This season was definitely well written. "People will always surprise you when they don't wanna die."

Funny how once the sirens go off people go from tryna kill each other to 'oh, gotta follow the rules'

Because that's the premise of the story, Legal ≠ Moral and Illegal ≠ Immoral

Why do i got a feeling some people truly think like Joe and are looking for the same excuse he has.

@@GlitchBoy-ws5in that's an ignorant comment and view. I'm not conservative but it's still an inaccurate representation of the party.

    "It's murder"
Sir, just because murder is legal during the purge, does not mean it isn't murder.

Unfortunately, the series was canceled after Season 2. There are five Purge films (which you probably already knew about) and there will be a future 6th film (likely the final one).

Joe Owens is such a racist when he asked Pennelope where she was born but when he asked about her parents, he was asking if they were from Mexico and they came to America illegally but she and Miguel were born and raised in the U.S.

I think the point was though that he really was a law abiding citizen. He believed breaking the law was bad. But he was misguided and very wrong in his belief that simply because something is legal, it is absolved of immorality.

It's the whole premise of the show that people have the mindset to follow the rules. Of course you could argue that it makes no sense, and for that I recommend the Forever Purge (2021). But the Purge universe is unique and, for lack of better words, intriguing precisely because its people have this flawed sense of doing the right thing. Which, unless you're sociopath, is more or less the goal of every human being - although sometimes one's motivation is bent or flawed in some sense (e.g. gang violance).

Season 2 goes a bit into how the government monitors the Purge via CCTV and violators of the rules are put into a database and subsequently arrested and almost always executed following the Purge, so yes maybe Miguel did get away with it but they're also in a school where no doubt there is security cameras. You don't know for sure you've gotten away with it

He is crazy. Of course he doesn’t sees anything breaking rules he benefits from as wrong and illegal and everything he wants to do as okay and logical. Even the literal creators of the purge system and laws only follow the purge laws when convenient and break the rules when they want
