Hi ya Nick. I saw that you were doing this one today. I was so excited. THANK YOU RICH FOR GETTING IT BACK OUT IN CIRCULATION AGAIN! I feel like this song is a prelude to what's about to happen in the world, for good and bad and also a song of the fight and hope. The battle will be won. Thank you ❤
'An epitaph of a big battle' - you are so right. After Avi left PTX in 2017 he spent a year battling depression and anxiety, together with (I believe) a certain amount of legal fallout; not being allowed to record etc. This song, released in 2020, was his fight back song. He did fend off the enemy and is building a successful solo career, adored by his many fans. His second international tour starts later this year and he is releasing another ep in April. Although you have a fabulous Avi back catalogue to catch up on, you might like to listen to his two latest releases 'Healing' and 'Feel Alright'. They couldn't be more different in feel and yet they are unmistakably Avi.
This song was actually released in March 2019, and he did his first solo concerts the following month as artist-in-residence at The Basement in Nashville. A couple of months later, he did his first US tour (I went to 3 of those shows and have videos on my YT channel), with a European tour right after.
Avi! Yes, this song is so powerful, but somehow soothing the soul as well! All the background vocals and the booms and growls are Avi! The only instrumentation is a tambourine and organ at the bridge. I hope you continue to explore Avi's music. Avi sings in many different styles and in all his range. The one thing that is constant is his stellar writing/ composing skills and his gorgeous voice! Cheers!
You have taken your first step into the depths of what I've dubbed The Dragon's Lair. Since Avi is a huge LOTR and dragon lover, a rabbit hole is completely insufficient to describe his ever-expanding catalog of original music that crosses genres. Walk deeper into that cave, Nick. It's a wonderful journey.
Avi! I agree about the sound of the song echoing the 'Negro Spirituals' (I think they have tried to rename them African American Spirituals, but not sure the new term has stuck). As different as many of Avi's songs sound from each other, they all seem to contain a depth clothed in simplicity. I would love to see you react to more Avi. One of my personal favorites is "Quarter Past Four" as Avriel and the Sequoias - for a completely different side of Avi.
Thank you for reacting to AVI. It was a good one, AVI has had two new tracks out in the last three months HEALING and then FEEL ALRIGHT both brilliant both different you will not be disappointed 💜🫶🏼
Avi is a huge Hobbit/Lord of the Rings fan! I love this powerful creation from him ~ Really enjoyed your reaction to this, Thanks! This Avi fan will be back for more Avi reactions anytime!
Hearing this live is amazing. His voice is so powerful and you feel it in your chest, esp the songs with the really low notes. I've been to two of his concerts and the audience sings along. It's really powerful.
This was his first release after leaving Pentatonix. I think it speaks for it self. We all fell in love with him in the group and followed when he left.
I think this is song is a fan favorite; strong & powerful lyrics & video. After leaving PTX, Avi had his own personal battles to fight, & this song came as a result. We all have experienced times when there needed to be a "Change on the Rise". Avi deep bass is perfect for this song. Thanks for reacting, and I agree with you- this is a Revolution song! 👏😀
The I’ll Get By EP and Floating on a Dream album are both phenomenal. I got to see Avi in LA during the Floating on a Dream tour. My daughter, who is music major in college, got to talk music theory with him a little. He is as kind and humble as he is talented.
Thank you for reacting to Avi, I love all his music. It’s very eclective and you never know what you’ll get next, you just know that it’ll be fantastic. His latest songs, “Healing” and “Feel alright”, are great examples of his diversity (and the videos have the same colours as “Change on the rise”). Subbed for more Avi, he never disappoints.
Avi is amazing on his own, I hope you’ll listen to more of his solo music! Chains, All is Well (all versions of it) and Quarter past four (released as Avriel and the Sequoias) are some of my favorites!
So much better going solo…keep reading he had a rough when leaving PTX not sure if true….this was his beginning after…” All is well” 7 layers session is beautiful…
That is a paint yourself blue, grab up your sword and march on your oppressing enemies song. Sorry if I sound like I'm channeling William Wallace but that's my heritage. I'm sure others see themselves getting pitchforks and burning down Dr. Frankenstein's castle or marshaling the horsemen to destroy the Great Wall and take for themselves the great cities of the Far East. Yep, it's revolution.

One reactor declared that this song was the most masculine song he ever heard. I could not disagree.
Avi’s solo work is awesome!
Avi, Avi, Avi! This song is epic! When Avi yells it is so powerful that it hits hard.
If you think this is fire, you should hear him perform it live!🔥🔥🔥 This song was Avi reclaiming his soul.
P.S. His US tour starts in May.😉
Thanks for the heads-up. I had a ticket to see him in March 2020 - and the concert was cancelled for Covid. I hope he gets out here to CA this summer.
FEEDS MY SOUL !!! So moving what a voice xx
That deep rumble in the background is Avi!😅
Old Gospel feel. Really enjoyed this.

Thank you for ur insight much appreciated xx
Love his entire catalog of work. It's very eclectic so you NEVER know what you are going to get. What a unique talent with a glorious voice.
I always thought this song would be GREAT as the theme for a werewolf movie! Lol
Hoping you do more Avi!! His solo stuff is so good and hits very different.
Reminds me of viking/tribal

Dragon’s Lair! That’s THE perfect name for it. Well done, Charlotte!

Awww WHAT !!! Chilling voice LOVE IT xxx
Yes! re: your 'days of slavery' feeling & impressions. This feels like a stand up, speak up, coming-out-of-oppression call and anthem.
I've seen him perform this live. It is insane!

Me belly laughing at your accidental double entendres 😂
Avi's war cry for me ... I love this song !❤❤❤❤
Love this one! Look forward to more Avi reactions.
My understanding is that ALL vocals are Kaplan.
This should be the theme song for Sons of Anarchy!
Strong and sooo deep. Great!❤❤❤

Yes! 💚 All Is Well, 7 Layers Session #126 is simply beyond beautiful!
