  • Shrimad Adya Shankaracharya jayanti is celebrated with Gyan Yagya at Murgud, Kagal, Kolhapur from 12th to 16th May 2024.
Shankaracharyaji studied the Vedic scriptures and explained the Advait vedanta with critical commentaries. At the same time he also wrote several beautiful stotras, one among which is "Bhaja Govindam". The central theme of the work is "Moha mudgar"- Destruction of Delusion with a hammer.
I had to study the stotra and speak on Shloka 23 of Bhaja Govindam, based on the book shared a month and half in advance by my Guru.
Having studied the Bhawad gita for over two years, and now studying the Upanishads and Atmaram with Gurus Dr. Sunil Lule kaka and Shaila Lule kaku, it was a heart warming experience participating in a live Gyan Yagya with them at Murgud, Kagal, Kolhapur. A very divine experience was seeking the blessings of Dr Kaka- Shrikrishna Deshmukh there.
Kolhapur being the janmabhumi of my father Shri Arvind Sitaram Datar, made the whole experience so special and so meaningful. Ever grateful to him for instilling the enthusiasm for living life fully and confidently!

Text of Shloka 23 of Bhaja Govindam-
    कस्त्वं कोऽहं कुत आयातः
    का मे जननी को मे तातः ।
    इति परिभावय सर्वमसारम्
    विश्वं त्यक्त्वा स्वप्नविचारम् ॥ २३॥
Who are you ? Who am I ? From where do I come ? Who is my mother,
who is my father ? Ponder thus, look at everything as essence-less
and give up the world as an idle dream.
