To be honest, many people are only overusing sky piercer because they want to “secure kills”, so they trade the slot for something that would make their damage greater. If you really want to fully utilize sky piercer, claude (has problem finishing heroes), wanwan (ultimate kills will chain ult), and karina (elimination of marked enemies resets ult) are all heroes that synergize with sky piercer
TLDR: Buy skypiercer if you can make sure you actually have enough dmg to kill the enemies 1.when you have a strong early game, Buy it as first item (From the Assassin example) 2. when you're snowballing, Buy it after your core items (From the Benny's mm example) To all league players who knows they copied "The Collector" you guessed it right. It's main gimmick behaves EXACTLY the same. Thats why the pros who played league already knows how to use the item. Meaning: Can you get kills early? If yes buy it. If no dont buy it. I have seen roam marksman on thunderbelt and sky piercer and can proct its passive more than twice those melee fighter
It can work on roger because of wolf form and is considered fighter so thunderbelt not penalized.

i use Hanabi and skypiercer for 2nd to the last item, and its really GOOD!
if you using dps marksman, just buy the holy trinity item first then you can consider to buy sky piercer or not depends on the situation
