  • Terry Doe is the acknowledged master of airgun shooting, and in this new series he is passing on the skills, tips and techniques developed over a lifetime of hunting and competing.
In Episode 1 he showed Nicole Moore his world-beating sitting position, for super-accurate shooting with no need for bench, sticks or supports. But most airgun hunters take their shots standing up, making it much harder to be accurate.
In Episode 2, Terry shows Nicole the secrets of taking a quick and accurate shot from a standing position, drawing from techniques used by the top Olympic target shooters. Nicole is impressed, learns a lot, and along the way the two of them have a right old laugh.

Until you have tried standing and shooting free hand , it’s only then you realise how hard it is , I pest control a lot. I never take standing shots I’m simply not good enough and if you get it wrong you have injured not killed the quarry !!

I totally agree with you Terry but lesson one, and in my opinion the most important... Get a rifle with a descent stock so you don't have to hold a picatinny rail or an air bottle in your free hand. Don't shoot freehand with a bankrest rifle like that. I practice a lot of free hand shooting an do that with a rife that is also designed for that like my S410, or mount at least a hamster on that picatinny rail. The tactical pcp hype is getting insane. On a pcp with a descent stock you can also mount a bipod or shoot from a tripod if you want. The most pcp hunters think that they have shooting skills and show proudly that they can shoot small groups but they don't have shooting skills. I've seen an 11 year old girl bankrest shooting half inch groups on 30 yards with a pcp and she never had a rifle in her hands before. That took 10 minutes for her to learn, no big deal.

Try not to shoot standing up if you hunting, one can miss the right place and wound a game, especially if one shooting with a big claibbers.

No problem if you have the skills and control free hand shooting. The most don't.

I'll tried this with my tx200 not easy as it weighs 11lbs(4.9kg) with scope. Had to have a brew and some jammy doggers after.😂
