Its not much better than a Panzer 2. In operation Barbarossa the 38t was pretty much a sitting duck for all the very capable Soviet AT guns. The riveted armor would fail spectacularly, and big chunks would break off and enter the interior causing a lot of injuries. I think Tiger ace, Otto Carius had a stint in one.....great read.

Yeah, this was easily the best tank when the war started. Mobile, reliable, cheap and with enough firepower. (Many early tanks had only machineguns, supposed use like infantry fighting vehicle)
Flipping between this channel and the Asenalen tank museum video to confirm whether this is actually a Swedish built vehicle. The gap between the road wheels and the patched hole at the rear says it is. Which is really cool. The things you learn from the cool stuff all the different museums put out.
I love watching this show, and all of the guys who work on these age old machines. What a great job., ever since I discovered this channel, you peopole are wonderful and awesome, keep the videos coming.
Having tracks that are tight when it's not being used to cross country absorbs more power and puts a lot of strain on the drive and idler sprockets. It also stretches and thus wears the track out faster. About 1.5 inches is quite normal. (From an ex-tank soldier and maintenance instructor with about twenty years experience). 🙂
Yeah, there is no propaganda machine behind him. Germans did not say anything about using tank from untermensch. Soviets did not say anything about tank used by germans Allies will not say anything about tank from eastern europe ...and France is still thinking how these tanks spearheaded through their defenses.
To be fair, Czechia was quite heavily germanised by the 1930s, and many Czechs could speak German. They weren’t treated nearly as badly as their more easterly Slav neighbours.

I think the Panzer 38t is very underrated, thanks for this!
Compared to a Panzer I or II, it is quite the MBT.
@@davidorama6690 I also think the
panzer II is underrated too, same as the panzer I, they were both very effective in early blitzkrieg tactics
There is entire anime about tanks, and T-38 has main role.
The little Czech tank that could!
Yes...After Germans updated it to fit German requirements.
Thank you for that video. I enjoyed it very much. Lehký tank 38 is the best of Czechoslovak engineering.
I never realised before, that the 38t is so small against an StuG
To be fair, it's a light tank, and a pre WW2 design (not actually German, it is a Czech tank that was adapted by them).
It helps make you understand why the jagdpanzer 38t was so successful. Tiny little beast could hide anywhere yet still have a 7.5cm main gun.

A tank quite ahead of it's time in certain aspects.
For an interwar design, it's a spaceship
It's easy to see why the Germans kept them in production, it looks like quite the useful design.

Greetings from Czech Republic. Its nice to see this vehicle restored and on the other side of the world. 👍👍👍

The "t" in 38t indicates "Tschechoslowakei" - Czechoslowakia.

Great way to set the hypemeter for AusArmourfest! 🤩
Taking your tank walkies :)
The 38t was the first armor model I ever built so it has a soft spot in my heart! So cool seeing it tinker around like that.

Will the tiger 1 be on display during Ausamour fest?
