@HannaBoyOD Wilt would literally dunk from the Free Throw line every time he had to shoot a free throw. Insane. For his career, he shot 50% from the line - if they let him, he would've dunked every time for his free throws.
haha you should've had him talk about kobe and MJ. Interesting thing is that kobe when he was 18 asked the lakers to bring tex to the team (not phil). He always attributed his knowledge to Tex just as much as Phil. Kobe and Tex actually had an awesome relationship.
@MIKESOWELL Thanks! Stay tuned for a RetroBreakdown coming up, and we're filming Reggie Jackson, the Thunder's 1st round pick this year, tomorrow! Coach NIck
Coach, I understand where you're coming from but during the 70s, Kareem was bar none the best center/player in the L. Matter fact, KAJ won the MVP while avg. 26ppg/13rpg/4apg/3.2bpg on 58% shooting compared to Walton's 19ppg/15rpg/4apg/3.4bpg on 53% shooting. So no, Walton did not have the best season for a center. KAJ had about a couple of seasons of 35/17, 32/16, 30/16/5 and 30/14/4/3 that would blow anything Walton put up out of the water. I've haven't even gotten to guys like Dream and Wilt
wilt chamberlian would take three huge steps "there was no 3 point line but he would be far from the 3 point line and after three huge steps he would throw the ball of the back board and dunk and he never missed a free thow, thats why they banned it thanks to tex writer telling the gms what wilt chamberlain could do and also they banned ally oops from out of bounds because a player out of bounds would throw the ball over the basket and will chamberlain would dunk it in"www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=253531
@ea5t5ide21 Stats, especially from that era, don't paint an accurate enough picture. I'll have to do a breakdown showing Kareem from that era, as well as Wilt and Russell, and you'll see why Walton was better than any of them in his prime...
one of the GOAT coaches. great interview
Tex Winter: *"There is no 'i' in team"*
Michael Jordan: *"But there is an 'i' in win"*
Tex Winter, Phil J, and Tim Cone of the Philippines are the best triangle coaches in history

@bballbreakdown I wasn't talking about the interview, lol. I loved it. I was talking about the person who commented about being first.

Coach NIck
@fsc125 He had a stroke, has trouble speaking now. This was done in 2004 or 2005 in the summer. Thanks!
Hakeem Ojajuwon should be in the discussion as best Center of all time
great interview!!!
@kileer7 My pleasure. Lots more coming up, so stay tuned.
@believeinbigsmooth11 Thanks, I agree. Will do plenty more with other coaches soon!
Great interview.
@Kinksayshi There's always someone who doesn't like the history of basketball. Stay tuned - lots more RetroBreakdowns and Mini Docs coming up!
Great interview! Keep them coming!
@Xephon212 Thanks - I'll do a triangle offense breakdown soon...
Great interview. Where is the rest?
@jeremykoa05 Good question - I just captured the 1969 NBA All Star Game, and the 2006 NBA Finals Game 6....
this was when he was a freshmen in college
@92890javier Stay tuned! We're doing a mini doc on Reggie Jackson - 1st round pick of the Thunder this year. Danny Granger is up next!
He's almost 90! Wow, looks about 65!
r.i.p
@Jerry3Acosta Ridiculously overdue!!
@Civsuccess2 LOL - I guess he did, but then again, Wilt did quite a bit of screwing.
@kileer7 I know, right?!!?
@bozotheclown9 Get ready for the T-shirt - coming soon!
Awesome interview! What's the next RetroBreakdown going to be?!
I thought tex winter was sick. Has he gotten better or was this interview done while ago? Anyways, great interview coach.
@bballbreakdown thanks man!!!
For Clay Young
what was he talking about with the freethrow line with wilt chamberlain.. i didnt understand that part
Props to Tex Winter - HOF
Should've slipped in a Mike vs Kobe Q.

In fact, Wilt Chamberlain would have never tried to dunked that free-throw in a game!
According to Wilt Chamberlain himself!
Did he mention Sam Barry?
tex is 150years old

Walton was amazing in his prime but his prime as a professional wasn’t even 100 games. He deserved that MVP, IMO, but come on.
He's the Steve Wozniak to Phil Jackson's Steve Jobs
I thought Guy Kawasaki 😅✌🏻
Huntington Park HS Graduate.
UCLA High Post 6:50
Wilt got screwed big time by Tex.
