Jeremy, I offer my sincerest thanks. As a first-time grower, I chose the living soil method after watching Season 3 about 20 times or more. I recently encountered heat stress after the ladies Laesi (Bruce Banner) and Quynsi (Gorilla Cookies) were doing just fine. This video was like the clouds opening up and God showing me the way. I got caught up in the 50k LUX min. hype, but I found out I only needed 32K, which took me down to 40% light usage. I was also able to put all your formulas in a spreadsheet so I could visually see the DLI if I changed the intensity and usage. That 40% lowered the temperature, humidifier, and AC usage and, most importantly, allowed the proper biology to continue. I followed your steps at about 85%, but I'm sold 100% now. By the way, your products speak for themselves. Thank you for the science!
Thanks Jeremy. Build a soil for the Future of Farming, the world is all in shambles and farmers need to learn this. More important than almost anything.

Had an industrial LED. The garden never looked better than when I did a whole run no higher than 75% power at around 50 DLI max. No mag and Cal deficiency, ladies kept up the whole grow, largest yield yet, less nutrients, less heat, power bill cheaper. All organic grow in a living soil.
Absolutely needed this episode so much!! Jeremy and the Buildasoil Crew thanks so much for everything you all bring to the table!! Knowledge is power and power is knowledge! I’m watching this a second time and if needed more which I’m sure I’ll need this in my grow to get as much out of my plants as possible!! I have an oversized 2x4 tent and I feel more confident after watching this and every episode you put out!!! Grateful for everything!! More information please?💚
Switching to LED’s involves a new learning curve. This is the best short tutorial on it I’ve found. Worth saving and rewatching occasionally. I started using an app on my phone for measuring light and it’s been extremely helpful. May not be exact but it shows me how much I’m increasing or decreasing very effectively. That really helps with DLI.

28:28 just thinking as you're talking- I think the benefit of the lights off is similar to having a dense cover crop in the sense that the biology and roots get to flourish higher in the medium from the heat and light intensity being away for those hours. So 18 is better than 12 in the sense that the dli is stretched out for the plant to take it in easier, but 18 beats 24 because the 6 hours of dark is beneficial for the medium to partake in a few percent more of its activities in that upper layer for a few hours 😅 hopefully that makes as much sense to you as it does for me
This was an amazing video! For all of us! Most of us knew most of this but just got an even better complete understanding. And if you are really new, I just don’t think you could find a better explanation to setting up your environment! As mentioned before, the hose is a good idea, but just didn’t work for me. You and the Build A Soil family have really been an inspiration for the at home living soil grower. You’ve changed the way I see living organics in a more simplified approach. My question is, how would you max out a 3x3 tent aiming for best soil amount. I’m running a 320w AC Bar LED inside my 3x3.
Hey Jeremy, I just wanted to say as a person who has recently been doing research for an in home perpetual grow that absolutely knew nothing about anything concerning growing before the past couple months! That I 100% appreciate the information breakdown and guidance you provide in your videos! Thank you so much!!!
@BuiIdASoil Ok,so we're I'm at in Alaska, we are able to have 6 plants per 1 person legally going at 1 time in one household and it doubles with 2 or more people in one household but i live alone with no pets,3 of which can be in flower. I currently live in a 20x9 dry cabin( which just means I have to pack my water and I have no bathroom lol)and have electric. My sealing is roughly 14' in height. In my cabin I have a 11'x6' space that I plan to use for the grow. Now with the difference in temperatures fluctuating from negative degrees in winter as such is the case right now to up to 70 80 90 degrees and such in the hotter months. My plan is to over the next year better insulate my cabin and turn the cabin its self into a lung room using the ac infinity 4" pro systems, mainly do to the wattage they pull when operating at full capacity. Along with using 2 of the ac infinity 4x4 tents -1 for veg and 1 for flowering, now for the lights in both of these tents ive chosen due to price along with wattage usage and the ppfd ,the szhlux 500 watt led lights rated for a 5x5 tent but the dimensions will allow them to fit in the 4x4,along with - 1 2x4 tent with a spider farmer sf 600 light when sprouting seedlings, for the duel purposes of sprouting seedlings and in rotation drying when I harvest and rotate the plants using feminized auto flowers so hopefully a Simi steady perpetual grow can be established in due time.. in which I'm planning on using the 4" pro systems to create the internal environments desired for each stage of growth in each tent along with fans,dehumidifiers/ humidifiers as needed. Now I've been watching a few other people on the TH-cam like Mr.growit and pigeons 420 along with doctor autoflower and a few others...and so my thoughts and plans are to use a cococore baise with purple cow organic craft mix on a 4 to 1 mix in 5 gallon fabric pots also keeping on hand diatomaceous earth and Mammoth canncontrol to help with any pest infestation that may occur... some yucca wet to help with any forms of stress that may occur from low stress training and some calcium carbonate-potassium carbonate and magnesium carbonate along with the stah bled mix to help with any deficiencies that may occur aong with worm castings for extra nitrates as needed... I'm on a budget due to being on ssdi so this will take me some time to aquire everything but I hope to be getting started around next November or December... Sorry for the long text,I have a tendency to over explain quite often lol but these are my thoughts and ideas of what I'm wanting to due to utilize my space that is available in the most effective and efficient way... any and all advice or guidance will be and is greatly appreciated. Thank you once again...
Just learned a VPD and it explains a lot about my last grow. Thank you for the great explanation. Love the Video! Love Build a Soil. In your video you mentioned two 7.5 amp lights on a 15 amp breaker. Keep in mind that breaker loads are only rated for 80% for the Max. 15 amp breakers safely run 12 amps, not 15. 20 amp breakers safely run 16... etc etc.
Hey Brandon, just wanna try for sharing all your pro knowledge I consider you a Jedi grower, I am still a novice but it's turned into a consuming love for the grow I'm very avid for learning and I turn to you for the best knowledge out there ty my guy...
This video really helped bring all the study and formulas I’ve been looking at together in the real world. I really appreciate you speaking on such an in depth level and from experience. Thank you to your whole team!!!
Im in the BAS Facebook group. I don’t see enough people running the sea of green technique. The grassroots beds with the coots recipe is perfect for this method.
Has to do with legal states mandating ridiculous plant counts. I can only have 5 plants legally. A 5 plant sea of green style grow wouldn't yield as much as me having 5 large plants in 3 different tents like I do now. If I could grow 20 plants then a sea of green style would make sense.
Thanks for continuing to share with us Jeremy! Just got a build a soil hoodie for a gift this past Christmas! Much love and appreciate all the stuff you do and share with us
Thanks so much. I may not have been able to take in all of it in one watch but I’m going to rewatch it multiple times and by the end of it I’m sure I’ll have a whole grasp of it. Thank you so much Jeremy. next time I’m out Colorado riding I’ll definitely come into the shop

So much information. It's just fantastic. This is a class for all beginners. Thank you so very much. 😊 Everybody who watches this will have a better grow experience. Much love
Really enjoyed the video, I just have a nuance about temperature and LED lighting. Completely new grower, I’ve had one outdoor grow that was great until my 2 best plants shot pollen and seeded the ENTIRE crop that was doing well. I did my first indoor garden in February of that same year. The indoor plant was so much better than the seeded outdoor ladies. With my indoor, I ran a cheap LED but, it used Samsung LM301B’s and a MeanWell driver. Listening to Bruce Bugbee, I encountered the concept of shortwave radiation that happens in Mother Nature when the sun goes down. The darker earth absorbs shortwave radiation from the sun through the day, at night when the temperature drops from the lack of sunlight, the darker soil releases the energy back into the air, and is captured by any plants in the area. What I did to bring warmth into my tent that was in a cool basement, was to employ a 300 watt oil filled radiator. I was able to harvest the plants, when they still had a solid week or two left to ripen, because I hadn’t yet figured out what the VPD meant. I was maintaining a 62% humidity level with a temperature of 81 in vegetation, and lowered it to 72 in flower. I believe that your method allows for the light and photosynthesis to be the deciders for temperature variations. That’s something that I didn’t think about, because of being in a cooler environment in the winter time. What are your thoughts on using a radiant heat source, for a more well rounded environmental system? I was using water only living soil and ph’d my water and runoff to understand more about the soil. I even began adding Oregon’s Only NFTG’s nutrient line and I can’t wait for this season to unfurl itself. 😊
Best environment tutorial ive watched ! Very well explained, even an old fart like me can understand it. I have very high temps & humidity +35°c & 80%+ Far North Australia . Im getting a small AC unit to help with Temps, but fear I'll need to add back the Humidity. We will see. 1 step at a time 🤣🤣 Only my 2nd grow Still learning . Great video 👍
Since watching this video I’ve been trying really hard to dial in my environment. Cheers! Do y’all have a rep in Minnesota? I’d love to see your products in more local shops.
Using an Earthbox with Ecowitts, what are the is a normal moisture/ healthy range for the plants and what is considered to high/ anaerobic of a moisture level, so you would hold off on watering. Keep up the great work, you guys are amazing….
Before transplant ,45% (average) testing 4 quadrants. Transplant with reservoir dry. When Ecowitt reaches 35% fill reservoir with 1 gal to start. This is the tricky part! The roots must hook up BEFORE you fill reservoir to full capacity. You'll know this when 1GAL. in the reservoir goes dry in no more than 48 hrs. Safe Ecowitt numbers are 25%-50%. Optimal numbers are 35%-45%. I hope this helps you. 💯✌️🦚
Really trying to maintain my VPD. My weakest link that I can control is humidity. My question is can I use a 6 in inline fan for a 2x4 tent. My 4 in inline fan is struggling to exhaust humidity. My intake air from my basement is low 50’s. My tent is struggling to keep the humidity at 60rh. Once again, I love your content, and I am so pleased that your products are now available in driving distance from my location. I love the teaching you have provided thru the years but I feel it would be easier to purchase the best products on the market! Thanks again for your time and effort for continuing my education in organics!
We need bas fleec lined hoodies for when it gets chilly the bas tree logo with the colors of the wood picture there in a plaid design would look sweet as hell make it a limited edition
Cheers mate! I think I might get 2 fans. One for exhaust when temps get too hot and one on the intake that's on a timer 10 mins every hour just to bring in fresh air/c02.
Thanks for the tip on the amps, I was considering setting up in an old house with some 15amp breakers, I will be sure to avoid those outlets and consider 240v
Love that Jeremy did this. Very important data for new growers to learn about. The decisions we make are only as good as the data we use to make the decision. I would love to see this community, who is diy in nature, get into making our own leds. We make our own compost, we make our own castings and ferments, we make our own soil, why aren't we building our own lights? A light that will be designed for your garden and your style of growing. A homemade light is like a homemade soil. We have control over so much more. We have full control over the quality level of all inputs. We become more independent, save money, and get a better quality light. Not to mention, once you have the skill, you can make lights for your friends. I would love to do a show on how to figure out the best led design for your grow space while also covering the build. Let's colab! #BuildALED

Love the show, it really rounded out my vision of building earth inside (that's what I called it before I found y'all) I'm a few months behind you and I just realized, I don't think you addressed how to properly harvest the seeds we make - or at least I missed that.. anywhoozles. Just started a night owl Zamaldelica Express Reg run and am hoping for males!! Excited for the new season 💚👍🤘🤙🖖💚 from Maryland Appalachia
Hey Jeremy - Thanks for all the great educational content. I’m late in flower right now and will occasionally open up some bigger buds to make sure there’s no signs of rot. I’ve seen you do it too in past seasons and can’t help but wonder if you use anything to clean your hands after you do that or if you just don’t mind the stickiness. My fingers stick to everything after I spot check and I’ve started to wear gloves now to keep the grease off of my fingers and all the other stuff I touch lol. Thanks again
Really great concept at 9:51... The soil has to meet moisture and available nutrient needs. There always seems to be a hole to plug in the barrel when pushing growth and yield.
Man am I glad I found your channel. The way you explain everything is amazing. For me, the way you teach actually registers with me. Now, on to my question. I have a 2x4 tent set up in my basement. I'm growing autoflower (Apple Fritter from ILGM). I am having a hard time regulating my temp when my lights (Spider Farmer SF2000) are off. My basement stays at about 69°. How do you maintain the tent temp while lights are off? A space heater inside the tent causes the temp to spike then drop on a hourly basis.
@@Runningwild60 About 60 is the lowest ideal temp but I've let mine get down to 50 without any issues. It's just that they'll be a little less efficient the colder they are so if they were cold at lights off it might take a little while for them to use the light efficiently when they come back on
They actually like a little cooler temps when they are sleeping, especially in the soil. But once they grow to be 6 nodes tall you would need to freeze it in sub 30 degree temps to kill it. It's just that under 50 will stunt it or cause cold stress.
As a retired electrician, I will say everything Jeremy has said is spot on! The knowledge that he shares, and deep dives on, is amazing and helpful. Love all you do for our community Jeremy! Peace and love always from Ohio!

Love the Video! Love Build a Soil. In your video you mentioned two 7.5 amp lights on a 15 amp breaker. Keep in mind that breaker loads are only rated for 80% for the Max. 15 amp breakers safely run 12 amps, not 15. 20 amp breakers safely run 16... etc etc.
Did my first grow the buildasoil way and it was so much easier the plants grew so fast
So glad I found your channel cause I’m so green and needed all the help I can get!! Thanks for all your info!!
Hey Brandon, just wanna try for sharing all your pro knowledge I consider you a Jedi grower, I am still a novice but it's turned into a consuming love for the grow I'm very avid for learning and I turn to you for the best knowledge out there ty my guy...
Thank you for pointing me to episode 3
Great Plant Knowledge the world needs it right now more then ever. The Future is Green. Plant Love.
Thanks for the knowledge Jeremy!
@BuiIdASoil always open for discussions! Let's all elevate the game 🎯
That was a lot. Thank you. Customer for life.
Very nice fundamental video! Always good to refresh on the basics
Wow man start a frigging online school! That helped me immensely, thank you
Love the white board talk!
17:00 i want to add, a hell of a lot of growers up north do actually under utilize their light sources too, too little can mess you up as well.
I would like to see a video like this but purely for outdoor grows.
Thanks Jeremy. For showing me the Build a soil Way You are the absolute best at explaining and teaching how to grow with using your help. You all Rock, And Zach, has been helping me out a lot on all your products.
This is exactly what I asked for in a previous video when you asked for ideas for season 6!! Thank you!!!! Super appreciate you like so so so so much
Free knowledge!!! I hope everyone knows how valuable this is!!
So much information. It's just fantastic. This is a class for all beginners. Thank you so very much. 😊 Everybody who watches this will have a better grow experience. Much love
Thanks for this. Can't tell you how much this helps a first time grower. Keep up the great work.
Best episode yet I've seen a couple of them🎉🎉🎉. Keep doing what you're doing bro!
Thanks for the info, well explained.
Another great video. I really appreciate how you take the time to go into such great detail and provide free information while never pushing products.
You’re The Man Jeremy!!! 🤙🏽 Keep Going YOU have LOTS to do STILL!!!
This was so helpful to me. Thank you very much. You did a fantastic job explaining 👏
Great learning , thank you
Great video this channel has helped me and my buddies more then u know keep up the great work godbless the ALL THE GREAT BUILD A SOIL FAMILY
Best environment tutorial ive watched !
Very well explained, even an old fart like me can understand it.
I have very high temps & humidity +35°c & 80%+
Far North Australia .
Im getting a small AC unit to help with Temps, but fear I'll need to add back the Humidity.
We will see.
1 step at a time 🤣🤣
Only my 2nd grow
Still learning .
Great video 👍
Since watching this video I’ve been trying really hard to dial in my environment. Cheers! Do y’all have a rep in Minnesota? I’d love to see your products in more local shops.
I second that.
Awesome video! This was literally the video I needed to help my buddy who’s a new Gardener!
💯✌️🦚
Awesome jobs guys! Growing the best grass of my life the build a soil way!!
Simply perfect 😊. Best educational video I've seen. Thank you so much 😎
We need bas fleec lined hoodies for when it gets chilly the bas tree logo with the colors of the wood picture there in a plaid design would look sweet as hell make it a limited edition
I run my filters on the outside. Still zero smell.
Lots of great tips.
Let's see some episodes about the autos 😁
Aye I appreciate the content you put out very educational👍🏾💯
Cheers mate! I think I might get 2 fans. One for exhaust when temps get too hot and one on the intake that's on a timer 10 mins every hour just to bring in fresh air/c02.
thanks for the awesome video jeremy and team
So bad asss ,thank you Jeremy so much ,really dig the 20amp breaks so important, love from the blue ridge mts nc
Ya know what... I've been happily married to my wife for a long time, but I fucking love Jeremy man😂
Been waiting 10 days for this. Knew it was gonna be a banger
Thanks for the tip on the amps, I was considering setting up in an old house with some 15amp breakers, I will be sure to avoid those outlets and consider 240v
Hey Jeremy you were on point with all the knowledge you dropped in this video thanks for sharing!!
@BuiIdASoil WHAT ARE YOU SOME KIND OF JERKOFF?
Always great information, looking forward to the grow.
Great video. Thank you
Couldn't be any more informative and helpful even if you tried ✌️😸
Love to all the crew ❤ wonderful episode.
Man it's so easy to learn from you ! Thanks for all the knowledge!
#BuildALED
Hey!!
Good show thank you 💯❤
Hey Jeremy - Thanks for all the great educational content.
Love your videos 🎉
I love your videos. April 15 million German smokers will come out of illegality. I highly recommend all to watch about organic growing.😊
Really great concept at 9:51... The soil has to meet moisture and available nutrient needs. There always seems to be a hole to plug in the barrel when pushing growth and yield.
Exactly this is the photosynthetic equation. 6CO2 + 6H2O → C6H12O6 + 6O2. But he is explaining it in real life inputs.
But actually the coolest thing is that he has put his finger on the biology that does all the work efficiently. It’s so damn interesting!
Another great vid bro thanks
This was so helpful
FWIW, most residential circuits in USA (excepting kitchens and dininng rooms) are 15 amps. Also, there may be loads that exist on certain circuits.
Very informative, I thank you for the helpful information best explanation I have heard.
You slay these videos! Constantly waiting for every next update/video just to try and catch a new thing to practice.
Great show. As always...
69F is a primo lights off temp
@yeahnahsweetas what would be the lowest acceptable temp for lights out? There are times the temp will drop to 65°.
