Personally I like the questioner. The tangent about whether the prophet Muhammad made ijtihad on rulings was interesting. Sometimes I think Yasir Qadhi doesn't want to delve into a topic and it is up to uncles like this guy to get it out of him.

    • @ajsid
      @ajsid 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

Yes, the subject of ijtihad is indeed interesting, I definitely agree, though there is a time and place for tangents like this - like in an academic/scholarly class of fiqh or Alim/mufti studies, or maybe during a one on one session with a scholar, if you want to scratch your itch to gain deeper understanding of this niche subject. It's clear that Yasir Qadhi doesn't always like answering these type of questions because the purpose of these sessions are for seerah, to learn about the life our beloved prophet peace be upon him, and to increase our love for him - not for deep discussions about the mechanisms of ruling, which are delicate subjects even for people with the academic background. Not to mention, this same uncle routinely delves into unnecessary topics with a tone which borders on antagonism. While it does take part of the Seerah, it's not up to laymen to dive into ijtihad, especially since for us the most important thing to know is that our blessed prophet Muhammad peace be upon him was the example and role model of the Ummah and we must follow his teachings and orders. Anyways Salaam and thanks for reading my two cents!

Early from the human perspective as we have a concept of what a full life is. If someone is murdered for example, we can acknowledge both that it was Allah's decree and that it's a tragedy caused by a killer. Both are true basically.

Episode 36 - Episode 42 (Final Part) (Started on EP36)
I will repost this on Episodes 40-42.
Fun Trivia fact: Even the Angels have animals and weapons. Even though they do not need them.
Fun Trivia fact: The Angels even name their animals!
Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW forbade the Muslims from killing his uncle Abbas RA and Abul Bukhtari RA during the Battle of Badr.
Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAWs uncle Abbas RA, was captured during the Battle of Badr with the help of a Malak.
Fun Trivia fact: All of the Angels during the Battle of Badr wore the same apparel as Zubair Ibn Awwam RA, as a form of respect to him.
Fun Trivia fact: The elite of the Angels are those who participated in the Battle of Badr. That’s how significant that Battle was.
Fun Trivia fact: It’s important to note that, the Angels themselves did not actually fight or else the battle would have ended instantaneously. Instead, the companions RA made the action to attack and then the Angel would finish the action that the companion RA started. This is why there was 1000 Angels sent on that day.
Fun Trivia fact: Ukasha bin Mihsan RA, broke his sword during the Battle. The Prophet SAW then gave him a twig and told him to fight with that. Ukasha RA did as he was commanded and the twig turned into a sword, that Ukasha RA then used up until his death. This was one of the miracles of the Prophet SAW.
Fun Trivia fact: In Islamic Fiqh, the one who kills the opponent gets to keep the personal belongings of his victim.
Fun Trivia fact: Ummayah was the only Qurayshi that was not buried after the Battle of Badr. This was because when the Muslims attempted to lift his body, it would decompose and thus they put pebbles on top of his body. This was ironic considering his oppression of Bilal RA.
Fun Trivia fact: The dead Muslims in the grave can hear those who visit their graves according to the majority of Muslim scholars and Sahabah RA. But, there is another view held by Sahabah RA like Aisha RA and Umar RA that, the dead cannot hear those who visit their graves. My view is Allahu Allam.
Fun Trivia fact: Allah SWT did not allow any Ummah to receive war booty, except the Ummah of Prophet SAW.
Trivia fact: Uthman RA wanted to attend the Battle of Badr but, he was told to look after his wife Ruqayyah RA who was severely sick. Ruqayyah RA later passed away from this illness on the same day that the Prophet SAW came back from Badr.
Fun Trivia fact: The Prophet SAW could make ijtihad and sometimes he was correct when he did it and other times he was incorrect or corrected by Allah SWT. Essentially, not all ijtihad from the Prophet SAW is Wahi directly from Allah SWT.
Fun Trivia fact: Some prisoners of war from the Battle of Badr were set free since they were poor. Other prisoners were also poor but, knew how to read and write and thus they were set free on the condition that, they teach the children of the Ansar, how to read and write.
Fun Trivia fact: Muslims were initially allowed to be married to polytheists and this only changed in 5AH when Quranic Ayah’s were revealed banning this. Zainab RA is a great example of this since she was married to Abu Al As RA, who was a pagan for a long time before converting.
Trivia fact: Zainab RA had a miscarriage before she reunited with the Prophet SAW in Medina because she fell off her camel after a mob of Qurashi’s tried to stop her from leaving.
Fun Trivia fact: The aunt of the Prophet SAW, Lubaba RA, was the second woman to embrace Islam after Khadijah RA.
Fun Trivia fact: Al Abbas RA, was sympathetic to Islam prior to the Battle of Badr. But he did not accept it completely until he was taken prisoner after Badr and even then he was sent back to Makkah and remaining a secret convert.
Fun Trivia fact: The miracle in Surah Ar Rum, which was that the Romans would defeat the Persians occurred in the 7th year of the Dawah, long before Badr. This Surah also states that the Romans would achieve victory on the same day that the Muslims would be helped by Allah SWT. This was a reference to the Battle of Badr which happened at the same time that the Romans defeated the Persians.
Fun Trivia fact: The elite of the Sahabah are those who participated in the Battle of Badr.
Fun Trivia fact: After the Battle of Badr, the son of Ummayah Ibn Khalaf, Safwan, and his cousin Umayr Ibn Wahb plotted to kill the Prophet SAW as revenge for the loss at Badr. But, when Umayr tried to do this, he was shown a miracle and converted to Islam. Almost a decade later Safwan became a Muslim also.

Disclaimer for my Notes of Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Series:
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh, these are my notes on Sheikh Yasir Qadhi’s Seerah series.
Please note: I HIGHLY recommend that you all watch YQ’s Seerah series, as I DON’T cover every single detail the Sheikh mentions. I made these notes primarily for myself but, decided my fellow brothers and sisters may benefit from them too. I no doubt will have made mistakes in my notes. All the good in these notes is from Allah SWT and all the mistakes are from myself. But, I was very meticulous and tried my best to make sure everything is accurate as the Sheikh mentions it.
You also will see I have added “Fun Trivia facts” under each of my notes. These FTFs are information YQ said that was off topic or not necessary to include in my notes for the episode. But, they were still worth mentioning hence the inclusion as FTFs. FTFs aren’t always HAPPY pieces of information. Sometimes they are very sad trivia. I just want to say that FTF is the phrase I used for them all collectively when making the notes.
One thing I wanted to do but am too lazy to do is, maybe someone could take the FTFs from under each “Episode” and make an Islamic reminder/information IG/TikTok account and post them daily or something. Could be a great form of Sadaqah Jaariyah.
Please keep me in your Duas and ask Allah SWT to forgive all our sins during this blessed month and beyond! Ameen

What sawdah said when she saw the leader of Mecca in the house raswal Allah as a war prisoner what she said no one can forgive that to her other than a prophet of Allah rather other than prophet Muhammad for he is the leader of all prophets and messengers of Allah

Yes, but it is also understandable considering all of the mothers and companions were humans. Humans are not meant to be perfect, including them.
All of these people grew up in a certain culture their entire lives with a certain mentality. Islam is still so new for them. Of course, they will slip up now and then. The prophet, who is perfect, understood this.

Honestly bro you are a very annoying guy who just tried to engage in a debate or come up with provocative statements wanting a justification. Please ask your questions in private because I don't think outwit people are interested in your self gratification rants! None of what you discuss has anything to do with a practice that will allow us to gain more reward or to prevent us in doing an action that is disliked by Allah. Instead of interjecting with things that are only important to you why don't you run a class like Dr Qadhi and welcome people to participate to discuss the trivialities that constitutes Shariya to you !

With modesty and respect, to answer the sheiks question of "when else were captives treated better than their captors?" The answer, shamefully, is that in world war II, African Americans Volunteered and fought to be included in the US armed forces, including in Military Police Units. After America entered the African Theater of War and began capturing German POWs. These were sent to POW camps in America that were guarded by, Military Police. In the southern US where Jim Crowe Laws were still in place, German POWs were allowed out of their camps to visit local restaurants that would serve the German POWs, but not the African American MP that was guarding them... Sad right?

I think this guy is trying to highlight the racism Inherent in America where the 'captors' who were African Americans were treated worse than the 'pows' who were white Germans.,

I believe WW2 happened many years after Badr. ;p

Battle of Badr occurred around 1 Hijra i.e 622 AD. WW2 occurred in 1939-1945. What are you comparing?.

Wow that’s tragic! I get your point about the better treatment of prisoners than captors, but unfortunately it was due to the racism and not from treating the pows with decency and compassion🙏🏼
