Welcome back to Big Book Summer, Mitzi! Thanks for adding your link to the challenge page on my blog,. I'll be sharing it on social media today! Sounds like some really great choices for you. I always enjoy Kate Morton, though I haven't read that one yet. I've never read any Rosamund Pilcher, but she's on my list because everyone is always raving about her books! I LOVED A Gentleman in Moscow - great characters, twisty story, and great sense of humor, plus so many memorable quotes. Cloud Cuckoo Land is on my stack for this summer, too! Enjoy them all, Mitzi! You're also welcome to join the Goodreads group, if you want to share your video link there, she what everyone else is reading, and chat about Big Books all summer!

Hi Mitzi, you have so many wonderful choices! I love all the James Herriot books, and Rosamunde Pilcher! Both of those are top notch! I think Eugenia Price would be so good too! I’d love to try her! I like whatever you like. I can count on that. Enjoy. I have a huge stack myself. I’d like to reread Pennmaric by Susan Howatch and reread the older Mary Stewart’s!😊

I've been reading a few big books this summer written by C.J. Sansom. 600 page Historical Mysteries that are about a hunchbacked lawyer during the reign of Henry the 8th. Wonderful writing that is easy to read and moves along quickly. I have really come to like the Lawyer Matthew Shardlake. A great character. I like your reading choices.

I stumbled onto your channel today and love your selection. I am also near Savannah and books set in nearby places in the Southeast and Georgia in particular always appeal to me. Listening to you speaking about these books is just like going to my local book club! I will follow your channel for sure. 😊

I read the RL Delderfield novels (decades ago) and loved them. I also need to read Gentleman in Moscow - perhaps this will be the time for it! You have a lovely pile of possibilities.

My favorite author is Eugenia Price. I love her historical references and character development. Savannah is the first of her Savanah Quartet series. I re-read all of her books often and have not found another author that matches her writing style. Her non-fiction books are inspirational and the story of her coming to faith in Christ is wonderful as well. I hope you enjoy Savannah and ultimately more of her books. The majority of her books are "chunkers"! Happy Summer Reading!

❤📚 You have some amazing book options. A Gentleman in Moscow is one of my favorites. I have Lorna Doone, The Distant Hours and Cloud Cuckoo Land unread on my bookshelves (must read soon, lol).
I just started Charles Dickens book Little Dorrit, on page 72 of 928 pages. I'll be reading it through the summer.

Yay for your new library! I can't wait to see it finished. I had not heard of the Big Book Summer Challenge. I had been planning to read Column of Fire this summer, but I had just about talked myself out of it. LOL!
I have all those James Herriot books and still haven't started them. I've heard such good things. I have that Kate Morton too, but haven't been able to find it on audio so I haven't gotten to it.
I might have extra copies of the books in the Savannah Quartet, so let me know which ones you still need. In fact I might be persuaded to read that too if you decide to read it this summer.
Gentleman in Moscow is a favorite of mine. I started watching the show and am enjoying it too. I listened to Lorna Doone a few years ago and had a hard time getting interested in it.
Wolf Hall was NOT for me. That was one of the first books that my local book club read and everyone loved it but me. I was just not interested.

I've read several huge books by Delderfield - I've really enjoyed them all! You cannot go wrong with a James Herriot. Kate Morton is hit or miss for me, lately mostly miss unfortunately. OH MAN, I read Coming Home many years ago and TOTALLY loved it! I decided I needed to re-read it, and nabbed myself another copy some time back. SO GOOD. I also read Savannah and it was fabulous. I tried Gentleman in Moscow and had to set it aside - maybe I'll try it again sometime.... Oh those older Sarah Sundin's books are wonderful!! I love the Tudor era, and have Wolf Hall, but I've been ignoring it for years! Why??!! 🙂

HI Mitzi, I can't wait to see your reveal videol
I read A Gentleman in Moscow Twice. I liked it. I think you will find the Count very charming. Just last night I picked up a Distant Melody Sarah Sundin , I remember you talked about a quite awhile back.

  • @ThisLittleLightLife
    @ThisLittleLightLife 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I finished Sarah Sundin's The Land Beneath Us last month. Loved it. (There is a SA in the first part but Sundin handled it respectfully and it was integral to the story.) My favorite part was seeing the training that the earliest Army Rangers went through and following them through their mission on D-Day.
This will be my first year participating in Big Book Summer! Quite excited! Hope your summer reading is stellar, Mitzi!

what a fun pile of possibilities for this challenge! I think you will enjoy that Eugenia Price series - Savannah is book 1 in 4(?), I read this many years ago and loved it. I too have A Gentleman in Moscow and Wolfhall on my shelves, haven't read either yet. For some reason Wolfhall is really intimidating to me, not sure why? Love the cover of that Sarah Sundin book. Loving those shelves behind you! I'd vote for the Rosamund Pilcher book to start.

I just finished The Women by Kristin Hannah, (for BBS) as it had been recommended to me a few times. It was a subject that needed writing about but not a favorite book for me. I just last night added Coming Home as it was already on my TBR cart. Serendipity! I seem to overlap with you quite a bit. And Wolf Hall is one that I have on my shelf but haven’t been able to get myself to start it. Not sure if that will be this summer though. I’ve got to get back to my D. E. Stevenson, etc. 😉
