  • In this video tutorial i explained -
    1. Importing 3D slicer file into Abaqus
    2. Intermediate steps are -
Smoothing mesh and improving STL file quality in Meshmixer.
Generation of 3D tetra mesh using Hypermesh.

Can we force hyperworks to generate hexa-dominant mesh (instead tetrahedral element), using same stl file generated from meshmixer?

hI SimTech05, can you make a video using this mandible in abaqus, applying some hypothetical muscle forces and some restrictions and made a fea analysis?

      Dear,
Intension of video is to show the way to import such complex bone models in Abaqus.
I believe you can perform analysis without problem.

Hello, I have been working on the L3-L4 region of the spine and everytime I use the meshmixer to smooth my model. After which when I import it to hypermesh, the model is error free, but when i mask and remove some portion of the model, it turns out to be hollow from inside. Could you help me with this issue, please? I have been stuck since a long time over this.

    Excellent video Dear Instructor,
    Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I have a question for you. After importing the mesh in Abaqus according to the methodology you proposed, Abaqus tell me that there is no geometry. So I have an Orphan Mesh. Can you provide me some suggestions to manage this problem? Can I export geometry from Hypermes and import it into Abaqus? Is it worth trying to import also the geometry in Abaqus? Can I perform a FEM analysis without geometry in Abaqus? Thank you for your help. Best Regards. RN

      No dear,
If you are using slicer you will get .stl file only. No meanings of importing geometry then.
If try to generate surface from the stl file it becomes more complex.
So i suggest to use Hypermesh for meshing and use orphan mesh in Abaqus.

@@simtech0598 Thank you, Dear What are the disadvantages of not having a geometry performing FEA in Abaqus?

    • @simtech0598
      @simtech0598  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lots of disadvantage dear,
Everytime for meshing you need to call model...you can't modify in Abaqus.
Loaf and BC you have to create on node sets or element set...you don't have geometry..so selection is difficult.
Defining contact is full of headache...
      Etc.
