- Today I wanted to tell you guys about a crazy thing that just happened! Our house had a small flood and it made it to my Funko Pop room!

7:56 As someone living in Quebec: it absolutely can happen in Canada! Within the past 5 years we’ve had 2 major floods that shut down businesses, left roads only accessible by boat and caused people to actually permanently lose their homes. I’m lucky enough to live on a hill so our house never flooded but it’s never completely impossible.
Yeep in Australia in cuntry town bad flooding s for 8 time in a year .it's bad and in city way hear. Thay rather put retaining walls around the race cource to save it. Than put retaining walls near the house. So the water. Just flooded all the house. Around and near the race cource .it's perthetic.
Make sure to put dehumidifiers in the rooms to help prevent mold and mildew.

Be careful with the water in the walls could cause mold and structure damage. You don't want black mold.

Sorry that happened to you Tristan. Hope you and your family are ok. Luckily your stuff didn't get ruined. But at least you and your family are doing well.
I have a vacation home in Florida, and we are still having repairs done from the flooding we sustained from the Hurricane, so I am glad you did not have that type of water damage. I am so glad I brought the Funko Pops I have in my collection down there back with me on my last visit, so thank goodness those are alright. I have some grails that could not have been replaced. Whew!!
I'm sorry about the flood - that happened at my sister's house from the upstairs bathroom. Happened in my apartment building with a burst pipe on the 23rd floor which flooded all apartments to the lobby and people on the 22nd floor said it was like the falls. Luckily I'm above that floor though used to live on the 23rd floor in another building which always flooded from leaking pipes and it would often rain in my apartment (luckily pre-Funko years). I'll definitely keep the pops on the second shelf and higher just in case. Thanks for the video and I'm glad there was minimal damage on some of your pops and I hope the home repairs goes well (I think my sister got a headache from how long the contractors were taking but it did get all fixed up nice in the end).

Wow! That was a close one! Water is the worst enemy for collectables! Especially in boxes! Keep those Pops protected!
This is one of my biggest fears of my funko pop & pez dispenser collection room! Flood, wind damage a tornado cause i live in the southern states or big tree hitting our house! Glad your pops are ok 👍🏼
I'm glad you didn't get much damage. Christmas eve of 2020 a huge storm came through and blew 3/4 of my roof off, flooding 3 out of the 4 bedrooms and into the living room. Lots of damage.
That's has literally happened to me before.. mine was caused by a clogged hose that is inside of my washer. I didn't have to replace my washer just had to do some maintenance. Glad that the majority of your collected didn't get damaged. I feel like you got lucky.

This happened to someone I know. They had to call their insurance company to come and inspect the damage to home. The insurance company inspected the washing machine and found it was broken. It was not the homeowners fault. The insurance company paid for all the damages and replaced the washer. My friends thought the damage was minimal to their house. However, the insurance company did test and found that there was more damage inside the walls and ceiling and had to do a whole remodel of their bottom floor of house due to mold. Homeowners stayed in another rented house the insurance company paid for, for two months while repairs were being done.

Oh no! Water is so damaging and can travel in the strangest ways. Glad your pops didn’t suffer too badly. Best wishes to your parents, I’m sure they’ll be dealing with the insurance people forever now. Yuk.
Good thing it wasn't too bad that's why you really shouldn't have got rid of your studio I think it was a better area for you I know it was kind of a pain going back and forth and everything else but I think you really need a secure spot for your collection cuz you never know what it could happen even if you had a smaller storage unit where you have a bunch of your pipes and then just had a few to record maybe or something

These are actually common with washers. Washers break and spill water. If it's above a floor or basement, then the water goes under the floor that it's in.

I had the exact same problem last year were the water went down to the next floor for me it was that the flooring was not sealed correctly so that might be your problem. Love your Vids Tristan.

Just went through Hurricane Ian and took some flood damage to some of my pops. Thankfully it wasn’t any of my most valuable/favorite pops

Oh man! I hope they have home owner’s insurance in Canada! I’m sure your parents are taking care of it, but make sure you look in the walls. The water can turn into mold!

Life is unpredictable anything can happen at anytime, a few years ago i purchased a few pops and when i got home i left them in the plastic bag the store gave me & put bag on floor, next morning i observed a puddle around the bag, to my my surprise of all times a nearby steam radiotor had leaked water from a bad connection, the water had seaped through the bag and the bottom of several pop boxes had absorbed it, after drying the boxes had water stain and warping damage, i was able to repurchase most at discount outlets but there were at least two which are now exclusive and up in price not practical to price repurchase, the lesson
of this story is from then on i dont leave pops on anything below 1 foot unless in plastic bins or high shelves

My basement flooded in January of 2020. Luckily my figures were in crates so none of them were damaged.
Thankfully your pops were unharmed. In my old place my aircon leaked all over most of my collection and destroyed most of the boxes. Sad times 😩
The two water hoses to the washing machine dry rot over time and need to be replaced.

Hey Tristain. I Had the same thing happen to me and I lost 40 pops due to the water leak. It was a real shame and I lost tones of my favorite ones.

omg imagine all the pops fell from the shelfs *Knock on wood*
late 90's i started running a bath so started looking online then as the third page loaded i realised that it had overflowed and the light sockets in the kitchen downstairs were streaming out water the perils of dial up
so check the electrics of everything and let it dry out first we cooked in the dark for a month
