    Thank you so much for what you do. Your so kind and respectful of the places and people that have passed on. It is always an adventure when I watch your videos. I loved Carole Lombard in the movies and thought she was really beautiful and talented. It's just so sad that young people die so tragically. Stay safe in your adventures.

    I knew the history and the place to read it in biography. I love the stories you tell, from Elvis or from great actors like Clark Gable and Carol Lombard from the history of cinema. As a Spaniard, watching these landscapes makes me think when Spanish conquerors discovered these lands and gave them names 500 years ago. Greetings from Spain.

    The fact that Carole Lombard's name is misspelled on that memorial wall I find very odd. There is NO excuse for it. Clearly, they were big fans of her (not), and they could care less and mostly likely didn't even bother to read the newspaper clippings they have on their own walls (newspapers whom I sure BOTHERED to spell her name correctly. People today are something else.

      It's mispelled, too, at the Museum of WW2 in New Orleans. Why is it so difficult to correct? She deserves respect.

    Carole Lombard, her mother Bessie and Clarke Gables Agent flipped a coin whether to fly or take a train. Bessie had never flown before. The agent got air sickness. Carole wanted to get home sooner. She won the coin toss. Plane C3. Flight 3. Carole was 33 and 3 months old. May they all Rest In Peace.

    And she would've never gotten onto that plane had she been more reassured by Clark that he wasn't screwing around with Lana Turner . I highly recommend the book Fireball: Carole Lombard and The Mystery of Flight 3 by Robert Matzen . Yes it did!
      Clark was a woman magnet and was known for this. Carole knew this but clark was a private man who did not express himself well. Carlie was increasingly frustrated with this part of his personality. She feared Clark and the young starlet might b having an affair. She chose to get home quicker than the train. Whether he was or not Clark adored Carole and would never jeopardize his marriage. Carole was the best that happened to him and he knew it.

    I like "The Spa Guy". If you ever go up to Mt. Potosi, hold your camera real still, and try to get some video, of the actual impact point. Not "somewhere up there"...but the actual damage impact marks. There's GOT TO BE some evidence of exactly where TWA Flight 3 hit. And you mentioned they rode horses up that mountain, to see the crash site...I guess a truck or some kinda vehicle picked up the wings, and other parts. On January 16th,1942, there would have been plenty of trucks to carry those parts away...I wonder where? And what about the Wedding Ring? Is it true? Did Carole Lombard lose a ring up there, never found? And what about the person that lost a left arm. Could that be Carole's? Could that support the lost ring story? You have an exciting channel! Thanks again, for an exciting night with "The Spa Guy"!

      I have a radio relay component from that plane. I worked for Mt Charleston USFS through a caveat program for most of my career. I often hiked the trails as we worked on them. I was on the ridge line on the South loop trail that leads past that crash sight. My girl needed to release herself so I took the chance to do the same. As I was going, I looked down and saw a piece of shined metal. I picked it up and it was clearly made of aircraft aluminum and was clearly from the 50-60s. Knowing the history of the crash I sent pictures of the RCA serial number tag on the device and emailed the curator of the NV atomic testing museum. They confirmed it was from the plane. I figure some tried to hike it out long ago and abandoned it along the way. It’s about 3”x3” interesting.

    Clark Gable’s hangout at the Pioneer Saloon is a popular myth. Clark & his MGM entourage had bungalow’s at the El Rancho Vegas on Highway 91 where he had some privacy. The media mob used Pioneer as their base camp. If the burn marks on the bar are legit then they were made by reporters.

    • @weeklyspaguy
      @weeklyspaguy  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Although he was beyond the draft age at the time the U.S. entered World War II, Clark Gable enlisted as a private in the AAF on Aug. 12, 1942, at Los Angeles. He attended the Officers' Candidate School at Miami Beach, Fla., and graduated as a second lieutenant on Oct. 28, 1942. He then attended aerial gunnery school, and in February 1943, on personal orders from Gen. Hap Arnold, he went to England to make a motion picture of aerial gunners in action.
      He was assigned to the 351st Bomb Group at Polebrook and although neither ordered nor expected to do so, flew operational missions over Europe in B-17s to obtain the combat film footage he believed was required for producing the movie, titled "Combat America."
      Gable returned to the U.S. in October 1943 and was relieved from active duty as a major on June 12, 1944, at his own request, since he was over-age for combat. Because his motion picture production schedule made it impossible for him to fulfill his AAF Reserve officer duties, he resigned his commission on Sept. 26, 1947.

    It is a paragraph from Wikipedia regarding to the fatal flight. The book My Lunches with Orson, Orson Welles claims that he had been told by a security agent that the aircraft was shot down by Nazi agents who knew of the route in advance.[13] He also claimed that the shooting was hushed up to prevent vigilante action against Americans with German ancestry.[13] This theory has been questioned by Robert Matzen in his book Fireball: Carole Lombard and the Mystery of Flight 3.[14]
