    If you are fixing axles like this you are doing it the hard way. :) I'm posting a video on my channel today "Do you know what this is for?" or something like that. You'll see and wonder why you were wedging screwdrivers in all this time. I've done it that way before.. using the proper tool is way easier.

      @@TheRCGenius btw, in your experience what is a good shock set for the Traxxas Classic 2.5? I do alot of off road jumps and I have a feeling the stock ones wont last. That's how I broke the drive shaft and shock tower to pieces.

    • @TheRCGenius
      @TheRCGenius  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@arod7130 I would suggest looking online or in a hobby shop for shocks that fit your truck. Personally, I think that whatever you decide on, you should try to get some that have threaded collars. This allows for easy softening or stiffening of the shocks. Aluminum is nice too, adds durability and good looks! Integy, Pro-Line, or Helion are a variety of brands I currently use on my rigs. Check out some of my recent videos, (mostly the cinematic edits) and you can see how those shocks perform in slo-mo. Hope this helps!

    Thanks for the guide, however if you buy drive shafts that are completely broken down, when you’re connecting the u joint to the large half of the drive shaft, slide one end in, then push the other end against a table or wall using your weight and it slides in pretty easily.

    I've done this and for some reason the joint keeps popping right back out what can I do to fix this

    • @TheRCGenius
      @TheRCGenius  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      RC MANIAC if it keeps popping out, you’ve likely worn the mounting holes on the half shaft to the point that the joint can easily work its way back out. I would recommend replacing the half shaft or output yoke, and then connect the u-joint back in.

      @@TheRCGenius well I tried new ones to maybe my driving style requires steel shafts ig it's time for an upgrade good video though I subbed

    • @TheRCGenius
      @TheRCGenius  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      RC MANIAC ok, well upgrades are a good idea. As far as driving style, try to focus on when you land from doing jumps. If the wheels aren’t spinning fast/slow enough (depending on speed of the truck), when it lands it sends the axles into shock from the speed change when it hits the ground. I would recommend slowly tapping the throttle when in the air to keep the wheels turning at a decent speed. Thanks for the sub 😉

    • @TheRCGenius

      Suur Paks Kass simply reverse the process. Use a flat screwdriver to open the ends, and wiggle the u-joint out.

    • @TheRCGenius
      @TheRCGenius  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well the U-joint itself is metal. If you're breaking driveshafts, I believe there are some aluminum upgrades. I would try looking at Integy, They make a good selection of aluminum RC Parts.

    • @TheRCGenius
      @TheRCGenius  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the plastic tabs on the driveshaft is broken, then you will need to purchase a new plastic axle. They are cheap, and will get back up and running 👍

    Mine keep popping out while driving. Cannot figure out what’s going on. I’ve replaced multiple times. It’s actually a lot easier than you explain here too.

    • @TheRCGenius
      @TheRCGenius  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are several factors that could lead to that. If you aren’t keeping your wheel speed consistent when doing jumps, you can send the driveshafts into shock. Basically, if the speed of the driveshafts spinning changes drastically, it can disconnect from the U-joint. If you are running brushless or high speeds, you may want to consider aluminum upgrades.

    • @ed0c
      @ed0c 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheRCGenius I haven’t even gotten a full battery through it yet and I’ve gone through 4 u joints. Haven’t gone over a single jump. Just been doing parking lots, dirt, little bit of mud testing it out. Had it for 2 weeks today.
      I have been playing around with suspension and wheel angle I was running a slight camber and had suspension as stiff as I could. I have leveled all that back down to normal took in the camber a bit. About to test it again.
      (Ps. It is only the rear u joints for me and that is where I had the stiff’est suspension setup)

    • @TheRCGenius
      @TheRCGenius  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would suggest looking at upgrades. If you’re running LiPo and brushless systems, that can be enough power and torque to cause your issues. Look at aluminum upgrades from Integy, or any other seller that makes parts for your rig.

    Can the u joint make the car squeaky

    • @TheRCGenius
      @TheRCGenius  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rc Goodness it shouldn’t, no. If there’s squeaking, it’s most likely coming the motor, wheel bearings, or maybe the gears in the transmission. I would recommend inspecting those areas, and seeing if any of them look warn, or need replacing, if you think it’s the cause of the issue. Before replacing though, try adding some grease or lubricant to aid the squeak. Hope this helps!

    How do you do this when the u joint not attached to the first piece?

    • @TheRCGenius
      @TheRCGenius  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      sora bishop in that case you just have to force it in place. It won’t break, but unfortunately that’s the only way to do it.
