Literally all they had to do was take Sims 2 and improve on it lmao Better graphics, being able to utilize half tiles instead of sims and furniture needing a whole tile to move around, some new stuff to do like they already added in Sims 3, would have been perfect. Same with Sims 4. They could have liiiiiiterally taken the bits of Sims 2 that worked amazing and the bits of Sims 3 that were good and it would have been the perfect game. But no. The downfall of Sims is that EA started off making it so demanding on a system, but didn't keep up with it as the graphics improved because it would just require so much power. They created a standard they couldn't keep up with.
Clare you can change the swatches of the objects with the design tool! You can use move objects just like in the other games and there's also a cheat for moving objects without the gridlines. I really love this video, please post more Sims 2 videos! ❤️

Sims 2 had been my first Sims game that I ever owned. All the nostalgia watching you go back into it... I forgot how good and free it felt to play in it.
The sims 2 community is so wonderful we have a bunch of great cc and mod creators still so committed to the game ! Just like sims 4 it will probably take you a long time to get happy with ur mods and cc but it so worth the time and effort 😁😁😁
@@trishgucci9774 I got my game years ago when origin was giving it away as a free download, but they have even stopped distributing the game that way since, I believe their are a handful of videos and tutorials on how to get the game as legit as possible, but people are able to share copied downloads of the game wherever as it’s been unclaimed by EA I hope that helped somehow ! Just give TH-cam a search !

Claire playing and loving sims 2 is an absolute dream for me. I cannot wait for her to discover cc, mods, and cheats to improve every aspect of the game. I'm the same age as Claire and have religiously played almost every day since its release and I have never gotten bored and still learn new things today. I've tried and failed with both sims 3 and 4 despite really wanting to like them. Its all about sims 2!!

You can change the colour of objects if you hover over the icon, and there are cheats for move objects, quarter tile placement, and snapping off :)

With the sims 2 you should be able to change the colors on stuff, and I remember with beds you could change the sheets and the frame, which I remember loving!

I looove the Sims 2! I still play it a LOT- granted, I do have a fair amount of mods, CC, and default replacements, but it really is the best. Also you hold control-shift-C to open the cheats window. There you can do quartertileplacement on, moveobjects on, and boolprop allow45degreeangleofrotation true. The quarter tile also can be toggled on and off by pressing control F. boolprop testingcheatsenabled true opens a lot of cheats, and if you want to save/pin a want or fear, you right-click it Good luck, happy simming!
@@caitlinmoles3070 Tech-wise, 4gigabyte patch and graphic rules maker pretty much solved my issues, plus Clean UI. There's also some technical mods to help with bugs and quality of life things. I was also lucky enough to have been online when Origin was giving away the Ultimate Collection for free. It's really annoying that they did that, but didn't keep it on to sell! People want to play it -_- But if you mean how do I not get bored- I play pretty casually. I also have default replacements so the clothes, eyes, and hair are more to my liking, and lots of CC too lol Also also the Sims 2 modding community is an absolute GODSEND. PleasantSims has a guide on her website, plus a list of mods and stuff like that. That's where I picked up a lot of mine I also play with LazyDutchess's Story Progression mod cuz I like to focus on one family at a time and let the neighborhood explode lol Hope I answered your question! Sims 2 was the first version I played, on my temperamental old laptop that i used to take with me to my mums work in the summer holidays. I still have the discs 🤣. skipped sims 3 and went straight to sims 4.
Honestly Claire, if you look for some good cc for Sims 2 (there's a lot, just a little difficult to find), it can literally be almost as pretty as Sims 4 and considering the base of the game is already more complete than S4, it becomes perfect
Sims 2 is an awesome game honestly and I love the features but there's a catch that makes me go to the later games is that it's hard to make relationships for a person who is more used to Sims 4. Great video Clare!

Man this brings back so many memories... all the Nostalgia for one. I don't remember the cutscene for the Woohoo but man everything else just bringing me back. I really wished so much of the Sims 2 could have been brought over to later games. The ability to add things in like the clouds, rainbows, etc. was amazing (and another thing I forgot about) and being able to add more features to your chosen area. Adding lots, houses anything... I MISS that so much. Please, give us this back! And yes, a Sims 2 Let's Play would be amazing! Please do more!
I was only 9 years old when I started playing the sims 2. We had one family computer and I would play for hours and hours after school and on the weekend. I have a vivid memory of my dad walking in when a woohoo cut scene was playing and loosing his mind, he stomped into the kitchen yelling that the game was inappropriate and how I shouldn't be playing it, I cried for hours. My older brother, the absolute hero, told my dad that he could "edit the game" to take out the woohoo so I could keep playing. In reality all he did was tell me how to skip the cut scene. So every time my sims did any woohoo I would cut the speaker volume and be so nervous, looking around the office to make sure no one was coming in 😂

It’s wild that the fashion was of it’s time and now y2k fashion is having a revival so some of those clothes are actually trendy. I played this game so much it’s unreal. Probably the most hours I put into any Sims game (helped that I was young enough to not have many responsibilities and would also stay up sneakily late at night to play). Also remember switching between this and VMK (virtual magic kingdom by Disney)

This is the only sims game I’ve played besides the sims 4, and all I remember is the music, the sims, that mirrored cas mode, and the money tree (because I had it in my hallway, and random people would just walk into my house and take money off of it 😅) And I honestly think that the sims look so nice! Personally, the Sims 2 and 4 have the best looking sims, while the sims 1 have a certain charm about them, like look up a picture of Bella, she looks so sassy and fabulous! Man, I love this game 😌 Even though I barely remember it 😅
AHHH this brings back so many memories of school! We played sims 2 for a computer class and we made a very elaborate backstory of the typical slob lazy husband and the neat ambitious wife who low key found her husband gross. After everyone else got bored I asked if I could play for a little longer and my addiction started.

I have a whole website I used to fix the ui, for new skin tones, for hairs etc , and a whole download folder I can send you as well and you can go through it and pick and choose what you’d like. I was in 2nd grade when this game released and played it when I was 7. Lol. I’m now 26, going to be 27 in November and still play the game heavily I miss it so much it’s such an amazing game . Welcome back to the sims 2. You can totally place things off tile and centre them, we use cheats for that and you can have a cheat file with some things always set to on and short cut for others. We also have thousands of mods and CC, for CAS you can get a widescreen mod or there is also complete UI overhaul mods. Without a cheat file or fiddling in the install, the centering cheat is "setquartertileplacement on" and you then use CTRL F to turn it on and off. Most items have colour swatches, you can change them before placing or use the swatch tool. You have got to feed her more now, pregnant sims can die really easily.
After 10-11 years not-playing I just reinstalled it (I have the original CD and some of the expansions) in this January and I reacted the same way on the intro, the music, and the GRAPHICS are so good, never had that high quality! I feel more confident now to add mods and change the game as I like (and now I speak enough English to find on the internet what I need). I installed it in French for language learning purposes, and I am playing way too much now.... :D (extra info: it is totally compatible with Windows 11)

I never played the Sims 2 as a 2002 baby, but this is so cool to see! The Sims 3 holds a lot of nostalgia for me like the Sims 2 for you since it was my first sims game and one of the first PC games I ever got. I played actively from 2013-2016 until Sims 4 came out and I still sometimes open it for the nostalgia. I wish they would do a remaster or something of Sims 2 so it could be sold and run on newer machine without getting it in a shady way, but I don't think it is on EA's mind at all.
I went through a Sims 2 mad time during covid. I'm 30 and relived my favourite pack of all time, University. The nostalgia is just pure when I listen to the soundtrack. Hours and hours of game time during my teen year pretending I was Avril Lavigne. X)

Omg YES CLARE! Please make this into a series! I love Sims 2 so so much. I think I’m part of the small group that never played Sims 3. I played Sims 2 up until 2020 when I finally got a system that could run Sims 4 but I seriously miss Sims 2 so much. It was peak 😩🙌🏽

It’s wild that the fashion was of it’s time and now y2k fashion is having a revival so some of those clothes are actually trendy. I played this game so much it’s unreal. Probably the most hours I put into any Sims game (helped that I was young enough to not have many responsibilities and would also stay up sneakily late at night to play). Also remember switching between this and VMK (virtual magic kingdom by Disney)

I love how much nostalgia you have for sims 2 because I felt the same way after revisiting it on stream recently lol. I've been playing since sims 1, which I still haven't figured out how to get to work on my pc but once I do, I'm going to be living my simmer dreams lol. This is the only sims game I’ve played besides the sims 4, and all I remember is the music, the sims, that mirrored cas mode, and the money tree (because I had it in my hallway, and random people would just walk into my house and take money off of it 😅)
And I honestly think that the sims look so nice! Personally, the Sims 2 and 4 have the best looking sims, while the sims 1 have a certain charm about them, like look up a picture of Bella, she looks so sassy and fabulous!

AHHH this brings back so many memories of school! We played sims 2 for a computer class and we made a very elaborate backstory of the typical slob lazy husband and the neat ambitious wife who low key found her husband gross. After everyone else got bored I asked if I could play for a little longer and my addiction started.

I have a whole website I used to fix the ui, for new skin tones, for hairs etc , and a whole download folder I can send you as well and you can go through it and pick and choose what you’d like. I even have more realistic terrains and all that fun stuff.

I’m now 26, going to be 27 in November and still play the game heavily I miss it so much it’s such an amazing game . Welcome back to the sims 2. You can totally place things off tile and centre them, we use cheats for that and you can have a cheat file with some things always set to on and short cut for others. We also have thousands of mods and CC, for CAS you can get a widescreen mod or there is also complete UI overhaul mods.
Without a cheat file or fiddling in the install, the centering cheat is "setquartertileplacement on" and you then use CTRL F to turn it on and off.
Most items have colour swatches, you can change them before placing or use the swatch tool.
You have got to feed her more now, pregnant sims can die really easily.

After 10-11 years not-playing I just reinstalled it (I have the original CD and some of the expansions) in this January and I reacted the same way on the intro, the music, and the GRAPHICS are so good, never had that high quality! I feel more confident now to add mods and change the game as I like (and now I speak enough English to find on the internet what I need). I installed it in French for language learning purposes, and I am playing way too much now.... :D (extra info: it is totally compatible with Windows 11)

I never played the Sims 2 as a 2002 baby, but this is so cool to see! The Sims 3 holds a lot of nostalgia for me like the Sims 2 for you since it was my first sims game and one of the first PC games I ever got. I played actively from 2013-2016 until Sims 4 came out and I still sometimes open it for the nostalgia. I wish they would do a remaster or something of Sims 2 so it could be sold and run on newer machine without getting it in a shady way, but I don't think it is on EA's mind at all.
I went through a Sims 2 mad time during covid. I'm 30 and relived my favourite pack of all time, University. The nostalgia is just pure when I listen to the soundtrack. Hours and hours of game time during my teen year pretending I was Avril Lavigne. X)
The Sims 2 truly is God tier. A+ game.

I remember Sims2 and that it was great because I use to play it at a friends house with them and like watch her play and make all the decisions and I really wanted it but my parents never bought it for me because they don't really get gaming. I has Sims4 now and I really like it but I do agree there are some aspects that were in Sims2 we are definitely missing out on these days. Please do a whole let's play in Sims2!! this looked so fun and awesome. The animations were the best!!

I feel like sims 4 is a random sims fever dream 😂 it feels so watered down! Sims 2 was seriously my childhood. I remember being thoroughly entertained as a kid for hours!
