Honor flight is an outstanding charity that helps former warriors visit nation monuments and battle fields around the world...... plus might I suggest a guthook skinning knife..... great work as usual....
Just wanted to say how awesome this video was. There are loads of videos of people forging rounding hammers that skip over huge parts or have the full forging but don't explain what they're doing and why they're doing it. They also don't say why they're not doing certain things as well. This was fantastic
Love the videos, man! I live in lower Alabama, work outside and totally understand what being soaking wet in sweat is like! I still don’t mind standing in front of my forge though. Keep up the good work and the no nonsense approach to helping us novices!!
Nice job with the hammer! Charity suggestions? Project Linus. They supply security blankets for children exposed to trauma. My foster children get them and that's where I discovered this great handmade comfort for kids in need of their own comfort. If only momentarily. I know it's not your forte, but distribution costs for the homemade blankets help immensely.
Aswell i was commenting when bam! She gone, anyway. Well done. Definitely getting better and streamlining the process with every hammer. Big difference from your first rounding Hammer video. It will be very helpful 4 us who r looking forward to our first attempt at Hammer making. As are your other Hammer videos. Lets what it again
You mentioned that you were working without a shirt, I’m allergic to sunlight, I don’t even own a short sleeve shirt. Long sleeves for 60 years, it’s a little cooler than bare skin, seems to me. Thank you Sir for the video.
Did he say he's using an 8lb hand hammer to forge other hammers? My arm can barely get through forging things with a 3.5lb hammer after 1-3 hrs. Guess I need to start practicing with my 10lb dumbells and work them forging muscles. Beautiful work through friend. It was a pleasure to watch you forge.
Wow, thanks for the etsy link. Now I know I have been undercharging for my work lol. I usually charge $5 for my leaf pendants and feather wall hooks. Only charged $20 for a RR spike knife. I haven't tried axes or hammers yet, but when I move up to those its nice to know I can get way more than I would have thought. Thanks again 👍
Don't know what happened to the first video, but here's what I tried to comment after watching it earlier. "Nicely done John! I really enjoy the simplicity of your hammers! Just elegant and refined. I agree with you on how the completely charred handle looks really good against the brushed head. Keep up the good work and stay safe and well hydrated out there brother! God bless!"
I see you got your Ribbon Burner running I have had mine for a year now and I needed to replace it . I have two burners ready just waiting for them to dry before I cure them. These are great on the fuel usage. Great Hammer by the way...
Nice build, nice to see this done without a power hammer or striker(I haven't either) keep well and keep the good work going all the bet from North Yorkshire, UK
You have a video on choosing blacksmithing hammers (&work face dimentions)? I'm just getting started. Bought a 1500g cross peen with square face. The other hammers I was looking at (1000g) I'd have to grind and clean so much that id be loosing weight and had a very narrow face. Also points on wood handles vs fiberglass, also the finishing on the eyes of the hammers (some have a smooth plastic or glue)
I’ve started doing the handle thing where you use a chisel and force the wedge in and I must say it is far better in my opinion. Much tighter and ive had less issues when i do that
ScrubMonk3y ! Yup. Still my go to method. Seems to hold up better in my experience. Just can’t use too thick of a wedge or it can split far into the wood past the end of the eye. But generally it seems to work much better for me. Plus it saves time of cutting a slice
Awesome vid! You sound better and better every vid! I guess that ... not the skills at forging... but as an instructor and narrator (or ”youtuber”) you improve very fast! Keep it up, its awesome to see and listen to you!
Thats cool John, nice hammer! Love the built in power hammer you have, been swinging hammers almost all my life and an 8 pounder is something I very, very rarely swing as a hand hammer! As for the shirt, Im in Queensland Australia and in the heat of summer forging in shorts and thongs is common for me, yep, hot scale is HOT, but burns heal and heatstroke can kill!
I'd just about shit myself if Jon came up on me, no shirt, covered in hair, sweat and soot- and said "we're gonna start spreadin the cheeks out, Nothin' to it really"
Sorry for the re upload, forgot the intro and credits, can’t have that
Figured that was y.

Doesnt matter how many times i watch a vid of urs they never get old
“Got my eight pound hammer makin hammer” I’m so glad I found your channel

Dang when are they putting you in the sexy blacksmith calendar? Lol I had to give you some flack since you said we shouldn't. As always great content.
Now there's a calendar I want to buy! And I agree, John should be included in it if its ever made
The 8 pound hammer to forge hammers is why I buy hammers. But the cost of that guillotine is why I made my own :) Thanks John,
Lol!!!! When you quenched that hammer it looked like you were trying to drown an ex

You're a freaking machine John

Nice to see you have a ribbon burner forge 👍
Very well done my friend, in about a month I will be making my first hammer
I love the Norse tattoo on your upper back. Love Old Norse anything and everything and that caught my eye.
Try making a friction folder or straight razor for the charity build.
Wauw.. Incredible! Very nice video as well, your step by step explanation and tips! Thanks again.

Thank you Sir for the video.
Nice work 👍🏻 pretty raw, no power hammers and fancy gear, like it a lot

Awesome hammer dude
Love the fuller setup!!
You make it look so easy!!!!
Great job!!!💥👊🏼💥👊🏼👍🏻
I have hammer #222, fun to see how it was made!
Nice build, nice to see this done without a power hammer or striker(I haven't either) keep well and keep the good work going all the bet from North Yorkshire, UK
hey man great video. Thats a frigin awesome hammer i love it , and like the way you finished it up black. Great job
Wow, that’s a huge swing
And I now know why everything looks tiny in your videos
Excellent job
Fine work on a great hammer ⚒️ !
Hello John, since you asked for ideas, how about forging a set of pitching horseshoes? Love your videos
Old hickory forge should use hickory handles, food for thought.

That is a serious workout. Great job. Thanks for sharing....

Just curious if this far out you’re still experiencing success with this? Both Justin, and John. Thanks!

A Vegvisir on the back shoulder! Good choice!
love your energy and attidute ! great work, keep it comming .

Really good job John! They both look nice. Take care God bless.
Awesome video. Ever thought about a shaving horse to start shaping handle? May cut down on dust
Nice little hammer John
For the July charity build you should make a dagger from a old file
Great video. Cant wait to get the hammer I ordered last week!
well made ,good effort.
great looking hammer, thanks for the video
Another great video!
Another great video man! charity build should be a war hammer
Great video Sir , I thank you again
I would really love to see you making the Roman Gladius !
You are an absolute unit
Great Video Man!
Awesome stuff. Definitely getting better ever upload.
Great forging love your hammers!
For July you should make a carpenters axe, those things are cool
Last week Alaska was in the 90’s I was dying! But still managed to forge out some knives in shorts.
Really good hammer
super informative video ! Thank you!!
When I get to the point where I can afford a fancy hammer I’ll be hitting you up. I really like the way they look.
The charred handles look good I was not a fan of them until I started watching your videos
I seriously want one
Awesome John! How about Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital for your charity build?
Great work buddy!
john can you make a 1.5 lb rounding hammer ? i would love to get 1 from you thanks awesome job they came out fantastic
Without power hammer it is pretty good job.
Charring the handles fire hardens the wood and makes it water and mold resistant to a higher degree, I fire harden all handles.
Awesome video man
Did you make your striking anvil? Also 1/4” x 2”? Thanks man I watch this video frequently 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
awesome video ..! best of luck getting more followers
Damn good video with some good knowledge.
If you don't fit the stereotypical medieval fantasy smith of the heroes village...good gods man.
That pretty impressive
What's the difference between a billet and an ingot?
Thats cool John, nice hammer! Love the built in power hammer you have, been swinging hammers almost all my life and an 8 pounder is something I very, very rarely swing as a hand hammer! As for the shirt, Im in Queensland Australia and in the heat of summer forging in shorts and thongs is common for me, yep, hot scale is HOT, but burns heal and heatstroke can kill!
Got the hammer making hammer!
Also if you don't make T shirts with your logo and "Nothin to it really" super imposed on the front I'm outta here.
I would buy one right away.
What tools are you using for the fullers.
Wow. That is impressive. "Normal hammer" we mere mortals would call that a heavy hammer.
Wow you smashed out an entire hammer in just three hours? that is amazing
I started forging about 2 months ago as a side hobby and I work without my shirt on most of the time, too damn hot!!
Nothing like a grown man in full bear mode in his yard making things from red hot steel to make you relaxed after a long day.
What is the thing called that holds the fullers?
John, any tips for where you got your guillotine tool? Or did you make it yourself?
What size round stock should I get to get a similar outcome?
How much something ike this would cost?
Only an 8# hammer? lol Love your work!
Why don’t you make a campaign styled knife
Don’t think youTube would allow me to forge shirtless.... and scale burns are bad. Charities might be “doctors without boarders”
I am in the process of making a guillotine, did you make yours or buy it? Are there any designs for making one like that?
tyler anderson I bought it. It’s from Angele Tec in Germany
What size billit did you use?
What size stock did you start with?
Nice vegvisir brother.
Interesting ink. Can't miss a skull with a beret. You serve?
American Jaeger army
Got one sitting in my etsy cart for pay day
Great work man. Love the channel. Any chance you ship to Canada lol. Would love to get one of your 2.5 pound hammers :)
Travis Brown I certainly can. Shipping to Canada usually adds a good bit though. Message me on the Instagram or fb page and we can work it out
Like the step by step instructions you only need a body microphone so we can hear you better.
I'd just about shit myself if Jon came up on me, no shirt, covered in hair, sweat and soot- and said "we're gonna start spreadin the cheeks out, Nothin' to it really"
One of the most viewed videos on your channel is the one where Oi take your shirt of.
Not saying that has anything to do with that, but....
