Because of my budget system, I write down every penny spent. I have every (expected) bill listed. Using the quadrants, in 5 seconds I saw my first bill to go. Inexpensive, but no real value. Maybe it used to hold value for me, but no more. Really useful tool. Thanks and Happy New Year.
Awesome, that's what I make these videos for! I just did my year end number crunching this morning to see what I spent this year. Knowing what you spend is super valuable!
We are operating a very tight budget here but thanks to you I have made a detailed plan of how much we're gonna save every Monday of 2025 starting from tomorrow 😅
The ideas around SMART goals are great but I typically do not have a “savings” goal for the year. Savings is a measurable/track able goal but when you are off target it is not immediately obvious what is causing you to miss your goal. Is it life style creep, an unexpected expense or less overtime than expected. Instead I have a goal for total expenses each month and since my gross income is variable I have a gross income goal as well. Then I track all my expenses and income and I immediately know when there is an issue and where the problem is occurring. I also like to give myself goals that will require some effort on my part to reach. For example with expenses if I believe $19,000 a year is an achievable goal then my goal is to beat that and try to hit $17,000. With your CCC chart one thing I have found very helpful is to measure cost in terms of time rather than dollars. Using the expensive coffee and a pastry as an example you can ask yourself is it worth an hour of your life everyday to have coffee/pastry at the nice coffee shop if you are making $20 an hour.
100%. I like the SMART goals to figure out big life goals, but then break it into the smaller monthly goals like you're talking about. Working in time instead of dollars is another thing that I think is REALLY useful, especially for people who need a little motivation!

Man because of you, I’m gonna try to survive off of one check every month for the whole year of 2025
I love to hear that!!! Keep me updated on your progress, that's super cool ❤️
You can do this!! 🎉

How do you plan to waste less money this year?
No cigarettes, lower my grocery bills
I already started but plan to continue to focus on groceries. It's already made a huge difference.
"Before 30"
That's the plan!
