I recently found the ORIGINAL dress uniform of Rupert of Hentzau for sale (the one from the coronation scene). The _ONLY_ reason I didn't buy it -(actually, the reason I was able to convince my wife NOT to force me to buy it)- whatever the price was that my measurements are not the same as SIr James Mason's...
I saw this verison (1952) first but, once I viewed the 1937 one, it was no compairsion Stewart Granger was good in the role, Ronald Coleman was the better verison
I have both versions and tend to watch them back-to-back when I'm bored. I favor THIS version very much over the 37 one, even if it's an almost shot-per-shot remake of it. SIr James Mason's performance as Hentzau in 1952 makes Douglas Fairbanks Jr.'s back in 1937 pale in comparison, and we all know that "how good Hentzau is played" is *_THE_* yardstick to measure any Zenda version!
