@desert grape By all means, no one should be acting unironically like Dennis is a mastermind. Because frankly, his success - failure ratio of his schemes are very rough. Lol. The Gang Group Dates was an excellent balance between the two extremes imo. It showed Dennis' scheming ways and then contrasted it hard with failure, lack of self awareness, crying ect. Lol
@@desertgrape I always thought The Gang Goes to the Jersey Shore was a good example of this. When he’s thrown in with some ACTUAL coldhearted ruthless killers, he’s just terrified and pathetic.

@Blackdiamondprod. There are different types of Narcissists. Some Narcissists have too much self confidence, especially those who are very well off, be it them being wealthy, be it them being successful and it goes to their head, be it them getting a lot of attention. So there are different types of Narcissists. The character of Dennis in Always Sunny has zero self confidence, so he tries to act like he’s superior to help hide his insecurities. That’s not your typical type of Narcissist. It’s basically fake Narcissism to help with ones low self esteem. A lot of people who suffer with depression and BiPolar Disorder might turn to Narcissistic thoughts to help them feel better about themselves. A lot of people seem to think that everyone with depression feels bad about themselves, while in a low self esteem way that is correct but some with depression might try and think narcissistic thoughts to help them cope. So as for the character of Dennis, I wouldn’t say he’s depressed, he just has zero self confidence in himself, which is why he hangs around with Mac and Charlie who both aren’t the sharpest knives around because Dennis wants to be superior. So while Dennis is very much a Narcissist, he’s not your typical Narcissist.
@@jeremiahg7925 dual-diagnoses exist, in fact they're very common. borderline fits really well imo, although i don't think he has abandonment issues likely because of the narcissism
I think Dennis strives to be an unfeeling monster, because it's an effective strategy at life. We can see this in WHEN he gets upset, usually something targeting his masculinity or age or manhood.
yeah it’s the BPD talking too, he let those episodes of unfeeling monster empower him and make him believe that’s who he is when in reality he should embrace both types of episodes
There's a lot of slight contradictions with his psychology lol He claims to feel nothing at times, and is even conscious of it. Also in the valentine's episode he was upset everyone forgot him. He also is hyper conscious of his physical appearance and shows vulnerability about it. Also he clearly does love Dee deep down, he doesn't show it often but he clearly does. He definitely cares for Charlie and is close with him, and has a codependent relationship with Mac. These are behaviours that wouldn't fit the usual narrcisistic tag Dennis is normally labeled with. It can be argued that he fakes genuine emotions and connections as a manipulation tactic, but he's been with the gang for decades, as it isn't profiting him to do so. People tend to say Dennis is a psychopath/sociopath. There is a lot to point towards this peppered throughout the show. He manipulates women and films them having sex, then ignores them without guilt and never forms a romantic attachment. He also intended to lure women onto a boat under the guise they wouldn't deny him sex for fear of retaliation 😅 the psychopath rather than sociopath label seems more fitting. People sometimes say he has borderline personality disorder which I don't see. He can be emotionally unstable and impulsive, but I doubt he has the ability to actually feel shame and sorrow, and values himself far to much to be suicidal. Another condition people claim Dennis has is anti social personality disorder. He seems to display a lot of characteristics associated with this condition. Having problems with the law (bench warrants for sexual harresment), not being sensitive or respectful to others, having a sense of superiority, ignoring right and wrong and telling lies to get what he wants from others. In reality the whole gang could have anti social personality disorder lol In summary, I'd say he's a psychopath and has anti personality disorder. I don't believe he has narrcisistic personality disorder because he shows glimpses of his insecurities. While he exhibits some traits I don't believe he exhibits enough. He's delusional to how others view him and of his social status, but that seems more of a disassociation from reality

as someone with bpd, dennis is actually very similar to the way i feel emotions. basically just at the complete wrong times-- things that most people would find emotionally triggering i am completely indifferent to (my grandmother died of cancer and i literally did nothing, it was kind of scary), but a lot of other things that most people would not care about (like watching a tv show in which a random side character dies) makes me go into emotional overdrive. obviously there is some overlap, and i dont feel emotions more often than not. another thing is that when i feel emotions, i am never vaguely feeling them, im always feeling nothing or in some kind of hysterics-- its actually pretty scary to be like that sometimes, but youre never gonna catch me taking my meds haha, they just take away the few times i do feel emotions-- wow this was a bit of a rant lol

im really curious about the relationship/dynamic between dennis and dee growing up bc as much as he shits on her and isolates her as an adult, whenever he's losing it with really deep emotions (like digging up their mother or becoming crack addicts) he clings on to her like a little brother (even tho theyre twins). its really cute to see those fleeting moments
It's Mac who hates Dee the most. Dennis and Charlie mostly go along with it. Dennis liked her more/was more towards indifference during the first few seasons aside from teasing her a few times. Over the years he grew more hostile.
His reaction to mr tibs is so good, the shit once he turns around is 10/10. One of the best comedy character ever and Glenn’s performance is so goddamn good
literally it was one of the scenes that convinced me to be willing to watch all 16 seasons.. such a simple joke but so good with the rest of the show being so crazy
The gang used to have thus bizarre sincerity towards each other. The Reynolds had this toxic wholesomeness to them, and how protective Dennis gets towards Charlie like it’s his lil bro, the one he ate Donny u were the good one
dennis is such a controlling freak because he doesn't want to be hurt by anyone else which is why he immediately dumps any woman he dates. the stuff that makes him go apeshit is stuff that either takes him out of control or that implies he's not in control of his life. he puts up a front so he doesn't show his actual sensible, sad side, although it slips every now and then. he's not really a serial killer, he likes controlling everyone's lives so they can't hurt him back to the point that he fantasizes about killing people which is probably like the ultimate form of control over someone else in his mind. he would never do that though because he's actually a sensitive guy who is also kind of a coward, at worst he will pretend to be another guy which is the closest to totally controlling someone else's life (wearing another man's skin as he says) he's got definitely something wrong with him as it's revealed he hurt animals as a kid and wanted to be a veterinarian for the animals' skins (???) but also i don't know how accurate that is as he's been shown to like animals (agent jack bauer and the dog pound dogs).
He's definitely a serial rapist tho and I 100% believe that if he was put in a situation where it would be advantageous to kill someone and he wouldn't get caught he'd probably do it, hell he kinda got close to killing Charlie's father
i think he just fantasized about control for so long that he believed he MUST be in control, he fantasized about killing (as an extension of control) for so long that he believed he must be a killer. and then, because he can’t handle thinking negatively about himself, he inflated this killer self-concept. i don’t really think he wants to skin animals. i think he believes that he’s a psychopath, even though he’s just wounded, and in order to not shatter that self-concept any further he just engages in these weird daydreams. i really don’t think he’d hurt anybody, either. at least, he wouldn’t kill them. i really liked the episode where it shows dennis’ sex tapes. how he talks to the women for hours, genuinely listens to their problems. this is an example of when dennis’ negative self-concept is contradicted by his actual behavior. he watched back those tapes expecting to see himself: dennis, the rapist. instead he sees a sensitive man who’s being genuinely vulnerable. his whole character is plotted around that schism. his self-image performs as obsessively violent and masturbatory- but when he’s alone and vulnerable? his bedroom locks from the outside and it’s full of horrible devices, but i don’t think he’s ever used them. it comes off as machismo to me, something he WANTS to want.
@tonoornottono if u look at the Dennis system, the main reason that he wants these women to open up about their intimate problems is so they develop a sense of emotional reliance on him. He is never shown reciprocating that vulnerability and making a genuine connection with those women
Dennis having an existential crisis completely brought upon, and continually escalated, by himself about maintaining perfection is one of the funniest bits. Hands down. 😂
6:22 this is so oddly insightful. the idea that the reason he worships himself so much is because thats filling the psychological gap where religion for millions of years filled in. it's pretty crazy to think about.
Dennis is all emotions but he tries so hard to hide them. If they don't end the show with him being revealed as a serial killer I'll be disappointed lol.
Well, i'll agree he definitely gets emotional. And I know they say psychopaths don't feel emotions but he's definitely a psychopath so he must be the first
When he chokes up talking about/to schmitty it makes me actually so sad. he really loves these bastards more than anything and it’s so sad when you think about the deep shit he has going on connected to them and his past
The sad thing about dennis is that the group is so toxic and his emotions are so confusing all the time that when he does "Feel something" its so strong that it makes him breakdown. He doesn't show his emotions and it makes him seem crazy, but i guarentee if people treated him normally, he wouldn't be walking away with pills for bpd, he's very insecure, emotional bursts, guy needs love damnit!
when the writer's forwardly address his emotional/mental state by the joke of him walking out of Dee's independent therapy session telling everyone he got BPD medication
Its like Stockhol by proxy, but I kind of melted at that first scene when he looked sad. I'm so accustomee to the abusive, stone hearted sociopath he normally is lmao.
He's not a psychopath. The show specified that he has Borderline Personality Disorder, which is very different than psychopathy or sociopathy. An actual psychopath wouldn't be so self-conscious and insecure, or so concerned with how other people see them. So many times I've wanted to lash out at people who I hated.
Oh yes, so charming.
im really curious about the relationship/dynamic between dennis and dee growing up bc as much as he shits on her and isolates her as an adult, whenever he's losing it with really deep emotions (like digging up their mother or becoming crack addicts) he clings on to her like a little brother (even tho theyre twins). its really cute to see those fleeting moments
It's Mac who hates Dee the most. Dennis and Charlie mostly go along with it. Dennis liked her more/was more towards indifference during the first few seasons aside from teasing her a few times. Over the years he grew more hostile.
I’m literally crying for DENNIS REYNOLDS
Mac and Frank slapping the crap out of Dennis, I can't breathe😂 And when he's met with the reality that he's not as attractive as he thinks he is😂😭😭😭
His reaction to mr tibs is so good, the shit once he turns around is 10/10. One of the best comedy character ever and Glenn’s performance is so goddamn good
literally it was one of the scenes that convinced me to be willing to watch all 16 seasons.. such a simple joke but so good with the rest of the show being so crazy
he looked right at the camera while he turned and ruined it for me
@@oatmeal710 that’s the best part of scene lol
This was well put together
thank you!!
personal timestamp: 5:28 gang gets a new member, dennis' voice cracking & crying 4 every vulnerable apology he makes
The gang used to have thus bizarre sincerity towards each other. The Reynolds had this toxic wholesomeness to them, and how protective Dennis gets towards Charlie like it’s his lil bro, the one he ate Donny u were the good one
dennis is such a controlling freak because he doesn't want to be hurt by anyone else which is why he immediately dumps any woman he dates. the stuff that makes him go apeshit is stuff that either takes him out of control or that implies he's not in control of his life. he puts up a front so he doesn't show his actual sensible, sad side, although it slips every now and then.
he's not really a serial killer, he likes controlling everyone's lives so they can't hurt him back to the point that he fantasizes about killing people which is probably like the ultimate form of control over someone else in his mind. he would never do that though because he's actually a sensitive guy who is also kind of a coward, at worst he will pretend to be another guy which is the closest to totally controlling someone else's life (wearing another man's skin as he says)
he's got definitely something wrong with him as it's revealed he hurt animals as a kid and wanted to be a veterinarian for the animals' skins (???) but also i don't know how accurate that is as he's been shown to like animals (agent jack bauer and the dog pound dogs).
He's just a narcissist
@@realleon2328 i never said he made a genuine connection. he DOES genuinely listen, or at least he goes through the motions.
I like how sometimes he can be so sensitive then he suddenly gains the emotional unavailability of a mass murderer
Over the years of being untreated he has definitely spiraled downward but it makes sense that things from his past push him over
1:37 This gives me the feels. Poor Dennis has never looked so vulnerable.
😂😂
My favorite episode for that reason
Sometimes.. Even Golden Gods cry.
my mom literally did the Mr Tibbs bit to me at 7 yrs old with my stuffy & i had the same reaction as dennis lmfao
lmao thats so funny haha your mom is so cool
Lmao thats so fucked up haha your mom is so cruel
Call her a bird
"My mommy's a skeleton!!"
i love this
That moment with the kid was his most sincere moment
Dennis having an existential crisis completely brought upon, and continually escalated, by himself about maintaining perfection is one of the funniest bits. Hands down. 😂
i love yoyr videoms
thank you!!!!
lets get yuo some typeing lkessons bud
Most of the time when Dennis does feel sad its usually just his Ego being bruised ha
4:10 dennis having a soft spot for charlie just makes me 🥺
He has a soft spot for extreme home makeover not charlie
Remember emotions, like when you were 14-15?
transition at 8:13 is excellent
This is a superb compilation. I'm thunderstruck.
There were a lot of hidden onions used in the making of this video
5:00 ... I dont know why but this is hitting the right chuckle buttons at the moment 😂
“I don’t have to explain myself to a worm sucking idiot!”🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do I look foolish?
Funniest part is out of all of them Dennis is the voice of reason and logic. Somehow
1:24 i've never seen the idol but from what i've heard this is the entire show lol
He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man.
6:22 this is so oddly insightful. the idea that the reason he worships himself so much is because thats filling the psychological gap where religion for millions of years filled in. it's pretty crazy to think about.
He never once implies that bruh .. ur either reaching from smoking too much of that sht or sniffing too much of that sht
I feel TOO much I FEEL TOO MUCH
Dennis is all emotions but he tries so hard to hide them. If they don't end the show with him being revealed as a serial killer I'll be disappointed lol.
My favorite is when he tells the dog "cmon guy" because hes so cute 🤣
as a bpd enjoyer-- dennis represents me at my worst, heart emoji
5:40 5:57 6:17 He cant give compliments so he pulls out the onion move 😂😂
I had no idea they set up the tim murphy shit from the very beginning
Well, i'll agree he definitely gets emotional. And I know they say psychopaths don't feel emotions but he's definitely a psychopath so he must be the first
Hearing Dennis randomly say “That is a horrible thing to do to another human” 😂😂
“I didn’t mean to thunderstrike you” is so good!
"I didn't mean to hurt ya, didn't mean to thunderstrike ya'' kills me everytime
He might be a serial killer but he is adorable sometimes and I wanna give him a hug
Why do i feel like dennis is my inner beast tho?
when the writer's forwardly address his emotional/mental state by the joke of him walking out of Dee's independent therapy session telling everyone he got BPD medication
currently losing the idgaf about him war
i’ve been lost
Its like Stockhol by proxy, but I kind of melted at that first scene when he looked sad. I'm so accustomee to the abusive, stone hearted sociopath he normally is lmao.
It's funny how much younger they looked in the first couple of clips but then they quickly look about the same age as my current point...
Dennis is the Scranton Strangler. Think about it.
He's not a psychopath. The show specified that he has Borderline Personality Disorder, which is very different than psychopathy or sociopathy. An actual psychopath wouldn't be so self-conscious and insecure, or so concerned with how other people see them. Yes, Dennis frequently does horrible things, but that's because the entire gang does horrible things on a regular basis, and clearly they aren't all psychopaths.
i’m a firm believer in borderline dennis!!!!
@@desertgrape It's not even a theory, it's official canon! He gets diagnosed with BPD by a psychologist in the Psycho Pete episode.
@@farrahyahia1141 i’m aware lmao. i say believer because many people brush it off as a joke or misdiagnosis. even glenn said he is not confident enough to fully back the diagnosis because he’s not informed enough about the disorder.
The reynolds family is the family I should have been born in lol
Why?
As Frank's real child, or a bastard?
i think he went from being kinda sane at the start to barney stinson knockoff to a psychopath and an alleged murderer.
"Yeaaa, he has a thing for gasoline. He was born in a pool of it :)"
The implication of feelings
“They call you Mr. Tibbs!”
😂
is that..THE desert grape? instant subscribe haha, incredible video!
RIP mr tibbs 😭
He's def using the onion in the Shmitty episode
1:42 this sadly is actually how a lot of physical abuse works... the gaslighting is insane.
frank is an unbelievable manipulator it’s crazy
@kafkasmilk it's pretty wild since his S.I.N.N.E.D. system is basically "mommy issues" turned into a strategy. Barbara messed him up too.
His reaction to Charlie's mom having cancer is the best
Poor Mr. Tibbs! Who's the Psychopath now Dee?
Dennis feeling bullied, rejected, and conflicted
My mommy's a skeleton! Hahahaha
they were they are all from the earlier seasons shows you he's really grown into the psychopath he is
Didn't think they would get me, but they got me. 11:25
