His rustic charm and tone are what's needed in the present climate. You can leave this troubled world for a short while and drown in his mesmerising lectures. Cheers Phil
I hardly ever hear an accent like that down here in Tasmania, and certainly no one just like Phil. It felt like a call from a dear old friend as soon as I touched the 'play' icon. 😄
‘Oh god aaah!’ (meaning ‘a very vehement Yes’!) - I hope he throws in one of those next time!! My dad (a 69 year old farmer from Somerset) looks and sounds so identical to Phil that it’s uncanny, they must be related. Sunday teatimes watching Time Team with my parents and brothers were the best and Phil was like part of the family. National treasure. So so glad he’s still active and enthusiastic and the knees are going strong!
They could always do a Time Team 2 with a new crew, but people would complain about the new crew then. :D p.s. Guest appearances by members of the original team would be greatly appreciated though. ;)
Phil is one of those people you just can't avoid liking. From his battered hat (on Time Time) to his unassuming nature. He's one of the most surprising academics I have ever seen. Great to see him solo.
@ excuse you? Is this Kid slang?? Actually, I am only commenting on what has been observed. It's not an insult it's just that the English are more cold and distant. All except for the double cheek kiss thing they do, as if they love "everyone". Guess it's the end of that, now...
You better make the most of him while you can. Any mention of that RACIST, IMPERIALIST Duke of Wellington is a “No No” to BLM. Any interest shown in Wellington and Waterloo shows your White Privilege. Watch out!
i had the privilege to visit this dig 2 years ago while cycling in Belgium, it was absolutely fascinating to see the work being done here and the work being down with the veterans. the finds room was out of this world. unfortunately i did not get chance to talk with Phil Harding as he was giving a tour to some VIPs.
I love nothing more than Phil and Tony's interactions in Time Team. Glad to see Phil (and his hat) are keeping busy and promoting history and archaeology amidst everything.
Phil was the best part of Time Team. The way he made every little find feel like it was THE MOST IMPORTANT discovery! I miss Time Team, I miss Phil and Mick (RIP) and that silly goofy little Tony who eschewed everything!
Dr Harding I just want to say I m one of those people who have been profoundly positive affected by your televised career. Your passion is only matches by your skill as a communicator. When my depression and anxiety get super tough your voice is like a soothing balm. I cannot truly put my gratitude into words. with humble thanks and kindest regards. Josh
Hi Phil! Hi Phil's Hats! "Found" Phil on TT - binge-watching episodes of which have helped keep my questionable sanity sane during COVID - and am thrilled to find this series! He's a natural teacher, great presentation, can't help but learn while being fascinated as the tells his tales. Lovely to be able to watch him and catch his enthusiasm!
So Pleased to see Phil again after so long. You look good Phil. Time Team was so long ago, I an so very gladdened to know that you are still at work, uncovering History. God Bless you Phil.
@Tim Webb The one he wears first - (the panama?) has a hat band appears to be in RAF's 'regimental' colours (the colours of the Service's Tactical Recognition Flash and Stable Belt). I think that one of the Calvary regiments may have similar. Of course it could all be coincidental and Phil just liked the colours.
I have only recently discovered Time Team and have enjoyed catching up with such a long lasting series. What a great bunch of people to have worked with.

It is very nice to see he is still able to fulfill his passion of archeology and give a good accounting of it. He is able to spark the curiosity for both history and archeology.
I had the great pleasure of working with Phil during series seven of Time Team. I was a newly pro photographer. Out of all the Team, Phil was my very favourite. Friendly, open, infinitely knowledgable and exactly as you see him on the screen.
Phil, you are a great explainer. I’ve loved watching you talk ever since I discovered Time Team many years ago. If I ever get to Wessex, I’ll buy you a beer!

Loved watching Phil Harding and Mick Aston on Time Team. I think both men have and were (now that sadly Mick is no longer with us) never given the recognition from the British Honours System they so richly deserve.
