As an ACTUAL dying billionaire with no heirs who's just looking for a kind internet stranger to inherit my fortune and do charity work after I'm gone, these scammers have really made my last few days on earth difficult.
They probably don't see themselves as dishonest. Maybe they have done this so much that they see this as their way of living. People can be desensibilized from right and wrong.

Actually a pretty common thing to do in amateur filming, have someone make a sound in time with when the sound effects are going to be added, it gives a good cue for both the editor and any actors who need to react to the sound.

They may be stupid when it comes to scamming people, but they are usually just smart enough not to use their real names and identifying services. That bank account could have been compromised and belonged to another victim. Same with email addresses and Facebook pages or other social media. Very common to see in the IT industry.
I kinda wish he would’ve responded to the email with a link to the scammer’s Facebook profile, followed by his street address (the stuff he already found out!), and a single sentence; “you think you’re untouchable, but you’re not.” That would’ve been so incredibly awesome.
Not sure about the UK but in Australia we have a cybersecurity centre to report any nefarious cyber activities. They would have loved getting this kind of information from a scam baiter. 😁

Just a suggestion that’s popped in my head: at some point in one of these, perhaps you should go down a road re: how much time this wonderful person is spending doing their job, trying to “help” you with this transaction, as it relates to their rate or pay and how much their organization is thusly spending doing this. As opposed to, say, just spending the funds to make it happen.

I had a few of those shortly after my dear husband died, saying they heard about my spiritual mission, I am a pastor and wanted to have me look after their millions because they were dying, no family to leave it to. I pray regularly 🙏 and my leading was to NOT believe it. Shortly after that another one. I'm glad I didn't send 💰 to anyone but widows are frequently targeted for scams. The problem is that law enforcement could easily do this, except it would probably count as baiting (or whatever the legal term is). I wonder if any of those people you tracked down are really involved, or are just stupid middle hands who took money laundering as a hobby. I suppose the only way to get to this is to report the bank accounts to the banks, because banks investigating these frauds does not count as vigilante for some reason.
You can also troll them with return transactions, when the money leaves your account then some days after returns because of some recipient fail, typo, etc.

@@danejurus69 It will eventually come to this if law enforcement refuses to do anything about the problems. There are ways to do this: Fine banks that allow this to happen. Revert all the transactions. Countries not participating are isolated from international bank transfers, as are counties who do not participate in hunting down the criminals.

This is not Sony versus Pirate Bay, where Sony and their representatives are allowed to doctor "evidence" to their hearts content and claim losses in excess of the world GNP. This is an actual, "small scale" crime hurting vulnerable people, and the justice system is not interested.

Just a suggestion that’s popped in my head: at some point in one of these, perhaps you should go down a road re: how much time this wonderful person is spending doing their job, trying to “help” you with this transaction, as it relates to their rate or pay and how much their organization is thusly spending doing this. As opposed to, say, just spending the funds to make it happen.

I had a few of those shortly after my dear husband died, saying they heard about my spiritual mission, I am a pastor and wanted to have me look after their millions because they were dying, no family to leave it to. I pray regularly 🙏 and my leading was to NOT believe it. Shortly after that another one. I'm glad I didn't send 💰 to anyone but widows are frequently targeted for scams. Wow your level of scamming a scammer is impressive.
The problem is that law enforcement could easily do this, except it would probably count as baiting (or whatever the legal term is).
I wonder if any of those people you tracked down are really involved, or are just stupid middle hands who took money laundering as a hobby.
I suppose the only way to get to this is to report the bank accounts to the banks, because banks investigating these frauds does not count as vigilante for some reason.

You can also troll them with return transactions, when the money leaves your account then some days after returns because of some recipient fail, typo, etc.

Fine banks that allow this to happen.
Revert all the transactions.
Countries not participating are isolated from international bank transfers, as are counties who do not participate in hunting down the criminals.

This is not Sony versus Pirate Bay, where Sony and their representatives are allowed to doctor "evidence" to their hearts content and claim losses in excess of the world GNP. This is an actual, "small scale" crime hurting vulnerable people, and the justice system is not interested.
