Wow. Just watched this again after nearly 30 years. Harry driving like a man possessed after Rusty turns that Olds into a modified. One of the most satisfying wins I can remember
The team had figured out a way to get the slightest bit of steering from the rear end. They heated & bent the housing & had to hand grind the teeth on the end of axle so the axles could pivot. Listen to The Scene Vault Podcast the Andy Peatree episode
I was at this race at Martinsville. Always was and will be a BILL ELLIOTT FAN. However nevertheless I was never upset when HARRY GANT won a race. Race on the weekend and put shingles on houses during the week! One tuff customer!!!
If NASCAR held the playoffs in 1991 (2007-13 format with 12 drivers), Harry Gant would have beaten Dale Earnhardt by 182 points, and taken home the 1991 championship. Almost entirely due to his amazing four consecutive race winning streak in September 1991.
@Mathew Weissinger . . . back in the 1990s my late Mom always looked forward to the telecasts of NASCAR races to hear what kind of whiny excuse Rusty Wallace would say with the TV soundbite offered to him.
For the record..... Ned Jarrett never won 3 in a row. He won two in a row on 8 occasions in the Grand National series with 4 of them coming in 1964. Benny Parsons never won more than 1 race at a time.
No stage racing, no Chase, the most consistent driver won the championship, cigarette sponsors, alcohol sponsors, no pc nonsense, and your stands were sold out. Do u see this NASCAR?
That damage couldn't have been better, of course the crew made sure to cut off enough sheet metal too! I would love to have seen Gants RF tire temps vs the rest of the field.
you should try adjusting the colors. feeds were intentionally darkened to show up better on tube tv's. however, of course, color is not an issue on lcd screens so the feed looks dark.
Harry Gant 4 wins in a row at age 51. You will never see that again.

“People paying $40, $50 a seat SIT DOWN people” Benny Parsons
Best driving I have ever seen from Harry Giant!!! Guy should be in the HOF just for what he did in his 50s as a driver
I was at Dover the week before when he won his 3rd straight! Great memories! You rock Smiff TV!!

These were fun times. Harry really should've got 5 in a row. He was 🤏
Legend of a race. Legend of a run for the Bandit.

2:52:27 for the buffet benny segment made for the following race possible
ABSOLUTE TOP 5 ALL TIME CLASSIC RACE. PERIOD. Benny is SOOO on point while Ned Jarrett melts
glad to see you posting again. Great stuff!
hoping to eventually see the 1991 first union 400 I think it's the only race from 1991 I've never seen
7:48 race start
Mr. September!
3:20:50 Benny and Ned just laughing on commercial, one of the great race calls of all time
Man, I wish we still had these Ole country boys in nascar like Harry Gant. Tars. . My kind of fellow. I know exactly what he's saying
"boy, there's more than one person in this grandstand that isn't a rusty wallace fan right now." People certainly loved Harry!

Can't wait for the Tyson Holly Farms 400 race :D
CDubs I remember that feeling aaall weeek looong back in 91’. EVERYONE was a Gant fan. With good reason.
27:14 "Pablo Picasso Parsons." LMAO RIP Bob Jenkins

America before the castration
Brett had the worst luck of any driver.
Wow....just wow. 😲
After watching all these old Nascar races I have an official opinion of Rusty Wallace and it's involving a small female dog
The dude drove hard and didnt care. He just wanted to win
I always cheered for the green car in the Speedworld promo...never won.
2:52:27 That didn't age well
23:45. Look how small that pit road is!!!
Hamdsome Harry!!
GANT would have won North Wilkesboro for 5 in a row but his engine let go while he was leading late in the race!!!
He lost an o-ring in the master cylinder and lost his brakes, he didn't lose an engine.
When Harry got that damage on the right front. The open air it kept that Right front tire cooled off. He was on a rail around that track.
That damage couldn't have been better, of course the crew made sure to cut off enough sheet metal too! I would love to have seen Gants RF tire temps vs the rest of the field.
The next week, Harry dominated again but was passed by Dale with 12 to go. Would have been 5 in a row
That car definitely was "creative." Lmao

It rules, actually
Well, I guess them men can drive.😅
