- On the day Spamton was to be evicted from Queen's Mansion his old friend, Blue Addison, went to check on him.
I've been in love with the thought of this one scene from Deltarune so I decided to make an animation of my take on it. After a year of hard work from several very talented artists and myself, we're proud to bring you this silly little fan animation.

Something I haven't seen anyone point out yet: Blue only hears the garbage noise and has his vision AFTER he opens his eyes. 4:07
Wait…you’re RIGHT! It’s like you have to have your eyes open to see the vision, which (surprising no one) makes sense! When you think about it, Spamton’s eyes are never closed, he’s wearing glasses, sure, but even when he glitches, you can still tell his eyes are open. Now that I think about it, the only time Spamton’s eyes close is when you cut his final string. Maybe Spamton chooses not to close his eyes because he can hear the noise echoing in his head already? It’s a long [[SHOT]] but hey, that’s just a theory.

The choir singing Big Shot is great too. Really puts into perspective just how perverse and grossly overpowered the Neo body is and how disastrous he would be if he ever made it out of the basement.

This was so well done, the scene with the "garbage noise" was incredible
I like that It implies Blue Adison understood more than garbage noise but decided to not reveal this traumatizing experience for some reasons.

I've always liked the idea that the adisons speak in advertisements as though it were a second language, and that they sometimes just slip into it on accident

It makes sense. Spamton might've defaulted into it when he got corrupted.
I mean, I’d say it make sense… It’s kinda like being bilingual, you have one language as your main one but sometimes you say specific things in your secondary language because your more comfortable with it (then again, speaking in ads is a lot odd)
Them just randomly blurting it out without control though does indeed make sense though, more sense than it being a “language”
I guess Spamton completely losing control of himself caused him to lack any form of control over it
Or it could just be that they go into an advertising "mode" when they get anxious, like a compulsion, since that's a default for them and they're probably anxious all the time when they put on their game face.
This short film definitely felt like a nice story wise way in telling Spamton’s backstory. I love how it also gives in more depth on the other Addisons and how they had an interesting connection with Spamton too.

The bit where blue accidentally pitches while rehearsing his greeting for spamton made me rethink Spam's speech quirk a bit. He's obviously under some kind of control, hence how he breaks free briefly during the shop dialogue, but the strange pop-ups in his speech might not be a different signal worming its way in. They might just be spamton's pitch programming, just malfunctioning terribly and popping up at all the wrong times.
YES! The more time passes, the more purposeful (only some) of Spamton's lines seem, and the more I believe he always talked like that!
(There's also the fact he and Jevil probably weren't capsLOCKED before their shadow crystals)

this was just amazing, some people forget that spamton is not just a fun and silly character, he is truly terrifying and his story is like a horror movie

I don’t think anyone forgot he was a silly character because if you ACTUALLY READ THE DIALOGUE DURING HIS FIGHT (I’m yelling at myself) you can tell he has issues and is a deep character I also loved the scene in the animation where THE WORLD REVOLVING starts playing as piano

The choice of portraying Spamton post-sanity in a different art style REALLY makes him stand out and gets across how fargone and other-worldly his thinking had become. Plus, the choice of using stop motion totally emphasizes that puppet-esque feel. There's so much to love about this video. I'm honestly blown away by the quality.

@@timothylinga1427 Maybe because he only listened to the phone once, he's not as far gone. Spamton listened to it for what's implied to be months, on a daily basis.
Honestly, the most terrifying part of all of this is the start of the vision during the phone call sequence, it just cuts from the chaotic and scary noise to a quiet, serene vision of heaven, theres just something so utterly chilling about it that I cant fully describe.
I think the reason why Addisons slip into their salesman persona when they’re agitated is because that’s literally what they are at the most fundamental core of their Being. Almost like a reflex that is native to their species, they are literally ADdison’s meaning they are AD’s made Incarnate and sentient so to them it must be natural, sorta like a racial trait that is indigenous to their kind. Probably like a coping mechanism of sorts or perhaps their natural instinct to advertise is the most basic and fundamental state of their being, that they retreat into in times of extreme-pain or emotional distress. Something along the lines of a defense-mechanism in when a creature can’t take more anguish than it is capable of dealing with, it (in order to avoid going insane) it retreats into its most basic fundamental behavior as is dictated by its species.
Which makes Spamton all the more tragic when you realize that he’s literally stuck in “Addison mode” all the time because he can’t deal with how wrong his life has gotten. It’s gone to a point where he is viewed as insane by all others despite him being forced to behave this way in order to NOT go insane. The only ones who can probably understand what he’s really trying to say under all that Salesman talk are his fellow addisons, but whatever they know they’re not letting on…… Not completely anyways.

This is fucking INSANE, everything was done so well, ESPECIALLY the art direction! The usage of different media styles in the flashbacks, hallucinations, and the phone's feeling just makes it so much more creepy and engaging in its execution. The strong hints of character present in the body language and dialogue really helps to suck you in (like those little bits with Blue practicing what to say and occasionally slipping into their energetic advertising voice even when stressed out is SUCH a good touch), and just the slow pacing towards the buildup is fantastically well-done. WONDERFUL interpretation of this moment!

I especially loved how in the most stressful moments, the sketch lines became more apparent. For example, when blue reaches for the phone. Maybe it's just coincidence but I personally think that it's a genius way of emotion
The build up to Blue actually answering the phone, and us never fully seeing Spamton until that glimpse at the end

one time I was playing deltarune. I was in spamton's shop when I got a phone call. I took the call but left the game running. As I continued listening to the spamton shop theme in the background, I swear I started feeling anxious and a little bit of dread, even though I had no reason to. it was truly haunting because I had never noticed how creepy that song was until I *really* listened to it. 10/10 songwriting from toby fox.

God- I loved the details in these so I'll talk about my favorite ones.
1. The telephone wire around Spamton's neck. It shows here how addicted Spamton is to the telephone. Like it's a drug. It feels so good...however, it's slowly killing you and changing you and you don't realize until it's too late. Spamton lived in Queen's mansion, was the number 1 salesman, lived in luxury because of that phone but at the same time, Spamton lost his friends and himself in the process to descend to "heaven" and the price was paid. He even looks different to Blue in the flashbacks.
2. The frame picture. It shows Spamton with all the Addisons at Cyber Grill however Spamton changed it. Yellow, Pink, Orange, and Blue's faces are scribbled on and Spamton himself has a halo and wings. However there is a interesting thing. Orange, Yellow, and Pink's faces are completely scribbled out with black ink to the point you can't see their faces at all but Blue's? There's just a red X across his face. This probably shows how Spamton felt betrayed and wanted to forget them completely...unlike Blue. Spamton does show he's mad at Blue, but maybe somewhere deep inside him, Spamton still cares about Blue.
3. The Mural. My god, not only is it so beautiful, it shows so much. In the center is Spamton in his Neo form, smiling and big as ever. To the bottom, you can see some hands sticking out, one pink, another yellow with the words "Big Shot". I think it's the addsions begging. In the Spamton Sweepstakes where the link is d-a-m-n-y-o-u-t-e-n-n-a, Spamton says he's going to make everyone pay for hurting him and it shows in this mural. I can also see green strings coming down, just like in Spamton's fight in Deltarune. And the fact Spamton is in so deep that he painted this in his own room is...unsettling. Also you can hear Big Shot playing in the background.
4. When Blue heard the garbage noise. There's alot of details here. The image of Heaven's Gates, Hands trying to grab Blue as he reaches for Spamton, How it switches from Spamton to a blue heart, how Spamton's halo slowly has horns like the ring you buy from Spamton in the SnowGrave Route, how Spamton melts showing a detailed smiling puppet version of him.
5. Blue Addison himself. In just 5 minutes, we see things from Blue's perspective. How he sees Spamton hanged by the wire, how he's worried, possibly gulity?, and goes to check on Spamton to see if he's okay, how when he gets stressed or nervous he goes to salesman mode, how he sees Spamton in the flashbacks, how Blue desperately reaches to Spamton to maybe save him from this terrible fate,, and when he breaks away from the garbage noise from the telephone and seeing what Spamton has become, he cries knowing that his old friend is gone.
Sorry if I misinterpreted some of these, I'll edited them if I notice anything.
I love how you notice the details of the video and I’ve also reversed the audio where spamton picks up the phone in the daydream or whatever and he says something like “I’ll dial you in an hour, go ahead with the angels they lead to thy rest” and that’s all I could get from it and I reversed all the other ones but they are kinda confusing to interpret but the one where spamton is bragging to the other addisons he says the same thing and when they are arguing I’m not sure what they say cause it’s hard to hear.
I think also the mural has the yellow light as like the heavens light peaking out. But with some over spamtons limbs, it’s also foreshadows the strings holding him down.

Cyan's weeping at the end felt far more 'nerve-tugging' than 'tension-releasing' to me, which makes the entire origin story even better, as it allegorizes Spamton's ever-going internal conflict with himself, which only accumulates, instead of ending.
The motion design and visual style for this was phenomenal! I love Blue's visceral reaction when hearing the garbage noise and how you represented the cursed knowledge of what influenced Spamton affecting his experience, really expertly turning a mundane scene of putting a phone up to one's ear into a fight-or-flight moment for the audience too! Keep up the incredible work!!

This turned out so well- the horror aspect was so well executed, the voice acting felt dead on to how I imagined them, and Addison ad-quirks made the whole thing feel so unique and genuine. Everyone did such a lovely job on the project, this was an absolute masterpiece ❤

i noticed somthing genius, how closer you can to the phone man that makes you go insane(prob gaster or somthin) the more you see the sketch layer of the animation. the truth in deltarune is that its all just a game. so in an animation it would mean that its all just an animation
There’s something I realized about Spamton from his appearance at 4:31 near the end, from how the white that once was on his face melts off to reveal his appearance when we see him in game, to his eyes and mouth being far too wide.
*He looks bleached*
It helps get the idea across that he fell in acid like was seen in the Flex Tape video made awhile back.
And Queen did say that the acid would shrink you if you fell in…
Other cool details:
-Dialtone starts playing as Blue starts angrily walking towards the phone, but you can hear a jumbled version before that by paying attention and streamlining the two different songs playing as it switches between Blue walking and flashbacks.
-It almost feels like Spamton is portrayed as being addicted to the phone, due to how he constantly talks in it, and seemingly is defensive of it during a flashback, to the point he seems to have attacked Pink during an argument about it.
-Blue’s eye turns into a save point when we zoom in to see the hallucinations.
I love how the phone line is constantly likened to a noose around Spamton’s neck.

This may be be one of the best depictions of Spamton's mental decline in the eyes of someone else. The fact that we see from quick flashes how Spamton's life fell apart and how he loss all the Addisons is tragic. Along with how mortifying the effect of the phonecall had on Blue Addison.
It's even more horrific how quick the effect was. It teared me up seeing how Blue Addison look so scared seeing a glimpse of his friend going so quick into complete depravity with such a bone-chilling grin. It made it worse for me at the end. I feel so terrible for Blue Addison having to visually see what Spamton has become and he will never have his friend back.
I'm also blown away by the mural on the celling. That alone only shows how truly gone Spamton was. Everything about this little guy is tragic. There's no other way to describe it, since I sometimes feel somber when I think of him.
I'm speechless by your use on colors and graphics. I could go all day on how it adds so much to the atmosphere of this short. And the voice-acting was so well done by the Addisons. Even the crying got to me and that usually doesn't happen.
You guys did such an amazing job! Kudos to everyone that worked on this!

-Spamton during the Snowgrave fight.
It was an addiction.
It felt so good in the moment, but he didn’t realize how much it was harming him till it was far too late.
Spamton went in too deep, he got too addicted to the Dialtone, and he realized too late that he had been stringing himself up with a phone line round his neck…
He lost his friends,
His fame,
His fortune,
His hopes and dreams,
Even his sanity.
He lost everything.
He lost it all and more when he reached too far and let himself go.
In more or less 3:58, when it switches from the telephone to Spamton walking off to answer it, it just feels so sad. It looks like, now thats everythings lost, the family, the connections, the job, the money, Spamton, still mad at the other Addisons, just tries to go back in time and live again where it hurts the fewest.
Also: I just really like how the Spamton's room is made, because imagine this: What if Spamton never had his room luxuriously styled, but more like _this._ And picture him sitting there, talking on the telephone. *Youll get goosebumps.*
This is a masterpiece, Really well done. That shot of the neo body with the choir singing the opening notes of BIG SHOT. The garbled noise scene. I love it.
The garbled noise scene was gasters sound effects, gaster is the cause of spamtons insanity.
THIS. WAS. SPECTACULAR.
Watching this had me silent. Blue Addison's hallucinations were so disturbingly interesting - the different styles and the bright colors were very off-putting in an amazing way. I found myself shaking and shedding tears near the end, absolutely marvelous.

Wow, that was amazing. It’s crazy how you were able to make a full fledge animation just from one sentence the blue Addison said.
Every single aspect of this animation is INCREDIBLE, the style, the voice acting, the music, the lighting and shading, just EVERYTHING. I just know I’m gonna be sitting and examining each frame for hours, cause MAN was my first watch through of it so so good. I can’t wait to get a better look at those brief shots towards the end, especially the ones where Blue saw what Spamton saw because of the phone. I got chills at that mural on the wall too, it’s strangely beautiful yet uncanny.
And spamton’s movements throughout the whole thing up until those last few shots where the ads were fighting were so creepy and amazing too! He looked like a stop motion, paper-like character.
Seriously, you should be SO proud of this, cause it’s so amazing. I can’t wait to see your future projects

I really love the way you portray the sudden panic the addison feels from interacting with the phone, it really shows how Spamton became who he was in the game. i also love the refrences too angels and heaven, and how Spamton sees himself reaching them when he finally becomes a bigshot.

DUDE! This is some insane quality of fan film. Everything is on point. This feels like a professional production. Everything absolutely hits the mark. I especially LOVED the music queues. The way Spamton's motifs creep into the scene. Spamton himself just was more terrifying than you'd expect from the little guy. Really INSANE work. Keep it up.

I find it interesting how everyone agrees blue cared about spamtom the most because he went to go check
And everyone portrays pink as the haughty "bad" one who was the most jealous
For me, I think this animation equals to 10 Spamton Sweepstakes events, it's just too good. Spamton is such a great character, he's a perfect combination between hilariousness, scariness and tragedy.
I didn't expect anyone to go as far as making some little dialogue lines from the game into a cinematic experience. The moments when Spamton's attached to a telephone string legitimately sent me chills because of both the visuals and how accurate it is. Gotta adore the small bits where we get a little flashbacks/hallucinations of when Spamton was just a cheerful young salesman, making calls through his little telephone with a charming smile, hanging out with the other Addisons and shooting his mouth about changing his life by being a [[BIG SHOT]]. And then switched to when his career and life were falling apart; the Addisons barged into his room yelling at him, seemed to had burst into violence and had to resolve the situation by grabbing him by force.
I'm in love with how you guys even drew the sudden shock Blue Addison had when they put the receiver to their ear. And the fact that they immediately broke into tears and hugged the phone to their shoulder upon realizing that Spamton has already stranded way too far off from his old self that everyone's once loved, and that they've lost him forever because of their decision of leaving him made my heart sink to my stomach, I feel SO BAD for the man... This should be blowing up in views soon!
The unease, the sound design, the near silences before an anarchy of dial tones and ringing showing that the Spamton the Blue Addison once knew is gone...

But really, this is CRAZY! I swear, the amount of details in the garbage noise scene is frightening. The Angel in Heaven, the hands reaching for Blue, Spamton literally CHANGING art styles, it’s insane! I also noticed that Blue isn’t able to get the entirety of “Hello?” out, so it just sounds like hell. Idk whether that was decided or not, but awesome job anyway. The eerie vibe in the room, the scrawled “Big Shot”s everywhere, the chorus, Spamton portraying himself with a halo as seen in his mural, group photo, and Blues vision, it’s all perfect. Everyone sees Spamton as this goofy, memeable character, but this reminds everyone that he made a [[DEAL]] with the [[MIKE]]. Thank you.
Gosh, the hallucinations and mixed media sequences really reminded me of Madoka Magica for some reason, and it inflicted the same kind of worry as it did there. It looks so striking and out of place, and then all the spooky stuff gets you. And I gotta say, I love how during the telephone sequence Spamton started as a crayon scribble like Blue Addison, only to become creepily realistic as the crayon melted away. Wonderful choice, thank you for making this.

The garbage noise scene is incredible, the absolute terror in it perfectly fits what it feels like the first time you try to use your phone in the dark worlds, or when you interact with the bunker

My favorite part of 2:30 is how it makes Spamton’s really weird mech look like an actual suit, which I assume is what he already imagines it to be. You can even see a tie flapping in the wind, and as an avid tie collector myself I LOVE that detail!
That 3:45 dial tone leitmotif gave me CHILLS, man. So good

It's really how funny how just today I thought about how cool an animation of Spamton's backstory would be. Just a few hours ago, probably right as this video uploaded... and I gotta say you delivered. In particular, I thought about how the Blue Addison picking up the phone and hearing the garbage would look mighty powerful. I imagined it almost exactly as it looks in this thumbnail. I'm really happy you made this.
Not exaggerating when I say this is one of the best animations I've seen regarding Deltarune. The sheer horror of Spamton's demise & his condition was depicted to perfection. His complex relationship with the Adisons was potrayed very faithfully & any additions made suited the situation best. Not to mention the clever use of Spamton's music with added dissonance really set the mood.
This is simply one of the best I 've seen. Bravo 👏👏
The music was PERFECTLY DONE OMG IT WAS BEAUTIFUL AND THE GARBAGE NOISE BIT AND THE NEO THEM AND THE SHOP THEME PLACEMENTS AND MOOD AND EVERYTHING ELSE AS WELL OMG
I noticed a lot of details I've noticed
-Pink was the only one who stood up to go after blue. Knowing how Blue has a connection with Spamton
- 1:44 Blue uses more advertising sorta behavior when he practices saying Hi to spamton again because he is a addison. Its his whole thing.
-2:30 there is hands reaching up to Spamton. Either they are Gaster's hands trying to bring him down to "the dark" or its the addisons hands.
-2:45 Everyone except Blue is completely covered in black. Which shows that Spamton cared for blue a lot more than the others to not cross his face out
-3:12 Spamton is noticeably very shy and humped down. If you look at the graph behind him showing Pink and Yellow (or orange) having the highest sales while Blue and Spamton seems to have the lowest.
-3:14 in the background we see all the addisons including yellow and pink not paying attention to Spamton while Blue is.
- 3:21 Spamton is more confident and standing up straight looking at the graph and not at everyone else. There's another line that is on the graph that is extremely high meaning Spamton was being super successful
-3:25 Pink and Yellow are noticeablely uncomfortable around Spamton. Meaning they are worried or unhappy with his success.
-3:28 Pink is fighting with Spamton which means he blew up on him while Yellow is very hessitant and Red/orange is smiling at him getting berated
-3:31 Spamton and Pink has black stuff on their heads which imply there was a massive altercation. Blue is reaching out trying to calm him, Yellow is restraining him, and red/orange is stopping Pink from fighting.
-3:32 From the lighting and the scene it either means they are in a separate room or that this is blue's home and Spamton is leaving him which could mean leaving on their friendship with the cellphone almost convincing him to leave.
-3:58 implies blue got mad. This could mean he yelled at Spamton like the others or him trying to take the phone away. Its up to interpretation
-Blue answers like a customer service. Like a addison. He's a business man
-4:22 we save the save point in UNDERTALE.
-4:23 we see a heavenly gate with a black sort of star in the center and birds chirping. This could be the knight being in the lightner world (and we know the lightner world is the real world in Deltarune) meaning it reveals Spamton's existence as a spam bot on emails. However, that is up to interpretation.
-4:50 In the background we see a broken Mirror and Broken TV. This means Spamton saw Mike or the smile on the TV in chapter 2 and broke the mirror seeing his puppet like face.

It was so cool to see how Spamton had drawn the machine from the basement on the walls, it really makes it show how much he thought it would do for him! (It’s also cool how it looks less robotic and more like a part of him, and the wings look more organic as well!)
I also find it cool how the phone scene played out, the way it made it seem like just picking up the phone was enough to start seeing/hearing what Spamton may have, and it is SUCH a cool way to do that!
Impressive animation. The tale of the addisons has been told many times, but this itineration gave me the shivers. The garbage noise it is truly a horror out of that world.

I just love the depictions of the in game goofy stuff like the butler sliding towards the door with the horror of the scene itself and blue being scared
So unbelievably smooth and detailed! So many parts you put so much effort into where you didn't have to, like the Blue's memories while walking to the phone. I don't think I can say anything that hasn't already been said. I also like the little detail of Spamton only crossing out Blue rather than scribbling him out like the others, showing they weren't as bad to Spamton as the rest.
But most of all, this really puts the horror of Spamton's backstory into perspective. How he was living a hell for so long, and how just taking a glimpse into his world was enough to horrify Blue.

I love how you gave each of the Addisons a unique body type.
I always find myself coming back to this video every now and then and it blows me away every time. Each time I discover something new to appreciate about it. Today I noticed that in the red, white, and black frames at 4:22 and right before it, the black lines around the Addison's face don't match their actual face. Instead, it looks like an open mouth "grin", and eye blacked out eye with no pupil, and, perhaps most interesting, a black line running from the left eye to the mouth. (hmmmm, that sounds a little familiar...) This whole short film was directed so so well. Incredible job to everybody who worked on this project.
Of all the horror in this video, I think my favorite thing is probably the graphs... It's not scary, but it still manages to make use of the uncanny valley.
I'm pretty certain that the black line represents spamton's sales, which are depicted with long, straight lines and occasional bumps down when the slope changes. When put next to the sales of all the other Addisons, it's so clear that it's a mimicry. Sales usually make trend lines, not straight lines. It's chaotic and ever-changing, with occasional peaks and valleys. The only times that it ever goes down are with the changes in the slope, and only goes decreases in small amounts. There's something so wrong about the fact that it's even up there, despite how clear it is that it's just a mimicry. As if they had already gathered detailed evidence to check if these were even real numbers, and yet it still came out straight even if the other addisons were to check the math. And if they didn't check, it's disturbing in hindsight to know that they trusted him enough to not question how strange and "too good to be true" it all was. The lie kept going, even after the effort was put in to draw it on the wall.
This film made me feel scared in a way I haven’t felt in months. And some parts were so creative and wonderful that I felt small In comparison. This is not art. This is something greater. Thank you for this. Thank you.

Ok this animation is both so cool and so terrifying, absolutely love how you frame the psychological horror that the Blue goes through, forcing himself to face his guilt, wanting desperately to be there for Spamton, fighting through everything even though he knows it's too late... what a terrifying fate.
And the score too just, mwah. 0:45 The musical sting of Spamton's theme off-key as he gets hanged by the telephone wire he is just, perfection. The chorus at 2:25 chanting BIG SHOT as the Blue Addison stares at Spamton's obsessive mural (which in itself is awesome and perfectly lines up with his painting of "heaven" in his shop) is awesome to look it. And then the waltz, warping between a serene scene and a disturbing cover of Dialtone as Blue shifts in and out of the present... and then... then the garbage noise. The way everything warps around Blue, pulling him in, pausing, showing a beautiful scene of Heaven, then tearing it down, tearing him apart, reaching to his very soul, showing Spamton's suffering and how he will never escape, how Blue will never escape until- Blue snaps the wire. The same wire that took his friend. Let only to himself now in the darkness, as the theme of that mystery man echoes in the background, the sound of the receiver gradually building. Seriously, this score accompanies everything perfectly, it feels like some professional stuff. Great work!
Holy hel, this was definitely worth the wait! I know Spamton is usually meant to be broken, but it’s brokeness is taken up a huge notch. The colors, pictures, tone, and vibe of the whole thing is just amazing.

I learned about this project only a week ago, but just from the trailer and teasers alone I was really hooked into this. I waited with anticipation for today and WOW this was absolutely incredible. It exceeded all my expectations. In just over five minutes you managed to create one of the most emotional and beautiful animations I've ever seen in my life. Everything from the colours, effects, the voice acting, the animation itself. It's all perfect. I really don't have much more to say about this, and I'm sorry, as what I've said really doesn't do this video justice, but I think this is officially my favourite animation ever now, haha. Can't wait to see more of your projects! Your art is just incredible
