great shots, PS: what you have is a toadstool, a mushroom has the umbrella down, the toadstool has the shape of an umbrella flipped over, as if in a wind storm. Toadstools are mainly poisonous, Mushrooms you can eat safely, ONLY some!

Can the Fujifilm XF80mmF2.8 be used with the GFX 100? If so.., any thoughts/opinions? Great content.

the XF line is made for the much smaller sensor of the X line, so it wont cover even full frame, GFX is larger then full frame. afaik there are no XF adapters out there to mount those lenses on other cameras/bodies/systems. lens coverage just is made for the smaller sensor and wont cover bigger ones.

Wonder how long an ext tube, or bellows ext, to push the laowa far enough to cover the sensor, then will it resolve the full sensor? Very surprised to hear the GFX designed macro is pants. Heard the Canon 100mm L was good but thenI saw some examples and too much vignetting. I saw some Canon 85 or 65mm macro on GFX and that was much better for the sensor fit.

not sure, and yes the GF macro is a great portrait lens IMO but useless for macro. TTartisan just announced a 100mm 2.8 2x macro for GFX, available now for under 350$ which is pretty crazy, looking to get one and test it, might be the answer, no rings!

@@paulschefz well that is timely news. currently not sure to go GFX100/A7RIV/A7RV and its only the lack of affordable true macro that's putting me off the GFX. Most things in greenhouse, tripod, manual focus, remote shutter release. Not sure about shutter vibration with non stabilised lenses tho. Sometimes the tripod is very extended and takes 10 seconds to stabilise after contact. I expect the bigger the camer a the more the shutter vibration.

@@killpop8255 you are obviously correct, many factors to think about. I (dont think?) I have too many issues with shutter vibration. I do have this new lens on order, will definitely do a review when it gets here. 100mm, 2x macro, sounds like what I have been waiting for. the only thing that worries me is the (insanely?) low price? if they can pull this off it just makes everybody else stupid and greedy. we will see!

@@paulschefz I have seen 'sample' pictures on their website. I think they are really pushing it to say it's suitable for GFX with the amount of vignetting for the really close-up work. The sample pics have no context but I'd not be surprised if those shown are the best you can get and other apertures will just get worse. Or maybe I'm temporarily downbeat because I expected full image circle coverage - but why not if they release in GFX?

@@killpop8255 I think they use the same samples for all their lenses, this is the same lens as their T/S 100 macro for all other mounts without T/S (unfortunately) so it should cover GFX, its not that hard with a 100. I should have it in a few weeks and will get a review done asap.

In all seriousness the best macro solution on the GFX is to use the GF extension tubes and the brand new GF110mm T+S - its what we use - you can not only get super close, but also choose your focus plane and or stitch

Just posted another video going over my experience with different macro gear, I am happy to hear that the extension tubes work with the new T/S macro! I have not gotten anything useable with any GF lens at all! from what I have heard that 110 T/S is an amazing lens, I dont shoot product, so I dont have much use for it right now, definitely on my list though! would love it if you could comment on the use with tubes on the new video, I actually mentioned that set up but was doubtful it would work based on my experience with (pretty much) all other GF glass and tubes.

There is an official chart from fuji with "max magnification" / "working distance" / "shortest shooting distance" of all gf-lenses without and with 18/45 extension-tubes. I can post a link if I'm allowed, or just google for "fuji gf magnification chart".
As far as I understand it, every "extended" or reversed lens will focus only in a very small very near distance and no more to infiinity. I think one day I heard that there are combos (some lens and extension-tube) that then even focus inside the lens.
I will ask novoflex if they have some similar chart for the auto-reverse-system, or one day I do some serious tests and a chart with my own unit and my gf-lenses when I have some free time. What I have seen from my quick'n'dirty tests, some gf-lenses in reverse produce nice and high-magnified images and others have unusable distortions in the image.
But with all "extended/reversed" lenses we have loss of optical resolution, as far as I understand it, because image-circle get magnified and only a part of the "original" image-circle of the lenses goes on the sensor.

@nelsonclub7722 Can you direct me to some of your images? I'm trying to pin down the ideal 1:1 scenario with the GFX with little success. I've used the 45mm extension tube on the 120mm and it's terrifying outside of the center 1/7th of the frame. I'm trying to rationalize how tilting the plane of focus would improve the softening that focus stacking cannot improve.

@@tradewisetv2801 Us the 18 - the 45 on the 110 touches the object - it will be worse on the 120mm - The 45 is for almost scientific work - part of my studios work is forensic so cannot send images - but the 110 T+S is the absolute bomb when used with the 18 close up - nothing touches it - we tried everything - we also have a Hass Macro 120 on the CFV100 but only Fotodiox produces C/U rings and since a lot of our work is on location and they are not weather sealed we can only use that in the lab- hope that helps
