Finn is such a sweet dog, what a magnificent view, the scenery is amazing the tranquility, it's good when you can get out and enjoy nature, thanks for sharing stay blessed
I’m a Brit living in Manitoba, Canada and it drives me nuts stressing about bumping into a bear when hiking. Very pretty place and yeah, it’s looks like places I’ve hiked here.
The Benn was best. Partly because you can see Raven Crag from it, but also because there were no firepits. Keep waffling, we love the waffle!
Thank you 😊
Me and my friend were there when the fires up there were happening. Got some videos of it which i've never released. It was actually before i started doing TH-cam, like you say sometime around 2018. Edit: i was out filming yesterday and i was speaking to a bloke who said he loved your channel btw. He was off for a wild camp on the Grizedale Pike horsehoe somewhere :)
Agree with your rant.
Another inspirational video
All the views you show are stunning and majestic and a scene out of a painting. And let's not forgot how handsome he is! His eyebrows are spectacular!😊
Mate total class. Commentary was so entertaining.
Loved it as usual mate. Love the channel!
What a slendiferous walk!! Beautiful woodland, stunning scenery and that soft evening light...magical!!! And ultimately doable. So happy to see the Finnmeister...super cute as usual. Love it all, another winner Glenn❤
A really pleasant short walk up to Raven Crag, super views from Big Ben and up the steps of doom, lol. I liked the detour to the Fort. Sad about the fire starters. 🔥Just don't do it. Thanks Glenn, a great walk.
A place that looks amazing but way too busy for me lol, a great place to capture the Jets mind you 📷🥰👍🏻
I did this walk nearly 2 years ago now. It's a surprising Wainwright. Quite steep for the majority. I distinctly remember the moss covered uprooted trees as I took a photo and tagged it as one of Bilbo Baggins Trolls :)
I agree that Benn is the better summit just for the fact you get Raven Crag in the shot. Can Imagine people won't frequent this summit as much as well .
Beautiful Glenn. Deffo the Benn, people have spoilt Raven Cragg. I think the crowds were all on the passes while I was riding the Fred Whitton...absoult madness. Burning clutches etc. Looking forward to your next video.
I’m on my way. Wifey and me are now in our 70’s but this looks great. Hats off to all the volunteers that built the steps and walkways. Thanks for this video. Have been on top of all the big peaks in school days Youth hosteling . Most days never saw a thing except rain and cloud. Love your films.
Thanks so much 😊 🙏
Thank You so much, BC and Finn, for another breathtaking (see what I did there) adventure! What spectacular views! Although I was uncomfortable when you were pointing out the sheer drop of Raven Crag. I kept praying for you to back up. 😊💚
The moment you say it's so dry and Finn tries to fix it by immediately taking a wee 🤣
Bloody marvellous!
Came across your channel by chance. Now I'm hooked along with a couple of family members, keep up the great channel.👍🤛
I love your videos!❤️🥰
Glenn, I would happily put a quid into a charity box every time I visited to support an organisation to be stationed at these popular spots to douse the fires. If I knew they were drenching the dipsh!ts too, I'd make it a fiver.
Atb, Paul
Thanks Glenn, very nice video. For anyone needing a more gentle ascent, the forest track you use for the second leg of the climb is a great route all the way from the valley. We used to use it with our daughter in her three-wheeled, super-rugged special needs buggy. We always seemed to have the same weather as you on this walk. The dappled light through the trees and the trundling of the buggy tyres on the track was very soothing for our daughter. I can't say the last bit of the climb was so soothing for me though 😰. We only took the buggy up & down those steps on one of our visits, that was enough! 😁
Yes!! Your hike DID give Canada vibes!! You’ll have to come and visit!! You’ll love it!! 🇨🇦
Visiting Canada would be the dream! 🙏 Thank you 😊
Great video capturing some stunning views - thank you. When I last did Raven Crag it was part of a round including High Tove and Armboth, it was such a relief to get out of the boggy ground!
Love seeing your hikes and such stunning views, the lovely pup is an added bonus :)
I'm from Georgia USA and I'm so happy you have Finn with you.
another great vid. it's a shame about the cragg. I had to use all my water last year to put a fire out at 2pm, that was still smoldering from the night before. things are not much better to the south at Harrop tarn.
the benn is certainly a favourite. 🤟 nice to see finn
Ok....love your videos! Im a photographer myself so its been nice to see all of those beautiful places i live so far from...North Idaho. United States...
Cracking location and top video as always. Sunday was a boiler, was coming off High Street via Kidsty and was sweating the crown jewels. Haweswater was mental busy
Thanks very much 😊 surprised Haweswater was so busy 🤔
Cool video, nicely presented and enjoyed the preview of your walk at the start of the video.
hey first of all congrats about you history in youtube because you footage its amazing! i wonder if you can do a video talking about the gear you use , perhaps some brands to choose maybe the best one in you opinon and one most affordable! maybe it would help the newsbies as myself to get a direction! thank you very much
Hi Mark just follow the route around RAVEN CRAG. It was spot on I really enjoyed it
We were on Bleaberry (doing your walk - which was great - thanks!) on the Sunday (same day): we should have waved!
Ah lovely... Hope you had fun 😊
I think you picked up on everything I did about that walk / scramble.. Magical forest glades and the light is fantastic (and the views).. I had my lunch on the edge of Raven crag, Shot a multitude of good pics.. Packed my camera and lenses away... ..And within two minutes Two F16's flew past about 200 feet below me.. Oh well! Next time!
Great stuff! The Lake District is absolutely stunning!!
Watching from New Zealand. Great videos / photography
Stunning views as always! Love the sights from Raven’s Crag but I’m more at home w the Benn and it’s less groomed trail and scruffy summit. As always, thanks for taking us along! Good to see ya Finn ❤!
I’ve brought myself to pain for photos many times, and most of your hikes seem chill, but those stairs made my knees cry. Still worth the effort (and pain) to see the view. That magical wood was probably my favorite bit.
I’d agree, the environment looked more like the Rockies, bear country, etc. Canada, Northern US.
Fires are worth a rant, especially when land as sacred as this is affected by sheer stupidity.
I would gladely walk those paths 👌🏻🙋🏼♀️
Just found this channel and loving your vids! Going through a bit of a tough time right now and your content brings a smile, a chuckle and a reminder of how much beauty can be found in the world, thank you! Lovely doggo companion is the cherry on top! Looking forward to more videos in the future!
Can’t understand why I haven’t been up this path. Been all around Thirlmere dozens of times over the years. This is definitely on my list for the next time I’m there. Amazing view.
Excellent video yet again, great to see someone love the lakes as much as I do, looking forward to the next episode 👍🏼🏔
Coming into this video quite late mate but thirlmere/raven crag is the reason i fell in love with the lakes. spent my first ever wild camp at the shores of thirlmere (i know its frowned upon but i was young and eager) and i spent the night upon the top of raven crag with a few of my mates watching the sunset drop across the sky before heading back down to camp, it was there & then that i knew that i had fallen in love with the lake district and wild camping high above any civilisation. Been there many times since and just like you i have been lucky enough every time to avoid the crowds. In all my time up there i think i have stumbled across 3/4 other people.. unfortunately never camped at raven crag as it isnt high enough for my liking nowadays & i prefer to be left alone than spending the night with like you said DIPSHITS.
Great little dog very cute, just found you're channel after being recommended to me by TH-cam from a Haze Outdoors video. I've been binge-watching your videos while I work! Defiantly going to get one of your prints soon. Very similar to my own style and my favorite photographer, Ragnar Axelsson.
Trekking vicariously is so exhilarating - your dog is soooooo sweet ❤️🌟👍🏻
Great video Glenn, thank you for putting together and sharing 🙏 Definitely Big Ben for the best view. Sometimes the less known tops offer the best views, and haven't been trashed by the insta brigade. ATB.
Raven crag is a beautiful view but such a shame to see it ruined, I actively try to avoid places like this. Love your videos and great to see Finn happily strutting along beside you!
Thanks for the vid. I went there in 1979 with school and climbing instructors from Langdale before the hotel was built. They had us abseiling from Ravens crag. Twas great. Fav moment of your vid is at 22.10.❤
Finn is such a sweet girl and you’re not so bad yourself Glenn. Awesome scenery and beautiful trees. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your pint.
Utube just suggested your channel to me , being a lake district lover myself - the way you present it is just so passionate.
I'm based in North Essex , so a long way away.
I'll subscribe and start to enjoy your lovely videos.... thank you 😊
You also have a very calming nature , in a stressful world - thank you.
What a lovely looking walk, perfect for a late afternoon, although I wouldn’t want to head up to Raven Crag on a windy day with that drop! You’re dead right to rant. Pillocks like those lighting fires are the same ones leaving rubbish all over the place, and as you say one day something will go very badly wrong and a large uncontrollable fire will break out. So rant away!
Such breathe taking views and what a perfect day as well. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you 😊
Love it !! Thank you for sharing and for me I love more the view from Benn 💚
I love seeing where you stop off at the end for food/drink!
Great little hill with wonderful views. Tree felling was underway when we walked this a few years back so our route took a number of detours long the way. One to be repeated sometime.
Thanks for another brilliantly presented and informative video. 👍
I knew there was a walk there as we have driven past and wondered what it was like. Splendid views on a great little walk.Enjoy your beer.
Did you not see the signs all around this area now.....They have really clamped down on camping in this area and a ranger is apparently patrolling it. So I doubt there will be anyone camping up The Ben or anywhere in this area.
Yet another cracking video...thanks! It's a difficult one re the better views, but if pushed I'd have to say from The Benn as (as you say) it has Raven Crag included in the view. I've not been, but it really does look like a smaller, but no less impressive, Half Dome!
great video as always. the question you posed, my view The Ben due to the overall vista, but Raven Crag not too shabby.
Another great video Glenn. In forty odd years of walking the Lakeland fells, I've always missed out Raven Crag thinking it was too short to bother with when other challenges are all around. Your roundabout route has changed my opinion about that. Another to add to the must do list. Thanks for that.
Amazing video as always! Love how relaxing it is to watch these beautiful sceneries through your lens.😊👍
Thanks Sthitadhi 😊
Loved this, your videos are so relaxing! We were up hiking Keswick High Rigg on the same day and got lightly fried - wasn't expecting Summer to have arrived in the Lakes so soon! 😍
Thanks very much 😊 it was a lovely day!
Another great vid glen love watching them definably better views from the benn and great to see Finn she's lovely what a companion keep up the good work
Thanks very much 😊
Hey man it was really cool to see you and finn at crummock the other day, I was a bit lost for words at the time but would've liked to say thank you for all the effort and time you put into your videos they have provided years of enjoyment for me and the mrs and are very helpful guides for our walks! Wish you all the best and hope you have great success so you can keep at it dude! Thanks again
Arny (fat guy with the beard)
Thank you....lovely to meet you too! Hope you had a nice camp 😊
Morning Craig
Thank you for the lovely countryside walk though the village and small town it was nice walk how’s fin not seen her walking with you hope she ok have a gd day and I will look forward to the next walk with you Trace 🙂
I'll have a pie with my drone pint! Excellent stuff mate although that spider was super scary 😱
I need a Finn in my life, she is amazing.
I'm proper loving them views in that sunshine too.
Great video as per usual 👏🏼
Thank you 😊
I always look forward to your videos...it's great to be able to hike and camp vicariously
Favourite series on TH-cam I’ll have to make a donation to fix the fells soon to preserve the Lakeland and support the channel.
This looks a great little walk and really different. Totally agree on some of the comments on ignorant people. I don't like how instagrammers do everything in the lakes just for clicks.
Breathtaking and another great video, thank you so much.
I have to agree the view from The Benn is the best. Fantastic episode by the way 👏
I’m just getting into hiking me and my wife and these are the kind of walks I would love to do so thank you for sharing it with us
Definitely the Benn, can't believe what some people do to our countryside 😢
Awesome stuff. I was up Helvellyn that day and you’re right it was warm! Love your videos btw. I’ve been in the Lakes for a week and I’ve walked up Old Man (with the Pikes, Dow Crag and Brim Fell), Helvellyn, Haystacks and did Blencathra this morning. Big inspiration from your vids.
The weather has been really good throughout and the views have been ridiculous with Haystacks and Buttermere being the highlight.
Anyway, again, love the vids. Cheers.
Thank you, glad you like them 😊
Love that view from Raven but the rant was hilarious….. but totally justified too ! 😂
Lovely area. Honestly, looks like many places I hike here in New Mexico or Colorado.
Great Glenn
Loved that pic of Finn sat by the side of you looking down Thirlmere.
Class 👌👌👌
Ah, thank you 😊
Hi Glenn, wonderful video as always. I'm yet to do Raven Crag, but looking forward to it now I've seen your video. I bet that couple were gutted when they got to the top and found just you an Finneus were there. My Hey Herdy T shirt arrived the other day, absolutely love it. Thanks for sharing your day with us as always. Cheers Dave
Wow what an amazing view, love your vids x
I'd planned on sunday for a walk in the Lakes but it dawned dark, miserable and wet in Manchester so I blew it off. At 10.30am, the sun came out and I said 'Soddit!. At noon I was at Thirlmere Dam and setting off up Raven Crag, despite having been in such a tearing hurry I forgot my walking socks. Great days. More trees, too.
It was a grand day!
Absolutely love your channel, i live in maryport so get to travel alot in the lakes, only been here a few years but watching your channel has shown me many new places to visit. And Finn is absolutely adorable 😊
Great video as always, you did Raven Crag & the Benn justice! This is from the two people from Warwick (one in a bright green coat) who chatted to you at the damn. Keep up the good work!
Lovely place and view, I love it on Castle Fort and that loop is a beautiful walk.
People have lit fires on Bowness Knott, again a hill covered in peat and dry wood like a tinder box in dry weather. Great video. Where abouts in Scotland were you?
what a beautiful little dog ❤
Brilliant. Absolutely stunning
Happily there is a lot of the Lake District which has not yet been spoiled but that still offer spectacular vies and good walks.
Superb video as always Glenn, many thanks. As Wainwright said people who love the lakes feel they are in exile when not there and you help me feel connected from down here in Wiltshire. Cheers 🍻
well Mr Crag (and Finn!) this was glorious! 😍 God it's been many years since we were up Raven Crag, it's like it's a totally different place now (and way too touristy although the steps and walkways do look a huge benefit than the boggy ground I remember so i'll call that one benefit I guess). That road block you walked past at 1:58, does that mean you can't get through from the road that way anymore, do you have to go around the long way (been many years since i've been to Thirlmere although drive past it almost every year when we're up there on hols)? x
What a lovely walk, definitely on the list now. However The Benn would be my favorite stop, avoid crowds at all costs . Little Finn is such a good girl, she's a joy to watch. 😊
Thanks Lucy 😊
Great walk and in terms of what's the best, it's all subjective, not sure there's a bad view. Liked the colours of the forest between really.
Only recently discovered your videos, and now I have a new obsession. 😁 I really enjoy them - they’re so tranquil - and this was a super little one, with an extra bonus of Finn. She’s such a darling!
The Benn is definitely better than Raven Crag. And ‘bisected’ was right. 😉
Big Ben 👍❤️ cracking spot shame fly campers have been out trashing the place 😡🤬🤬 awesome content as always 👍❤️
Absolutely gorgeous walk, and views thanks for sharing it's similar but much bigger than the walk in the (Comeragh Mountain in Waterford) Rep of Ireland 💚
Can’t beat a walk in the fells with your four legged friend by your side 🐶🐾🐾
Great little walk that Glenn, a really nice shore walk along Thirlmere too, but had to turn back due to it being blocked off from fallen tress 2 years ado🤷♂️
Thank you 😊
Lovely surprise to get in from work to a new video. Thank you for sharing another beautiful walk with us 😬
Thanks Nicola 😊
The Benn had the best view in my opinion 😍
Good to see you back. It feels like you haven't been on for ages 😂
Big Benn, all day long for me, as you said with Raven Crag in view, just sets it off, oh, and you don't get the view of charcoal logs😢
They should have wardens go out of a night and dish out fines, saying that they would probably get stabbed up this day and age.
Lovely view, though, for not that much walking.
Just received one of your pictures of Lingmell as a gift from a mate, stunning and will shortly be getting a nice frame for it, and will take pride of place in my living room.
Good to see Finn back, how old is she ?
Not getting back to the lake's until December now and hoping you do one of your meet ups then(hint)😅
Have a good one, look forward to the next vlog.
Yep another great vid. Definitely on the tick list now
It's a beautiful mountain Raven Crag, and the only Lake Fell I know which has a viewing platform and wooding cladding for a summit path! It's also one off those rare forested mountains- and technically the Wainwrights of Whinlatter don't count because they are not covered by trees.
I'm doing High Rigg & Raven Crag on a walk this summer. Great video as usual mate
Lovely views we were at Thirlmere last week and didn't know that was there! Now we do and we're off up there first chance we get. Great channel love all your videos thank you!! Oh and we love little Finn she's a beaut 😀
Thank you.... You must go back 😊
