I saw one of the dev posted this on twitter: "none of the vocaloids used in scratchin melodii were changed btw! they’re all the exact same vocals (and the same project files too for the remasters) just tuned to sound more understandable!! the only vocal that was changed is melodii in grease poppin for the sake of consistency"
Scratchin Melodii is like Parappa the Rapper for Gen Z nerds. By which I mean it's modern and cool. There's so much passion and care put into literally everything the player sees and hears. Packed with humor and references while still showing off great music and fun gameplay. There's something interesting hiding everywhere, it really warrants replaying the stages a bunch and focusing in different parts of the screen. Like, in Supastar Tennis, did you notice the spectators sometimes dance to the scratching, and are implied to be the "aye aye aye aye" on the backtrack? Or that Biggie Cheecake is sitting in the background eating before he joins? In Sidechain Fever, aside from the million Puyo Puyo references, Melodii has different hair when they get it styled. In this video, they have Jimmy Neutron hair. In other uploads, I've seen them have Sonic hair. Also this game is hreat for representation. The main character is non-binary, their best friends are two Black siblings who aren't reduced to harmful stereotypes, but cool, rebellious figures that a kid like Melodii would look up to. They like hip hop and spray painting but the game presents this as not only cool but unreasonable to be mad at. Only the villains of the game, the police, care that they "vandalize" with their art. They also use proper AAVE, something which a lot of media eother ignores or gets wrong. Nami is implied to be Japanese, her name is literally "Wave" in Japanese, which references both the .wav file type that a lot of sounds are categorized as, but her vaporware aesthetic, which is inspired largely by Japanese media of the 80s and 90s. Jamtine is a White woman, and although that's traditional, there's nothing wrong with it. I feel like a lot of people misunderstand why people want diversity and representation in media, it's not to exclude White people, but to include other people who otherwise aren't represented as much. Plus Jamtine is fucking insane and it's great. She's also seen doing ballet during the tennis match, which contrasts with Cinnabay and Biggie Cheesecake's hip hop/break dancing. McWaves is a clown! I'm assuming Rensa is Indian or some other south Asian, although it's hard to tell. I don't know enough about her since her part in the story mode hasn't been released so there's not a lot of characterization of her that we can see. Still, what we can see with Rensa is a theme that extends to every other character in this game: expression. Cinnabay and her brother have music and paint, they are also unabashedly themselves. They don't care if people disapprove of their ways, they live as they please, a lot of people, like the guy with the fence, are chill with it. Nami has her meditation and competitiveness; she's calm but challenges Melodii for the job at McWaves, ultimately landing the spot despite losing to Melodii in their rival battle. Jamtine cooks for her community, being known by Melodii for her cooking even before their rival battle. She also expresses love through baking (though she says she's not that good at it), successfully winning over Juice with her cookies. McWaves owns his own burger business, calling it his "art", the grill is his canvas. Also, clowns seem to be some sort of protected class in this game's universe? (An NPC says he doesn't trust the McWaves restaurant, and his friend says he's disappointed in him for making this comment, "because he's a clown"). Rensa appears to be venting in her song, unhappy with her station of, uh, Puyo piyoing all the time. Though it's cute when Melodii encourages her to "love what she became". So good. Also, the Cinnabay song has a Nintendo Switch Sports-like arena and makes similar sounds at the start when the ball is hit. Melodii's piano says AGES in the same font as the SEGA logo too- a code to tap in on the Sonic 1 & 2 mobile ports.
I didn't even notice at first but Biggie boi is left handed. In superstar tennis everyone is holding their racket with their right hand except for Biggie. Biggie is holding his racket with his left hand. I'm not sure if this was an error or an Easter egg but it's kinda cool tho (Edit) I just noticed Synthz might be left handed too
I love how the characters seem like they really enjoy singing and scratchin'. Even loving the OG FNF, there's no life in the characters' animation and performances.
I mean, that is how FNF and optionally Project Diva does it, unlike Parappa with vocals tied to button presses, there is a single vocals track that is simply muted whenever you miss a note

Melodii's voice got a major upgrade compared to the previous version. actually, all the voices got an overall upgrade tho The fnf outro as per usual despite not being an fnf video cracked me up 😂

Personally I prefer most of the old versions of the songs since they were made for that version of the vocaloid, but, I do think overall the new songs are better and more catchy than the rest because they were made with the new vocaloid--and less restrictions in mind.
