Cape Verdeans are black; my black granfather emigrated from Cape Verde. Many do not identify as African-Americans despite their exact same history of enslavement and transport to uninhabited islands and current colonization by USA.
So is Tunisia and Algeria because most of them are brown, Stupidity at it best

THEY would be the actual "African" Americans. That term implies direct descent from that continent. We're centuries removed from it but also, we're descended from Europe and the Native population of North America. We're quite literally indigenous to this country. We were here, centuries before it existed. Not to mention, our ethnogenesis was created HERE. We're not African, European, or "Native", but at the same time we're all of them combined. For all intents and purposes, we're just Americans. Black Americans, specifically.

We just simply point out how they're Black, specifically the ones who are unmistakably Black, but they go on a tirade claiming they're not. They've confused race, ethnicity, and nationality with each other. They're ethnically and nationally from their respective countries, but they're RACIALLY Black. Black does NOT equal African, by the way. No one's taking anything from you. Acknowledging one's Blackness doesn't negate their culture or identity.🤦🏿♂️

The DNC also uses what they think is our culture to appeal to us. The only difference is that they’ve been doing it long before the RNC has been doing it. It bothers me when it comes from either side.
They were in the early 90s it was mostly used to connect with young voters at the time.

Karen was wrong, tho. Her mother is Black from Cape Verde. She's dark skinned. Amber just looks racially ambiguous.
Thinking about it, I have a theory on why she keeps her hair cut short. I believe she's ashamed of her natural hair and doesn't want ppl to know that it's possibly 4C. Doja Cat was the same way. I remember she did a Live a few years back where she went on a drunk rant about having 4C hair, while wishing she had "mixed-ppl hair". She eventually cut it off, similar to Amber's hair.

To be fair, we make up 13 percent of the country so when we talk about rap, we will never be the majority of listeners. Never. The Portuguese discovered and colonized the islands. It was a huge Atlantic slave trade location. Cape Verdeans are descendants of Africans, free or enslaved. Amber's mother is Cape Verdean with brown skin. Her father is white.
