    Why on earth wouldnt you just titled this magnificent piece of art slightly different? Like- Different Focal lenghts for vlogging and etc. It should be illegal for youtube to cut the reach of the video so much. It should be illegal for people NOT to watch this! I know all this stuff perfectly well, and yet i still enjoyed the whole video. The sheer quality of your content is amazing!

      @@wysokieiso haha thank you! I’ve changed the title twice already; titling a TH-cam video is such a difficult thing to get right.. on most phones people only see like the first four words of the title so it needs convey the initial idea too quickly..

      @@NicholasJamesJohnsonyour thumbnail game is tops. I watched another one of your videos yesterday and was blown away with how wise I was after. Title wouldn’t have got me on this one (not that that’s necessarily helpful information for you) BUT you plus thumbnail totally did. Thanks for the clear education. I’ve watched a load of these sorts of videos over the years and yours are the best. You show and for a camera caveman like me that’s what I needed

    Hey Nick, great video to understand how lenses and their lengths work. What kind of lens should I use on the Sony ZV-E10 II for portrait shots? Use case: Vertical shots of me talking into a camera at my home desk, with heavy bokeh (extremely important)-for Instagram reels. Another detail-there is not a lot of space in the room. The desk is backed up to a wall. The distance to the wall is under 3 feet.

    • @NicholasJamesJohnson
      @NicholasJamesJohnson  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@sayedhumaid heavy bokeh with less than three feet between you and the wall is a tall order! If you’re just looking for head and shoulders you might be able to do what you want with a 50mm f1.2 or f1.4. If you want more of your body the 30mm f/1.4 will still provide a lot of background blur. Anything wider in that small of a space and you’ll lose the effect.

    • @sayedhumaid
      @sayedhumaid หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NicholasJamesJohnson I really appreciate your response, Nick. Just some more clarity is needed. Because there is a wall, and the camera is on a tripod slightly away from the wall, along with my face and torso with some headroom for any graphics over the head, I want the hands on the desk to be slightly visible (Like someof your shots in this video, but portrait instead). 30mm should do the job for this use case right, right?

    • @NicholasJamesJohnson
      @NicholasJamesJohnson  หลายเดือนก่อน

    great video but the problem is that the definition of a small room is kinda different. sometimes a room is just 3mx3m and u will less than an arm's length to play with. You'd want a compression but you can only use a 10mm to grab an MS. The only solution is to move to a different country where you can afford a better house/apartment.

      I did briefly have that thought while editing this video. And I think I didn't quite do enough to explain that particular difference, zooming into a frame vs using a completely different lens- and especially since I was bouncing back and fourth between lenses WHILE ALSO zooming into and out of the frame. I need to take another crack at being more clear in this subject.
