Nice to see someone care’s about fixing up a rare edger, you can barely find parts for this edger I had this edger and bought it new back in 98 and it was awesome sadly I got a new one because the engine was blown and too much money to fix it, I wish I would’ve kept it though 😕
Thanks! This one belonged to my Grandpa, and saw very little use from 1996-2012, so it's pretty low hours. Hopefully will last many more years. I spent $30 on a Zama carburetor, and it's been working awesome ever since. Starts, and stalls on the first pull, starts and runs on the second pull. It's never had ethanol fuel in it either.
dynatrak thank you for the reply to my comment, what happened with my edger was that it was put up with gas for 4 years! and I had to order new fuel lines, new carburetor, new spark plug and new gas tank and after all that work, I noticed that it was low on compression 😣 I would have Took the time to rebuild the engine but in total it’s cost was $126.86 and I bought a new echo pe 230 and it works great 👍
@@Doggo_Norse Sounds like you got a nice replacement! When I got the PE 2400, it needed new fuel lines, and primer bulb. Mine still has the original gas tank. I knew the carburetor would need to be replaced, but it lasted much longer than expected. I maybe have 50 bucks in it at this point. Not too bad for the age!
dynatrak looks like you’re going to need a new air filter for that edger good luck finding one 😂 I searched everywhere on the Internet for one when I still had my pe 2400 edger so what I did was I made a foam Air filter and it did the job well
@@Doggo_Norse Yeah I usually just spay it out with carb cleaner once in a while. It's physically still in good shape. I just looked it up, and there are plenty on ebay right now. May go ahead and snatch one up though!
My Craftsman weedwacker can use a carb most likely. It's weird. Not too hard to start cold, starts fine, comes out of the "start" position and keeps idling, revs up fine and works fine. Once you stop the engine, it's an easy 12 pulls to start it again. But once running, it runs fine. Very strange.
That's exactly what my Homelite leaf blower is doing. It's from around 2001 or so, and likely needs a new carb as well. I figured out mine is flooding itself out, and that makes it a huge pain to get restarted when warm. Once it does start, all is well. I found after shutting the blower off, loosening the gas cap, and then re-tightening seems to allow it to restart a little easier. I actually wasn't prepared for the edger to start on the first pull, but glad it did. It was a three pull today. I have to get used to the new choke setting, and it should be a one, or two pull to start.

dynatrak can you please do a demo of the PE2400?, how could a 1992 edger be sold in ‘96
I can try to demo it soon. Just looked at the original receipt again, was sold new 5/7/1993 for $321.74, will update the title!
dynatrak can you do a full review of the 1993 Echo PE2400? , is this the Only ECHO product you have?
Also got an Echo GT-225L string trimmer from 2016. I can demo/review them both, but it'll be a while. Probably when I'm on vacation next month.
Someone please tell me what the air or fuel screws are turned at for perfect running please!
After a quick search, I found this one.
