You guys finally caught on that Prince was a bandleader, he always called out what he wanted in words or signals to his band. They always had to watch him for signals. He was known to change up at any given moment. I loved when he would play different instruments during his concerts, guitar, bass, drums and piano! Add vocals and dancing to that as well. The man was on a totally different level. GOAT!!
I saw Prince in concert numerous times throughout his career and the man NEVER lip-synced, he ALWAYS sang live. So when I hear so & so lip-synced because of all he/she danced a lot I wasn’t buying it because Prince did it all in his younger years. Of course things changed when he got much older and had chronic pain and he wouldn’t dance as much but we ALWAYS got a phenomenal show!
The control & arrangement of his band is ELITE & ALIEN. People do not understand how difficult it is to be that tight of a band LIVE. So many chord progressions & then you have Prince who orchestrated it ALL. Prince was dancing , singing, giving us incredible electric, bass, acoustic, drum & piano solos. ALL songs he wrote HIMSELF. I’m sorry bro you can have your favorite artists there is nothing wrong with that at all. But Prince is the best raw talent we’ll ever see. He beat Mozart. You can’t name one artist that has done all that & was also the brains behind it, especially when you know the leader of your band “Prince” can play your instrument better than you lol. PRINCE dude 👑.
Thank you for the reminder. The last concert I attended was P&M at the intimate Sony Centre in Toronto. Noticed a few empty seats up front, so I tried to snag one...sat next to a super friendly couple who started sharing their thoughts on Prince. I'll never forget the one guy said "You know, he's not human. I'm convinced he's an ALIEN from another planet." My response was "he's definitely from a purple planet" ..and we laughed at ourselves wondering how many others thought the same. And then the ticket holders to the empty seats showed up..so I had to slide back up about 10 rows..lol.
Girl is Sheila E - drummer extraordinaire-she was rapping. Kat-is the one punching the dudes. Brooks - always called on stage when Prince called him. I loved this as a teenager. High energy & EVERYONE in his band had to be talented. Prince didn’t do second best
He played MORE than 27. There's a website about it and that didn't even include the harmonica which you see him playing in the "Thieves In The Temple" music video.
This is part of his movie documentary following his concerts--and double album--of the same name, "Sign O' The Times". To know what stuff means, watch the whole thing. It's so good. The woman drumming and rhyming is the great Sheila E. The great dancer/singer (from The Chi) is CAT. Fun fact: Michael Jackson loved this so much he started playing in his own concerts, starting with "Bad" tour, which, coincidentally followed the release of Prince's documentary.
There are guitar players. And then there are dancers. To do both all at once and still hit all those notes is extremely difficult. But Prince did that consistently during his performances. He did not put it on display during this particular performance. But the dude was like- UNREAL. His energy level was comparable to a James Brown. A Michael Jackson. Ain't no performer. NO performer today can match him.
I've been a prince fan for like 4 now and still amaze me the amount of energy he had on stage ...like he was jumping of pianos, playing different instruments, dancing, acting and SINGING cause my man didn't like to lip sync ... Just wow he is one of the greatest of all time for a reason and yet so underrated
Just think about an artist who gets in front of 20000 people and pretends to sing while adoring fans are screaming & clapping. It's so repulsive to me that I cannot believe that it's become commonplace, a lot of young people don't even care. Thank you Prince for keeping it real, he was really a once in a lifetime artist.
That was Sheila E He rehearsed his band 10-12 hours a day. They had to play at his level or he'd find someone who could. They had to be able to stop on cue and pick up where they left off or completely change what they were playing to something else and also he could add any of the 100 or songs they had to learn every tour at momemnts notice.
Sheila E. was on the Drums and the Rap. She is a famous percussionist. Her Dad played with Santana. Prince produced a hit single for her entitled Glamorous Life.
The dancing woman's name Cat Glover. The drummer woman's name is Sheila E. I've been to about 8 diffetent Prince concert tours. No 2 tours were the same but every show was too damn fun. I used to go broke just to his shows and I miss the hell out of him RIP 💔
React to Prince "Come Home" Written for Susannah Melvin 3 to 4 months after she left Prince for the 2nd time. You can hear Prince heart coming out in his vocals.

I think THEY chopped it up, so the video wasn't quite so long. They may have chopped it to avoid Copyright strikes, as well.
Too bad this video was awfully butchered. Please check out "Hot Thing" from the same "Sign the times" concert.
