Dimash is just great, isn't he? He manages to lift people to heaven with just one vowel. He leaves me speechless every time I hear this song. And I love it when the drums come in. It's so unique. Igor Krutoy (the gentleman at the piano) composed this version of the Ave Maria at Dimash's request. Did you know that there are more than 100 versions of the Ave Maria? Now there is one more.
Usually, Ave Maria is a prayer to the Holy Virgin Mary. In this case, however, it is a prayer for all people, no matter what religion they belong to.
Besides that Dimash is a Muslim and Igor Kurtoy, who often accompanies him on the piano, is Jewish. That is why this Ave Maria has no lyrics, since it is not only sung for Christians.
He sang this song on the New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international contest for young performers founded by Igor Krutoy in 2002. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury.
Igor Krutoy is a famous Russian-Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range (no kidding), like Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You'll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It's more of a father-son relationship.
By the way the last note is called messa di voce, according to Wikepedia, a “dynamic singing ornament” on a particularly long sustained note.
It consists of a rise and fall (crescendo, decrescendo) of the vocal volume during the sustained tone, without changing the pitch and other aspects such as intonation and vibrato. In the past, this singing technique in bel canto was often considered the ultimate test of a singer's singing ability.
Please react to Olimpico or also Ogni Pietra from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating.
This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. I swear it is mind-blowing 🤯

I always get soul-deep chills from Dimash, but this song takes my breath away and brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. ❤ It's amazing what a Muslim artist and Jewish composer created from a Christian hymn - something universally sacred.
While this is called "Ave Maria", it bears little resemblance (that I can determine) to the "Ave Maria" I think of as a hymn. This isn't the same "Ave Maria" written by Bach and Gounod, which I think is the "hymn" that you are referring to here. This is great, and Dimash certainly has a fabulous voice, but I'm kind of glad this isn't the "Ave Maria" I'm thinking of. I’ve seen Dimash sing this at his concerts. One minute is is singing a pop type song or a Kazakh folk song, then suddenly everything is silent and Dimash’s voice floats over a mesmerised audience. We are held in his hand, in a trance, until the last note. Then the applause erupts.

I stumbled on Dimash about a year ago, he has changed my life, I am fully one of his Dears now, hope to see him live someday, there isn't anything he has sung that I haven't listened to dozens of times. When I need to get back to goodness in life when so much awfulness is going on in the world, Dimash gives it to me. He is a miracle in our midst. Thank you for doing another reaction, keep going. Maestro Igor Krutoy shared the story of the creation of the work 'Ave Maria' for Dimash.
When writing a hit, Krutoy is guided by the Italian principle: every composer is worth exactly what his latest work is worth, which means that all previous successes and achievements do not count.
“On one of the nights, about three months before New Wave, Dimash called and asked if I could write 'Ave Maria' for him and he explained that he wanted to sing something in that style... Coincidentally, I had a spare evening, and I happily sat down at the piano and, inspired by the memory of the Italian formula of responsibility, worked until I achieved the desired result. It took me a few days to 'let' the composition 'lay' in my ears, soul and heart, and sent it to Dimash, who replied literally within half an hour that: ‘This is exactly what I wanted to hear', said Krutoy. To fully understand everything that Dimash is capable of you need to listen to a good mix of his music otherwise like a lot of reactors you will come to think he's a "one trick pony".
Unlike every other artist on the planet Dimash flies through all genres effortlessly. Sometimes using those insane high notes and sometimes not.
I would suggest songs like Durdaraz, Samaltau, Qairan Elim to get a taste of his Kazakh material then maybe Screaming, Fly Away, Weekend, When I've Got You and then you really have to watch the glorious music video, The Story of One Sky, which Dimash not only composed but also wrote the screenplay and acted the main character.

I didn't know what to expect from this one. When you said in the discord that this wasn't THAT Ave Maria I was, understandably, confused. However, as always, I chose not to pre-listen to it (and will go watch the video now after your reaction)... this was PHENOMENAL. There is something so pure and true about Dimash's voice and I utterly adore the emotion he puts into his voice, even when there are no actual words.

If I'm not mistaken, this “Ave Maria” by composer and conductor Igor Krutoy is a work in vocalize format, completely unpublished, although it seems to be a variation of the initial theme (not the introduction but the singing part) of the melody by Schubert adapted to Dimash's voice in order to explore just as three initial notes and changing the fourth note to a higher note (From B4, A4 D#4 C#4 and B4 to G#4, G4, G4, D#5): Like a leap from "dark to light" which is the same contrast as Dimash's outfit (from dark to light)! It also seems to refer to the Russian V. Vavilov's version of "Ave Maria" (wrongly credited to Caccine) and work by JS Bach - Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV 846, with arrangements by Gounod, which Maetro Igor Krutoy has a predilection for!

Yes, this song is amazing! There is a very short video that shows Dimash learning how to do that last note. Unfortunately I don't know what it's called. It was in China, so maybe if you google "Dimash with singing teacher in China" you might find it. Another song that has vocalizing in it is "Znai" (or "Know"). There is a version that has words and vocalizing and one that is just vocalizing. I would suggest that you watch the one with words first and then the other. Enjoy! 🇨🇦
