Honestly my two guesses for the missing legions and their primarchs would be simple. One got purged because of a gene flaw, which sanguinius is worried about happening to his own legion. The other would have been a psychic counterpart to Magnus and he’s locked on the moon. Why? Because the Null assassins need to train at the edge of the galaxy to not disrupt the astronomicon, yet the sisters of silence don’t mess with it sitting right next to Terra? No I think all their extra null power is being balanced out by a psychic primarch in chains.
The Lost primarch, the one that may be Subject XI, could/would be kept in as an emergency backup in case the emperor ever dies. Maybe this primarch never woke up, maybe his immense psychic potential was much higher than magnus, and even rivaled the emperor, so they didnt finish him... Now the custodes have him as a backup bulb, hoping they never have to replace the astronomicon because: nobody knows if Subject XI will be able to work the machine at all, and if he can, will he do it properly? will it overload? will he wither away like malcador did before the emperor can rejuvenate his body? I like to imagine this is the case. this primarch put aside as an ultimate backup. Not to lead the empire, but in the event it was ever needed, the imperium has a "all hope is lost... see if we can plug in the spare" option.

For good Iron Hands books you should read “eye of Medusa “ and “ voice of mars”. These books have exactly what you are talking about with emotional iron hands. Also read “ wrath of iron” it really showcases an iron hand struggling with the way the chapter does business and how the Iron Father guides him to get over it.

Im sure someone has already mentioned this a thousand times in the El Turbo stand alone vid but the whole 1 in 10 thing the turbonator did is called decimation and a thing the romans did back in the day.
44:39 that form of punishment is called decimation, and the Romans did it too. How it works is they would split their legion into groups of 10, randomly select on man from each group, and the other 9 men had to beat that one man to death. The Romans would do this if they failed a campaign, lost horribly, or lost their standard (the fancy pole thingy with the flags and golden eagles)
Minor corrections about the 4th, they were not mindless drones. But the humanity was kinda beaten out of them and all they felt was bitterness. Because it took so long for the Primarch to be reunited with their legion, for the longest time they were always given the worst and absolutely thankless wars to wage. And they did it. Two additional notes. Big P carried the heresy on his fucking back. Also his genius was also in his logistics. Unlike Blueberry supreme, he had reinforcements regardless of their horrific losses. Oh and lastly, speaking of losses, it was the Hrudd that finally stripped the last bit of humanity from the Legion. They didn’t win, they didn’t lose, the Hrudd simply went away. 10 years or so of warfare against a Xenos who distorts time and ultra ages their enemies within seconds and minutes? Yeah.
From beginning to end I loved watching and listening to this while I'm working nights. Never felt like it was too much, despite being 4hrs. And I sort of wish it was longer. Regarding the 2nd and 11th legions.. I know that symbolism is ubiquitous in this universe but also can be the case that people see what they want to see.. But I don't think it's mere coincidence that 2 in roman numerals is written as II and eleven in arabic numerals is 11.. Both look practically identical but whatever reference that may entail I have no idea.. Or I may just be crazy..
Also, 2+11=13. 13 is the legion # of the Ultramarines. Around the time the lost legions were purged, the Ultramarines received a massive boost in numbers. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!!!!!!!!

My opinion on Word Bearers is that it's unfortunate, but any chapter having a secret chaos priest is more interesting than a Legion of Dark priests. Don't get me wrong, the image of a legion of chaos priest marines leading divisions and armies of chaos cultists is certainly evocative. But if those priests are now a cadre of ultramarine psykers that fell and corrupted their chapter, or Wolf Priests that believe they are following the spirits of Fenris, that idea is immediately more interesting.
Nice to see Imperial Fists given more respect than most 40K lore vids, but there are still some interesting tidbits that were missed out. Firstly, they're so good at being basic Space Marines that almost every edition gives them some form of bonus with their Boltguns. Secondly, Rogal Dorn was the poor sod who discovered the Emperor and Sanguinius at the end of the Horus Heresy, and it broke him. The reason the Black Templars are such angry nutjobs is because they're the ones who joined him on his roaring rampage of revenge. The Imperial Fists are a Legion defined by the shame of not being there when they were needed, hence things like the pain glove and their focus on fortifications. If the Imperial Fists are there, that planet will not fall. Also, no mention of Lysander? The oldest, most stubborn Space Marine in the setting? He's the poster boy for "Old man too stubborn to die."
What's funny to me is the fact that all primarchs lived for so long on their home planets, then they literally get DBZ-Goku-ed but they're all just "neat, bye everyone" I guess Raditz lacked the charisma

Nice video! A good explanation of the marines, but you have to sort out your 'who' / 'whom' usage. Basically every time you say 'whom' it should be 'who'. I didn't intend to comment but it just kept happening haha. Anyway, keep up the cool videos!
Dark Angels: Mysterious, knightly/wizardly order with a sorta Grimdark Roundtable Ambiance. Love the Lion. Love the Knight shit. Love the way they organize themselves. I LOVE THEIR SUCCESSORS! I also love both their Heresy Era colours and their Calaban forest green a lot. Both pop so good. Second Legion/Eleventh Legion: Rangdan Xenocides, i feel, make the most sense. It's really up to us to fill in whatever voids are there. MALICE RULES!!! The Emperor's Children: Rose to the highest peaks of martial and social elegance, only to fall to the greatest depths of degeneracy and depravity. They didnt even take in Psykers during the Great Crusade, thats how serious they were about Perfection. The Iron Warriors: So much raw potential to be Ironclad, Emotionally In-Tune Paladins with compassion enough to care for their fellow man, but Iron enough to face down any foe. Theyre very depressing. I love their colour scheme. The White Scars: Bro Marines. Maybe not Salamanders level, but they seem like a lot of fun to talk to or fight alongside. They have a sense of humour and their bikes go VRRRROOOOM in the Emperor's name. Oh. And they LOVE Storm themed anything. Their Psykers are called Storm Seers and its rumoured no Psyker born on Chogoris has ever fallen to Chaos or blown themselves up. Their Primarch values strength in all its forms and doesnt look down on the physically weak. I love that shit. Very manly. The Space Wolves: YES DEAR JESUS TAKE ME I JUST DO NOT CARE ABOUT THESE TRANSHUMAN FURRY PERSONA MARINES!! That being said, their individual characters are hilarious. One repeating throwing a relic at their local Moon and everyone freaking out about a drunk Marine using all his strength to throw a power spear into the moon. Aand thats all i care about them. The Imperial Fists: Them Builder Boys. I feel theyre more peanut butter on toast; in which they're plain with some pizazz. I respect the Imperial Fists. They get the job done, and they'll fortify it better than before they came to help. Black Templars are phenomenal also. The Night Lords: I actually know very little about them compared to the other originals. I like the Lawful Evil Batman vibes. And Talos made me wanna believe that theres a place for them in the lore thats not just Superhuman Pirate Crew. Konrad Curze is a monster. And a psychological treasure chest. The Blood Angels: Actually one of my favorite of the Legions. They started out as these cold-raged, unfeeling monsters whose geneseed that governed the processing of information via eating actually overworks and causes a hunger for blood and flesh. They were a weapon to unleash on the Milky Way, sent far ahead of the main fleet and far from reinforcements. They came back with more Space Marines than they left with. And cleared the aliens from the planetary systems they were charged with purging. They were called The Revenant Legion by Malcador for this feat. They were extremely close to being censured or possibly wiped our for their inhumanity and bloodthirst for even their allies. AND THEN THE THING THAT SOLIDIFIED THEM FOR ME!! Sanguinius, their Primarch, kneels before them and swears fealty to them. Asking nothing of them. And hoping that he is good enough to lead them. Not worried if they are good enough to be led by him. He treated them like people. And this made them instantly idolize him. They wanted to be like him. And Sanguinius introduced the arts to them. Calmed them down. Had them work side by side as brothers with other Legions to forge these missing bonds. The Blood Angels are bonded to ritual because it bonds them to their own humanity. And they carry the burden Sanguinius' death still has on them to this day. Can you tell theyre kinda my favorite? The Iron Hands: Cyborg Marines!! So much room for growth and so few books on them! They arent all such unfeeling machines. But too many idolize the man their Primarch was, and not the man he was aiming to be. How could they know, though? The World Eaters: Oh.. you poor, angry boys. I They could have been among the most noble and compassionate Marines in the Legions. But no. Angron needed to have brain damage and then the worst brain surgery in the history of Mankind. I do like this theory that The Emperor helped Angron with his rebellion, but all his friends died and he blamed himself, so the Emperor used his power to make it so Angron would blame him rather than himself. Idk.. it would explain a lot. The Ultramarines: Theyre the vanilla, all-purpose Space Marines. Poster Boys. That being said, they're great at what they do, which is a little bit of everything. Not much else to say about them. The Deathguard: I despise the XIVth Legion. Not their aesthetic. Their tactics. Seems irradiating fertile worlds would be a No-No in The Emperor's Handbook, but NOPE! Nathanial Garrow is a true hero and I adore him. Mortarion being a gigantic Anti-Psyker, Xenophobe makes sense but only made the way he led his Legion even worse. At least World Eaters left a planet intact. If Deathguard are on the ground, theres not going to be a planet left to save. I find them horrendous and terrifying. Which is something i adore about them as a villainous faction. The Thousand Sons: Badly written Sorcerer Supremes who deserved better than their Dad gave them. Magnus tried doing the right thing all the wrong ways and refused to take responsibility for his own mistakes. They deserve much better than they got, but I love the idea of a full-on Space Marine army thats mostly Librarians. A bunch of Transhuman Sorcerers casting spells and incantations is pretty cool aesthetically.. I wasn't a fan of the Ancient Egypt theme, but i liked their original colour scheme a lot. The Sons of Horus: DIE, SONS OF THE TRAITOR!!! I like their colours, and the fact that many of their Marines are former Gangers explains a lot of the poisoning of Horus' Legion. If it wasnt Horus, it would have just been somebody else. And I completely believe that. The Word Bearers: Lorgar belongs on a list. Thay being said, i love the trope of Evil Sorcerer-Priests who are just filled to the brim with malevolence. Its just a shame how over-the-top they are written. Their colours pop nice too. The Salamandars: Certified Good Boys with an affinity for Fire. Say no more. I like em. I like their familial structure. I like that they try to give them time off. I love that the Imperium is more than just factories and buildings and planets to at least some Space Marines. Theyre a reflection of what humanity is willing to sacrifice to see brighter days. Their Psyker culture is also very fiery, as are many of their successors. The Raven Guard: If Curze is Batman, then the Raven Guard are an army of Robins. Their stealth is attributed to a subconscious psychic ability that partially removes their presence, suppresses noise they make and removes them from normal vision spectrum. Their thing is ending wars before they can become wars. They are master snipers, stealthmasters, infiltrators, and more. Their whole thing is going in and out as silently as possible. No win of theirs tends to be loud. I like that. I wish their faces looked less emo tho... The Alpha Legion: I AM ALPHARIUS!! No this is Patrick. The CIA on transhuman crack. They know your Social Insurance Number BEFORE you're born. Hell, you could just be a clone that they brainwashed to be a double agent. Are you loyal to The Emperor? Idk, maybe??? Are you loyal to Chaos? IDK, MAYBE???? Love the general fuckery of their way of doing things. I feel having an answer to them would destroy a lot of their charm though. The Hydra has many heads. Beautiful colour scheme.
Wow, just found your channel today, now before I start bindge watching this, I wanna say. You sir are extremely underrated! Also what a cool name you have 😂
Thank you very much for this. I decided to drown myself in 40k lore and stories yet again recently and your content is great. Also, as a MisterBones7, nice to meet another Mr. Bones.
Audio quality/levelling etc is cool too! I like the background music, consider making a somewhat more extended playlist for setting the vibe for your channel. As someone who DJs, hearing the same chant for hours on end behind each video gives me wrinkles in the eardrums. You're already well underway establishing your own style :D
AMAZING VIDEO. EXACTLY what I was looking for! Although tike stamps would be cool so I could easily catch up when I come back to this!❤ Also, have you done this deep a dive into the chapters of each legion? I'll look later just cant rn.
Would be cool if the two unknown primarchs had their own stories. Like they broke out of the prison on Terra and called on their original Legion survivors to come to their aid and another mini revolt happens like mini Horus hersey 2.0 story line. And many SMs from different chapters who were forced to join another Legion after their Primarch got imprisoned all revolt. Would be a insane story.
1:48:32 The marble statues, more often than not, are Roman copies of Greek bronze statues. With bronze being being a valuable material, they were often melted down to be used for weapons and armor.
These back to back comparisons are great; I like your views of Imperial Fists, Blood Angels and Ultramarines. Even if they may not go along with popular opinion. 👍
Good to see someone else on the boat of the 11th legion being the "Sons of Malice." Personally I think they were excommunicated from the imperium for their constant canibalism and freaky tribal stuff, but then at a certain point when the imperium said "aight we've had it with these crazy cannibal murderhobos" they fled into the eye of terror and were written out of the lore kind of like the fallen (up until contemporary times). I DREAM for the Sons of Malice to get a proper re-introduction (besides the mention in Fall of Cadia), but I know GW couldn't care less.
My own personal head canon is that the 11th Primarch is Malice himself. There's enough lore tid bits that have allowed me to come up with this own head canon and I have my own story for it. The Sons of Malice when they fled to the Eye of Terror rediscovered their chapter heritage in that they are descended from 11th Legion survivors so they begin to worship Malice who (in my head canon) has become a very minor chaos deity.
My favorite depiction of Word Bearers is from Shadows of the Past, where they are literally just fumbling idiots while Corvus is picking them off one by one. The conversations between them reminded me so much of the early seasons of Rooster Teeth's Red vs. Blue. They were just a bunch of fucking idiots.
Very cool. Now lets see you do every chapter.

They could have been among the most noble and compassionate Marines in the Legions.
Although tike stamps would be cool so I could easily catch up when I come back to this!❤
Also, have you done this deep a dive into the chapters of each legion? I'll look later just cant rn.
I'll miss the time we shared. 4:15:51
He did it..
He actually did it.
Good god my man! Well done!
1:48:32 The marble statues, more often than not, are Roman copies of Greek bronze statues. With bronze being being a valuable material, they were often melted down to be used for weapons and armor.
This has been great to listen to while painting. just enough facts and humor balance to keep me engaged while I paint fucking chaos trim.
Love the vid man great work
Looks like Horus being the deadest aged like fine milk. lol.
Keep up the good work.
Arthur, you should add time stamps to the start of every Legion explanation
Everyone says they hate the Word Bearers, but there would be no setting without them.
Thank you for tbe video arthur :]
I want Lion El'Johnson to break my bed
4 hours of some nerd cracking his voice and taking about nerd stuff, I love it
Watched the whole thing while bending guitar string around my custom Iron Warriors cultists
These back to back comparisons are great; I like your views of Imperial Fists, Blood Angels and Ultramarines.
Even if they may not go along with popular opinion. 👍
Nah Blood Angels are kings. Sanguinius is the fucking Chad brother
@@juleskonst7406 love that they slap in melee but I’m just not into the lore. And I hate painting red 😂 Vallejo did not do a good job until recently.
"If you take out the necessities of life and meet the needs of a person they will pursue creative endeavors" HAVE YOU MET PEOPLE?
When I have a 4-5 hr drive. This is the kinda stuff I need
Very cool, Now lets see you do all forgeworlds.
Im also a big fan of ambient music. Nice to see you using Caretaker.
3:43:23 What are you talking about? They're absolutely everywhere by our creeks. We dont think of mythical dragons what are you on
You should’ve called the fulgrim clone halfgrim……..!
Awesome video :D perfekt for while I paint.
Love how ya can tell what part of the edition each section was made in xD
