  • I decided to go back to the Royal Thalassa Resort, Skanes, Monastir after having an excellent time there last year.
I've filmed the bits that I missed last time including the wonderful Spa Suites with their stunning sea views, private pool and luxurious surroundings.
Everything was as I'd expected it be regarding cleanliness, service and food choices, although being vegetarian I can struggle from time to time.
The Spa never fails to disappoint and while I was there I had two excellent facials. Thank you Wadji for arranging the appointments for me.
The weather was amazing reaching temperatures of 30 degrees a couple of days so I took advantage of that on the soft sand beach.
Once again I met some lovely people during my stay and it was nice to see some familiar faces of staff members who were still working at the hotel.
I like this hotel so much that I'm going back again in September for another two weeks of sun, fun and relaxation. See you soon!

Thanks Ann, the suites are fab and I agree it would be good fun to book one for Christmas. I’ll make some enquiries.
The only downside to the hotel is that there’s nothing about nearby.
A taxi to Monastir is 10 dinars each way so not too bad.
I’m going in September and for Christmas and the New Year too, bring it on!

Hi, hotel looks amazing and your videos convinced us to book our holidays there! I have one question, there is a "private pool area" on roof but we read opinions that access is public, how does it look in real? Also how is the food? Is there a variety to choose, is the food hot and tastes well? How are the drinks, do they serve good prepared drinks?

      Hi,
There is a private pool on the roof for Guests staying in a Suite only. From what I could see it’s shared with all of the Suites There’s also a pool in the Spa that you can pay to use that’s less public.
The food is varied with fresh cooking stations, plenty of fish and meats and local cuisine.
I’m vegetarian and I have to admit sometimes I did struggle to find options apart from salads.
The drinks aren’t bad, however it’s local brands that are used. You can pay extra for “top shelf” brands. The cocktails are quite nice though and are freshly made to order.
The hotel itself is lovely, very clean and has a gorgeous private beach.
The rooms could do with a refurb in my opinion but they’re adequate and very clean.
The only downside is that there’s nothing about outside the hotel. A taxi to Monastir will cost 10 dinars each way.
I hope that you enjoy your stay at The Royal Thalassa.. I’m going back in September and also for Christmas and the New Year. I
      Have a great time.

we will arrive there in fifteen days and I wanted to ask but there is a shop inside the village for purchasing basic necessities.
    Thank you

      Hi,
There’s a couple of shops inside the hotel that sells mainly quality pottery and clothing. The Owner will get you anything that you need if you ask him though.
There’s no shops nearby but a taxi in to Monastir cost 10 dinars each way (about £2,50)
Shower Gel, soap, shampoo and body lotion is provided and you can always ask for more.
I always buy snacks and other things that I need from Boots in the departure lounge and pop them in to my hand luggage.
Have a great time at the Royal Thalassa and enjoy the sun and your holiday.
Take factor 50 sun cream with you and after sun as one of my Tunisian friends has told me that it’s 40 degrees there. 😄

      Hi,
There is some entertainment most evenings but it’s quite low key.
There’s a singer, violinist, someone playing a keyboard, a quiz, bingo and karaoke.
People dance in the bar when there’s the musicians on there and there’s always a bit of dancing after the other entertainment has taken place.
I’ve only been during the winter months so I can’t confirm if there’s more entertainment on during the summer.
Have an amazing holiday and enjoy the beach.

    Shaun,
I’ve deleted your comments about the hotel because if you are still there you need to address your issues with the Manager Chokri.
