FFun fact: Devilman's Devilmite Bean does no damage to anyone within the Son family, but does a shit ton of damage to Hirudigarn

*shrugs* How many of the z-fighters could be killed with it though, when you think about it? Goku was only immune as a kid because he was so innocent, but could you say the same of the rest of them? Or would Goku even still be immune to it at the time of Cell? I mean, according to Dragonball, it took the slightest trace of evil to make the technique kill the person, so that opens up some possibilities. SP Cell certainly could have used it on Vegeta and OG Cell could have tried using it on Piccolo when he discovered he was stronger at them moment. It would certainly have changed things.

Actually, based on dialogue from King Vegeta earlier in the mission, they already dealt with King Cold.
For those of you who don't know, yes, Devilman was also a manga by Go Nagai, the creator of Mazinger, Cutie Honey, Kotetsu Jeeg and others.
Interesting enough, if you beat Zarbon with Fasha, the match ends early and she gets a few unique lines of dialogue with Bardock,
“What If Raditz is good?”
Well ask Masako. He made a whole series of that.

Meganime Yeah IMO. While I do like the World Map and ability to recruit people for certain battles, BT3 at least had the mechanic of altering events in battle. Too bad it wasn't refined well.
You know. I kinda realize something. Why do they never try bringing back some of the weaker villains ever? I mean why not have a try at turning Raditz good at this point he is Goku's brother after all and is basically nothing compared to any of Z-Fighters. Besides I'd be pretty sure that because the way Sayians tend to do, he'd likely follow the people who bested them especially with his boss Vegeta being on the team. Seems like it would't be too hard to sway him, especially if they showed off Super Sayian.
The reason why him specifically is because being a Sayian he could be incredibly helpful and powerful with Goku and Vegeta training him, and I mean lets face it basically anything other than a Sayian(even half breeds like Gohan end up shafted) ends up lacking on the power scale. So it'd be interesting to have a new and actually useful/powerful Z-Fighter. Obviously Nappa I doubt could be much of an option as I feel he'd be a little *too* pissed off at them.
You're right, in that it'd be like another Vegeta. But Vegeta was just another Piccolo. And Piccolo was just another Tien. And Tien was another Yamcha. And Yamcha was another Krillin. It's just that they got progressively more evil each time, but they all started out the same way, an antagonistic character being won over and becoming good. Krillin was just a bully, then Yamcha was a bandit, Tien being apprenticed to Mercenary Tao's also evil brother, and so on. So considering that 90% of the Z-Fighters started out that way I don't feel Raditz is much of a stretch or too alike to any specific one of them.
I completely agree with the Nappa statement, in fact that could be interesting in of itself, maybe without thinking(or on purpose) they make a wish like "Revive all the dead Sayians on Earth" which brings both of them back. Could be cool a reformed Raditz fighting a raging Nappa.
In regards to your comparison of Devilman to David Bowie, fun fact: David Bowie actually did have a role in a video game once. In Omikron: The Nomad Soul (for the Dreamcast and Windows), Bowie played both Boz and the lead singer of the in-game band The Dreamers. Bowie additionally composed the game's soundtrack, with all the lyrical songs featured in the game ending up on his 1999 album 'hours...' (which was produced concurrently with his work for Omikron).

Am I the only one who has NO problem hitting the beams in this game??? Cause they say it's such a big problem but I have never had any issues with it and I still play this from time to time...

Their timing with it was pretty bad. There's a reason they had to resort to just cheesing charge attacks. You may not have to. But they sure do.
This game was pretty much my introduction to DBZ. I'd watched DB and a few episodes of Z before, but then I got hugely invested in this game and watched the anime up to the Namek saga. Chris Sabat and Sean Schemmel were actually the first VA's I've recognised, before I even learned how to properly speak english.
Loved that Devilman what-if, it's just such a funny idea. Considering Frieza would almost certainly dismiss him as a joke, I can honestly see Devilman just obliterating him before he realizes the threat. That goofy fight was a great way to end this series.
Sure feels weird revisiting this scenario after reading the Devilman manga, yeah...
Ah, no versus mode or tournament? You could fight each other and not worry about the AI knowing all the combos and stuff...

The Saiyan What if Scenario is so great, but to this day, I still don't know what the fuck adult Vegeta is doing there. Also I love how the game gives Vegeta only one bar of health after he talks big. They really don't want him to beat Frieza like that.

I liked how that ending bit was both a callback to Lani's "Goku's always screaming" joke from Attack of the Saiyans, and to MasakoX's what-if of Raditz being good.

One thing i consider worth mentioning is that the Tenkaichi series DID show a "What if Raditz was good" scenario. If you beat him as Piccolo in Tenkaichi 2 at the beginning of the Saiyan Saga, and it's quite interesting

the Android's would still probably show up, but he'd still be dead because of his heart
Goku would probably discover the form eventually, or just master the Kaio-ken to such a point that he wouldn't need to go Super Saiyan.
Gabriel Wright-Dunn would he even learn that or the spirit bomb? Raditz only went looking for him to fetch him for whatever shenanigans vegeta had going on. If bardock killed Frieza the events needed to lead to him training with king Kai might never come to pass

Alex Franco Nah. No Freeza, no need to go to Namek. If Goku doesn't go to Namek, he doesn't go to Yardat (or whatever it was called). If he doesn't go there he neither learns instant transmission or contracts the disease.

It seemed like that they wanted to get this game over asap and put the minimum amount of effort as possible. It's a shame really because this is the one game that I've been waiting for them to play for years and they didn't take advantage of it at all.

Then again it's a what-if so it's highly possible that time has passed so they've *slowly* discovered Frieza's double-cross.
Cuz it’s a what-if.... just like you said. So it’s not a part of the canon time line. This literally means “WHAT-IF the Saiyans led a rebellion against Frieza instead of ignoring Bardock”

I put so many hours into this game back in the day. Timing Energy blasts are definitely a strategy. They are generally more powerful then chase attacks.
Do not care how long ago this was- "he has space camo" about Freeza made me laugh until i cried.
Tut tut... Really should've been paying attention to how Max Power allows one to up their hit stun. Also, reminder: Story Freeza is vulnerable to Ki shots even without being at Max Power.
Forgot to mention it prior, but Vegeta(Early) has the most expensive and
powerful Garlic Gun Special out of all the variants, most likely to
reflect the fact that it was his most serious attack in the first fight
with Goku. It certainly does quite the respectable damage at Max Power
for example, should you choose it over the Rush Ultimate. Pales in
comparison to Super Garlic Gun of course.
And a darn shame Lani and Grant couldn't win with King Vegeta at least. He may be average as a fighter but he does have one of the higher Ki shot barrages by default, surpassed mostly and only by his son and a few others that can shoot more than 8 while standing. He is noteworthy for two weird downsides and unique upsides. His Barrage Special gives him the longest delayed recovery animation after shooting it all, so you're rather vulnerable if someone can get up nearby or wasn't knocked down at all; But by contrast he is the only Saiyan with "I am the King" that is a superior version of Saiyan Soul that also boosts Ki and Defense apart from the usual offense stats, making him more formidable in general. As a Great Ape, he's one of the better fighters in general, rivaling his son and only really notably lesser to Baby, but his Super Garlic Gun has an unusually high starting point from dispatch; It's possible to use it after an opponent used their Special and get screwed over just for how easy it can be for attacks to go under it the closer they are to King Vegeta before both could meet head on properly, but then it also means he has an easier time than most hitting overhead targets with the large beam if nothing else.
As for Devilman...? He's a fun frail one. Glass cannon. Fork Attack is his weakest move, but it does launch quick and costs just 2 bars. Demon Fork Rush... Is actually his best move; Only costs 2 bars, travels far and fast, hurts the MOST for what it costs and then some and more so at Max Power(if you want a Good Guy buster, this is the way to do it), and of course Devilmite Beam deals damage based on _Max Health_ percentage, so villains meant to fall in a single hit will always fall in a single hit regardless... Useless on someone like Goku though, obviously. It helps that he comes with a stun and dodging skill, but otherwise he does move very swiftly and his base damage is still good on its own. Fun Fact: He actually deals the most damage to himself if you take percentage into account.
... And I hope people found some joy in this playthrough. Not the full game obviously, but hopefully enough to get some into it for a while. Certainly a fine way to pass the time.
Do recall that baby Pan and THE PILAF GANG survived re-entry so yeah, just gonna go with bad space physics in DB
Pilaf Gang is basically the Team Rocket trio so of course they survived it.
"his ult is worthless because he can dodge that shit" bardok has one of the best ult because its nearly undodgable. it stops time when he uses it til he throws it and unless theyre already moving away, its gonna hit the target.

maybe it's just me, but everybody complaining about the rush attack strategy in every fight kinda needs to ease up. they're not doing this with intent to be pros at it, they're doing it with intent to just play through the game -- like anybody would be if they're just screwing around on the couch with friends.

Xenoverse beams are completely useless half of the god damned time. Black's Black Kamehameha ends up missing half the time when the initial setup punch lands: HOW IS THAT EVEN A THING?!?!??!

I sweaar, this game made me think Fasha was Goku’s mom as a kid.
Going back to that Super retelling of Battle of Gods talk near the start, the issue I had with Super's retelling of that and Resurrection F is that there wasn't any need to retell them. The core audience has most likely seen the movies already. And they stretch the fights longer than they needed to and added/changed pointless things just to pad out that arc. Take Bulma's birthday taking place on a boat. It was a change in scenery but the arc carried on as it did in the movie. At no point did them being on a boat ever become a crucial plot point so why change it? The only thing the change in location changes was the Pilaf gang having to row to the boat instead of just turning up at Capsule Corp. Sorbet being left alive for another example. All he did was get taken over by Ginyu, and Ginyu only lasted for one episode. The rest of the arc carried on as if he wasn't there at all! He added nothing to it other than extending that arc out by 1 episode.
What Super should have done, in my opinion, was assume that the audience had seen the movies already and started up with the Universe 6 vs Universe 7 arc.
They went the whole game without realizing they can cheese beam attacks too. All you have to do is launch a bunch of basic ki balls at them and make them deflect them, then launch your beam attack and it'll hit every time at a decent distance.

Demon Fork Rush is the best charge in the game lol. 2 bars, full screen charge, ultimate does 24k on villains. The only time I’ll be ok for them to spam the shit outta that.
Now, as for energy moves, you could do a gut punch and then charge up right in their face. Or, you could knock them away and then do it. Murr.
I really hope they play the other modes at some point. Like the create a character mode.

Think my favorite what if is the one where Zarbon goes rouge. That or the what If in Budokai Tenkaichi 2 where if you beat Raditz as Piccolo you unlock a what if where Raditz gets amnesia as a result. Hope Buu's Fury is fast approaching :D Love that game might download an emulation and play it with you chowder heads
25:00 Lani, there is no lock-on button. Your character will lock-on automatically if you leave them idle. There use to be a lock-on button on the first two games and you would start the match not locked-on. They replaced the lock-on button will a combo breaker, which is L1 on the PS2 version. That takes half a bar of health though.
You guys do realize the Goku and Vegeta have been planet buster since Saiyan saga, right?
them saying that android saga+ is needed to survive reentry honestly hurt my soul, there are calculations that put pre-Frieza Goku at relativistic speeds. fun fact: anything moving at relativistic speeds inside an atmosphere will experience far more heat then reentry could hope to generate.
There's a what if saga in Tenkaichi 2 that covers Raditz getting his head hit like Goku as a kid and him becoming a good guy.
In order to implement blast moves do the most basic of combos only hitting A at the end of it when your enemy is still flying away then activate your blast attack
