% with thief's cuffs) to be stolen from him. Good strat to making sure you get one is to clear the charter shaft, and make an autosave there so you can run straight to him and see if you get it or not, so if you dont you can reset to your autosave.

Thanks for your walkthrough it helped me a lot though there is an easier way to kill it in almost less than 2 minutes my characters were almost like. Yours however I braved my attackers and breakered them and I let ash auto healing non stop and easy as that in almost 2 minutes or less I defeated him

Went with berskerk on both Vaan and Ashe.
And
I managed to kill him at lower levels than you with the same strat with much more ease (didn't even get the Black Mask) :P
I think your failure was Balthier's early miss management. He started how trying to do Phoenix Down, costing you valuable turns.
With just Vaan and Ashe I was able to get around a 10 Chain Quickening in when his health was down to like 25% then finished him off.

Used this method with a level 99 party, Vaan killed him in several of hits.
I have Balthier as my Uhlan so I would've given him the holy lance and vaan is my knight so Excalibur would be the same.

Just have 3 dmg dealers on berserk, bravery, hastega, bubble and ribbons. Zodiark hp will drop so fast it doesnt get the chance to cast great barrier b4 dying.... hehe and dun forget to steal its great trango

Ok so i legit just killed him with an 11 hit combo from vaan with tournsol didnt even have genji glove on ive never even had a combo over 5 maybe 6 til now and it took about half its health bar it was amazing
my last try i was so close by defeating him i lacked on scathe motes and phoenix downs otherwise i killed him
I'm beat it easily, it's easy it only took a few minutes,before entering immmune mode, I finished it with a mist combo~
Hell I freaking one phased that guy XD (after 4 trys) vaan with Excalibur berserk haste bravery faith + help from ash with flare :D (basch with zodiac spear)) kind of a joke with that setup but hella fun :D

I think people really underestimate techniques in this game. Expose and wither turn Omega and Yiazmat into cute little puppies. Omegas 5k damage is reduced to 100 after a few uses of wither. Also did you steal the great Trango sword from him? 😀
if you played the original first like i did (the ORIGINAL, not the IZJS version), then you won't know that at first...
in the first version, majority of the techniques were totally useless cause they had ways to counter a lot of OP tactics.
honestly, the very first FF12 was the hardest of the 3 versions, with this version being the easiest
even if you did try to use those techs in the original, they were next to useless since they always missed on bosses for some reason. The reason the IZJS and TZA version are easier is because they adjusted the success rate on those techs.
Even in the oringal PS2 I still have it. The Invisobow & Inviso-sword you really didn't care since getting the Zodiac spear was 1/ mill providing you didn't open any low-town chest.

DarkFrozenDepths this boss was the hardest for me in the original ps2 and rage quit the game, a few years later I got hold of a code breaker/gameshark and got everyone at level 99 all equipped with zodiac spears 😎

Jonathan Whybrow another quick way when he is down to 1/4 health is to summon Exodus and have him keep casting Comet. It'll finish him off quick.
Let me add something to the strategy that Super Rookie has mentioned, as a I am huge fan of Exodus - in the Zodiac Age version of the game. Basically, the way his special Technick "Comet" works is that it does a random amount of "non-elemental" (important when Zodiark starts his annoying phase Shift skill, late in the battle), damage. The damage is anywhere from 0 to Exodus' maximum HP total. (It may be 1-to his Max, but the point is, it CAN hit for really pathetic damage numbers, or really massive ones).
You may realize as you read this, what I am going to suggest....summon Exodus, then immediately cast the Bubble spell on him ! This doubles his maximum HP total. For reference, my Level-65 Exodus was able to go from 21,500 (appx) HP to nearly 43,000 when Bubbled. The "secret" here is that by Bubbling him, you have just basically "Doubled" the damage power of his Comet ability ! Now, instead of hitting from 1-21,500....you (or me, in my example) can now hit from 1 to 43,000 !! I tested this in Pharos, and after the Bubbling, Comet was striking most foes for an average of 20,000 damage, with one hit on a Brainpan showing 34,800 !!! Insane. So...don't neglect how powerful he can be, especially with you commanding him directly. And, when he fades out after his timer is done, you get an additional strike of 30,000 fixed damage from his "Meteor" finishing move ! What a great Esper, all round.
Super Rookie Exodus non-elemental damage does work when he's under his physical barrier? The fight is piece of cake with Excalibur and Gil Toss until he casts this barrier, and it seems to never disappear...

Reddas seems like a burden to have in party
After mid game i ditch guests as soon as the story allows. Some folks like to keep them around to make later hunts and boss fights "easier" but I find they are a resource sink for the later stuff.
@Ze TheGame reds is not trash. He is useful in every single esper fight except zodiark( unless your party is really high leveled).
But, reds helps ENORMOUSLY getting to high levels. Reason being, he can make farming the bats at the henne mines, he can also take care of all of the reviving g that needs to be done and let the other party members do more damage.
So basically it boils down to.
Maybe useful in bosses depending in set up and levels.
Very useful getting to those higher levels in the first place.

How to kill zodiark when its HP remained only 20%. All of our members die easily even two of our members have Reflectga and one have opal ring, Zodiark is crazy and immune to both physical and magic attack, what the hell! I have lost 3 times already.
Well, this one took me maybe 5 seconds to kill. Had vaan using wyrmhero, basch with Excalibur and ashe as my healer. Attackers were buffed with bravery, haste, and berserk. Zodiark MELTED. Used fran as a sacrifice because I don't really like her much lol. Seriously he couldn't even cast greater barrier in time before he was down.
Lmao i just did this the other day with 3 characters at level 60 with just normal gear no setup. Of course I was on a ps2 emulator playing original so i was damage capped sadly. I will tell you it was absolute hell with shell but I didnt have it and was to lazy to go get it so i just kept reloading my save state

Why didnt you give hastega and berserk before the battle? You could have saved a lot of time. Then you could have gone all in with 2 berserked guys and black mage with scathe.
I hated this boss back on the original PS2 version. I actually hate him even more in the ZA version. Gods this fight fucking sucks. Your fight was pretty good though. And hey, your videos are excellent man.

I killed him in less than a minute with level 99 party and 3 Seitengrats. He only used Darkja once: the starting one.

I just have to share that this strategy worked great for me until the very end when he puts that bloody shield up and flips his holy vulnerability. .in end I cast bravery, hastega and berzerka on all of my strongest fighting characters with best weapons. After sending my sacrificial lamb in I switched to my level 60 characters with the above setup. @@dildonicplague I killed Ultima first and just killed Zodiark today. My party was 52-60 with Ultima and 53-66 with Zodiark. Both were hard as hell but Zodiark one shotted me CONSTANTLY throughout the fight far more often than Ultima. And his immunity to physical damage at the end was brutal.
@@MaskOfCinder I ended up killing him with a couple of zodiac spears playing the ps4, quickening practice, and an hour of gambit preparation and so much patience...
Because u already have excalibur which a huge advantage against zodiark. The only thing annoying about ultima is when she cast reverse on ur team
