For the first 8 years of his life David didn’t know Jimmy was his dad. Jimmy thought he wasn’t capable of being a good dad because he had an abusive childhood . So now they have a very special bond . So now Andrei you can get even more emotional! ❤️❤️😊
Don't be ashamed to shed a tear. When I see a Father interact with his kids and show affection as Jimmy did planting a peck on David's cheek, it brings a tear to my eyes as well. There is no shame in showing emotion. By the way, I loved your reaction to this Father and Son duo who are Aussie icons in their own right.
Andre, your reaction was both beautiful & just. ''You will never walk alone'' is a very powerful & emotional song, no need to apologise for your genuine feelings & reaction Thank you to your beautiful responses....I also cried!
David is our own Michael Buble, he's a crooner and so good! We are, as a nation, so proud of the Barnes Family, all of them are exceptional singers and we are lucky that they are our little secret lol
Don’t stop doing reactions, I cried at the same time. It’s a beautiful moment. I just lost my father so watching videos like you’re is comforting to me
I'm not crying, you are. 😢😢😢 Thank you for such an honest, natural reaction. I was tearing up at the opening chords, because this song, written by Rogers and Hammerstein for their musical Carousel, is a moving story of hope in adversity and has a rich history. It was recorded by many of music's greats, and was adopted by the Liverpool Football Club as its anthem. David Campbell is a singer, actor, TV presenter and director in his own right. His singing career leaned more to the Musical Theatre genre. I saw his live show years ago, and it was fantastic - he's as talented and versatile as his dad.

No it wasn't - sorry. The song was written by Rogers & Hammerstein for the 1945 Broadway musical Carousel & sung twice in the play be 2 separate female cast members - same as the 1956 film version & every stage production of the play & cast recording including the 1950 West End revival - Gerry & the Pacemakers released their COVER version in 1963
What a beautiful reaction guys 💞 This is also who Jimmy is....God bless him....he puts every thing into his music and you can feel as well as see his pride and love for his son. Loved this
Only the hardest granite rock would not be moved by this incredible song, and the raw emotion of father and son singing it is simply incredible. It has been covered by many great singers, but I think this duet might be the very best because it conveys so much meaning through their father son dynamic.
This song evokes strong emotions as well as tender memories…Andrei don’t be ashamed of showing your feelings…you are after all human as are we all…thank you for this reaction ☺️
David Campbell made his name as a big band singer in the USA. He now hosts a talk show in Australia and regularly appears in musical theatre. David and Jimmy have very similar mannerisms. I love seeing the emotion that music can create...that is its power...no need to be sorry for that.
He's also.worked in musical theatre in the west end :) definitely got dad's music genes. And the song is from the Rogers & Hammerstein musical 'carousel'
Andrei, no need to apologise for genuine emotions. That song, sung by father and son, will draw to the surface any emotions which are in need of airing. Thank you for the song, as well as your responses to it. And I am currently reading "Working Class Boy", by Jimmy Barnes. It's a miracle he made it into adulthood.
Yes God Bless Our Jimmy, having caught COVID and then the passing of his sister and then his mother -in- law and then a very dear friend who was a huge influence with Mushroom Records. It has been a very tough time for Jimmy but being the man he is he has lifted himself up again and continues to perform. This was lovely to see Jimmy and his son David perform together, something they try to do often when they can. Ty for your reactions and your love of our music. Keep Safe Keep Strong 🦘🦘🦘🦘🎶🎶🎶🎶
There is a fascinating story behind Jimmy and his son David. David grew up thinking that his father was just a friend of the family and that his mother was his sister. It wasn’t easy for either of them when the truth came out and there was a lot of healing and therapy to go through to get to the point that they’re now at. I’ve sent this link today to David Campbell. Fingers crossed he sees this as I know he will love it. I heard that he absolutely loved @ThatSingerReacts reaction to it, and this one here is just so beautiful and touching!!
David is more known in Australia for Musical Theatre and as a TV host in a talk show Thanks for giving the Aussies a listen John Farnham and Jimmy Barns are great together both Iconic singers here and have some great concert Video’s Great reaction emotion is never wrong music has the power to do that when you connect to it
David only got to really know his dad in his teen years and he has his own career, but their family is so close and they all come together for sing a longs.
Well done guys. Some times ballads are ones cup of tea. They evoke emotions, and allow time to contemplate. I understand why Andrei felt raw. Remembering his dad and the memories of times past will do that. I know this from experience. 😢
Guys this was beautiful thank you soo much. I know it is not Dominica’s preferred style of Jimmy but let me tell you why it is special- David did not know Jimmy was his father until he was 10. They had a very rocky start to their relationship and this song shows they have managed to form a very special bond. Also, this is a Christmas concert so it’s all about family.. David is a popular talk show host here but he has a very admirable singing career too. His voice is beautiful. Once again thank you so much just a beautiful reaction xxx
Maybe we should link them to some of the Barnes at home videos Dr_Kap ? Some have David in them...others have most of the kids... I'm sure they would like to see them. Thankyou for recommending this one... it is always a teary ride for a lot of us
David is a perfect reflection of his father. Looks and sounds identical to him in every way. One has to remember Jimmy didn't use to sound like he does now. He sounded exactly like David does in this video. But over the years he did damage his voice with alcohol, it gave him that gravely voice he is now famous and well known for. This was done Christmas Eve at the massive event they hold every year, some 100 years or so i think it has run for at the Sydney Myer Music Bowl. That year it was Jimmy and David's turn to sing together their chosen Christmas Carol. You should also check out Jimmy's daughter Mahalia Barnes. They also sing together and it is absolute magic. Singing runs in their blood through and through.
Andre and Dominica, you guys are beautiful. i had to replay the last minute of the video. Like you my eyes weld up and that I couldn't see the screen. Most Aussie's are aware of the relationship between Jimmy Barnes and his son David, so I'm sure there were many watery eye's watching this video. Please keep doing what you do xxx
Love from south Australia I get emotional as well so it proves us men are in touch with our mines haha.. and it shows you really love the women but i won't tell anyone ok bro,,,good work you to really enjoy your videos
Thank you for this one Domenica and Andrei - Jimmy and his family do a heap of videos/songs from their house.. David is often there with the rest of the Barnes children/family... Andrei - never apologise for feeling something within the music/lyrics/performance.... the fact that you guys are so genuine is one of the reasons that I (and I'm sure many many of your other viewers) subscribed to your channel..... Don't ever change... what you guys are doing is literally perfect... Much love to you both from the land downunder... 🇦🇺 🐨🦘
A perfect reaction to a perfect song. I've watched this one many times and remember watching it live on TV, and I still tear up. Thank you for sharing. Love from Australia.
Andrei, my hubby is a big tough man and he tears up at things like this too. It just means you’re a good man with a big heart… but we already knew that. ❤️ Jimmy was only 16 years old when he accidentally fathered David. Jimmy and David’s Mum didn’t love each other but they were lonely kids who used to get together sometimes to push away the loneliness and pain. Initially, David’s maternal grandmother told Jimmy and David’s mother that David would have to be adopted out but then she kept the baby for herself and Jimmy and David’s mother were instructed they were not allowed to tell him of his true parentage. Jimmy did used to visit David as often as he could but he was told to pretend that he was just a family friend. When David was ten years old, Jimmy’s wife, Jane wanted Jimmy to be able to be more involved in his son’s life so she began conversations with the grandmother and achieved her telling David the truth about his parentage and achieved David being able to come and stay at their place for visits so he could be a real part of their family. Jimmy, David, and Jane and the rest of their kids now have a very special bond. ❤️ PS you’ve only scratched the surface of the Barnes family musical talent. There’s more to discover down this rabbit hole. 🙂 For example, here’s Jimmy’s brother John Swan (aka Swanee) th-cam.com/video/v7ktVbzVnag/w-d-xo.html
I have been hoping that you would do a reaction to this, it not only shows that Jimmy can do justice to just about anything he sings but what a decent human being he is. I am 68 and was never a Jimmy fan until about a year ago when I first saw a reaction to him on TH-cam and now can not get enough of his music. The entire family is talented you should react to some of his daughters videos. I have seen this video so many times and I still get a tear or two in the eye by the end.
That was amazing and I loved your emotional reaction. I felt the same and I've seen it many times before Jimmy is a real family man. He is so proud of all his kid's who by the way are all musical and extremly talented. His family including his kids, wife, sister in law, brother in law various freinds, grand children neices and nephews ...spent just about every single day of covid lock down streaming live videos to us all to keep us entertai ed during those dark times. so we all have a very soft spot for him and his talented family. It's not often we get to see Jimmy singing straight up with out all the grit and gravel and this song was one of those times. David voice is so similar to Jimmys straight voice. Beautiful.
I have seen this youtube clip so many times, and I knew what was coming, so I watched your faces and was delighted to see you both reacted the same way I do. Even after seeing it so often the emotions are still there every time. The song is from an old musical Carousel but was also used by one of the English Soccer teams as their theme song
Great music is an emotional experience, it's what attracts us to the song, the ability to connect with it with our souls. Really showing your emotions is the greatest respect you can pay to both the song and the performance itself. Never apologize for connecting to music with your soul, that's a wonderful thing!
Mate, I'm six foot four inches, built like a brick sh!thouse and consider myself to be a fairly robust and manly man. And I'll readily admit to being emotionally moved by this video. I'll own my emotions and would like to let you know that you shouldn't be embarrassed to be vulnerable occasionally. Jimmy and David have demonstrated the underlying truth in their relationship for all to see. As a father and son it can be difficult to be always "best mates" or see eye to eye. But the song tells that despite whatever comes they have got each other's back and will support each other. It's a beautiful song really and many people are moved to tears when they hear it for its simple and earnest message. Others can be reminded of the relationship they wish they had with others. But every listener walks away feeling something from hearing it.
That was a beautiful reaction. Never apologise for feeling how special that moment was. Jimmy & David have been through so much, as only families can. This performance was truly heartwarming. Well done☺️✌🏼
Ahh! I am so glad you reacted to this one, I've been waiting for someone to react to this. Their voices blend beautifully. That is a genuine reaction, and I do that every time I hear this rendition. Thanks.👌🤗
Well that was just a big bunch of feel-good! I've always loved that song, but with Jimmy and David duetting it... well there's something just that little bit extra special about family performing together. Can't wait for you to discover the goodness that is the Bull sisters - Vika and Linda.
As said before this song is from the musical Carousel, main character is deceased but given one day to visit earth to see his daughter who is going astray in her life. Thid is yhe final song. It has been adopted as anthem for Liverpool FC and brings powerful emotions when played as tribute to a footballing disaster where many fans lost their lives. Also in memory of the lives lost to the Grenfell Tower disaster. Thank you for this beautiful rendition and never apologise for showing you are human. Music can do that to you.
This song is from the musical, 'Carousel". It was made more famous by the band, 'Gerry and the Pacemakers' in the 1960s. David Campbell sings a different style of music to his father, Jimmy Barnes. David was brought up my his grandmother who he was led to believe was his mother. This lady loved and played music from the 50s and early 60s in the home, perhaps called cabaret or swooner music? and David loved it too, and made his career in singing mostly in this style which suits his voice beautifully. I believe all of the Jimmy Barnes children are musically orientated. Mahalia sings, too and Jackie plays the drums. This video was taken from a Christmas Eve concert at the Myer Music Bowl in a park in Melbourne, Oz. It is a yearly televised charity concert and tradition and many famous Aussie artists perform for it. It has a huge choir and a symphony orchestra. I have watched this concert every year since I was young and 'tune in' to my parents, now deceased, who loved it, while doing so.
David used to sing in a lil shop in queanbeyan at the start off his singing career and he can actually sing just like his dad but as you said was influenced other ways, he also sang on broadway for a long time very talented most talented off his kids imo
@@GrandpaOCE Yes, I was trying to think of the correct name for his 'musical theatre' singing. I heard David sing in Jimmy's style and didn't like it and hoped that he would continue on at the one he is known for which is better suited to his personality.
There was a rift between them for a long time. David went to the USA and made his name doing the cabaret circuit before coming back to Australia and becoming known here in musical theatre and television. What a beautiful reaction from both of you 🥰
Jimmy's children regularly accompany him. They are David Campbell, Mahalia Barnes, Elly-May Barnes, Jackie Barnes and E J Barnes. The four Barnes children formed a group called The Tin Lids, when they were very young. David Campbell is also a television host, and has done theatre.
Love your reactions guys. Now you've seen father and son, maybe go further and look for ' daughter ' ( Mahalia), and father ( Jimmy).... Over to you, beautiful couple 🌺
David Campbell had quite the career in the US before returning to Australia. He's every bit as good, if different, from his Dad. He also has a half sister, Mahalia Barnes, who is AMAZING. Talent flows out of the family. You too are so sweet together!
Never apologise or feel embarassed at being moved by music or this song inparticular, those lyrics are both evocative and stirring. It has been adopted by Liverpool F.C. in England's Soccer league and there are several TH-cam clips of whole stadiums of fans singing it (Even one from when Liverpool F.C. visited Ausralia and the world famous M.C.G.) As to the magic in this father and son moment? I run a mobile karaoke business and my kids are now old enough to tag along and help and there is no greater feeling for me than sharing a stage with my kids!
Thank you for your beautiful reaction ❤. I would love to hear what you think of Jimmy & David's cover version of "Reflections of my Life" which they performed during the Working Class Boy show. Not a dry eye in the theatre 😭
Hi Guys. the reason i donate to you is because of this. The reason im still alive if because of a jimmy song (No Sercond prize). Gave me hope . 52 yo and happy with two annoying boys(loves of my life)
If you want a powerhouse performance check out Walking up the Road which Jimmy performs with his daughter Mahalia Barnes, a wonderful singer who takes more after Jimmy and was a back up singer for the great Joe Bonamassa who showcased her talents when she sang a duet with him called Riding with the Kings.
The title of this song is written in wrought iron on the gates to the entrance to Anfield, the home of Liverpool FC. It's the club's anthem. It's actually a universal anthem for UK football clubs but to be fair, it's really Liverpool's.
David didn’t know that was his Father until he was 15. Not sure if Jimmy knew. Jimmy went home to Scotland for awhile. In that time David made a great career on his own. More in musical theatre and now in TV. David did this with his Father to help him come back to singing.
He found out when he was 10. David says he was more shocked/shaken by finding out about his mother than his father. Good to see everyone so close now after all these years.
The quality is not great because it is an outdoor ampitheatre. When the wind blows in the wrong direction you can't hear much It is the worse venue for a concert but it fits lots of people. That aside this is so beautiful.

I cried too at the end.
This song became a hit for Gerry and the Pacemakers in the 60's. This sung before every Liverpool game.

That sums it up perfectly
I agree with you MerchantOFAlba. When Jimmy kissed David I also had that Ahhh! moment. I found it perfect,
That was a beautiful reaction.
Thanks.👌🤗
I love you two, perfect reaction you made me tear up too. I listen to this everytime I get in my car. ❤️❤️🇦🇺🇦🇺
Beautiful reaction
Beautiful song, of course you cried, who wouldn't??
@@barnowl5774 yes its a shame he doesn't sing as much as he used to he has some great cd's out
@@GrandpaOCE I mainly hear David Campbell as a DJ on radio for Smooth FM.
Never apologise big man there is nothing wrong with that thank the both of you for your reactions
Love your reactions guys. Now you've seen father and son, maybe go further and look for ' daughter ' ( Mahalia), and father ( Jimmy).... Over to you, beautiful couple 🌺
I believe this was from Carols by Candlelight at the Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne.
After you both do “wild thing” next🙏🙏🤣 I would recommend you do jimmy and David doing ‘you’ve lost that loving feeling’
Hell yeah .... WILD THING
David Campbell had quite the career in the US before returning to Australia. He's every bit as good, if different, from his Dad. He also has a half sister, Mahalia Barnes, who is AMAZING. Talent flows out of the family. You too are so sweet together!
This song was originally from the musical 'Carousel; has been adopted by Liverpool Football Club asit's anthem.
This song is from the 1945 Rogers and Hammerstein Broadway musical Carousel, but became a hit in 1963 when released by Gerry and The Pacemakers.
you guys should check out screaming Jimmy song called Lay Down your guns..featuring The Living End [Aussie Band] you will enjoy it
Never apologise or feel embarassed at being moved by music or this song inparticular, those lyrics are both evocative and stirring. It has been adopted by Liverpool F.C. in England's Soccer league and there are several TH-cam clips of whole stadiums of fans singing it (Even one from when Liverpool F.C. visited Ausralia and the world famous M.C.G.)
As to the magic in this father and son moment? I run a mobile karaoke business and my kids are now old enough to tag along and help and there is no greater feeling for me than sharing a stage with my kids!
Thank you for your beautiful reaction ❤. I would love to hear what you think of Jimmy & David's cover version of "Reflections of my Life" which they performed during the Working Class Boy show. Not a dry eye in the theatre 😭
Hi Guys. the reason i donate to you is because of this. The reason im still alive if because of a jimmy song (No Sercond prize). Gave me hope . 52 yo and happy with two annoying boys(loves of my life)
Thank you for your donation and kind words. Glad you enjoy our videos! All the best! 😊
"You'll Never Walk Alone" is a show tune from the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel.
Good to see everyone so close now after all these years.
this is the song of the Liverpool football team from England
When David was a young man he didn't even know Jimmy was his father, he found out later in life
Found out when he was 10
The quality is not great because it is an outdoor ampitheatre. When the wind blows in the wrong direction you can't hear much It is the worse venue for a concert but it fits lots of people. That aside this is so beautiful.
Look up David Campbell Australian. He has a great body of work
I loved your reactions. That kiss at the end was because David wasn't sure he could hold that high note. Boy did he hold it.
There's also a video of Farnsey doing this track.... might be worth a look for you when your list gets shorter !

Chisel. Check out 'Wild Thing'.
You love one 2:09 another

Can you do a reaction for HammerFall - Brotherhood or Hero's Return
Liverpool FC theme song
Yes it is
There’s nothing wrong with you. It’s moving to see Jimmy and David sing together. I think David was controlling his feelings to singing with his dad.
"sam and dave " .....how bout " Jim and Dave " !!
I think Jimmy had to sing like David cos David couldnt sing like Jimmy. But nice.
that's the worst version ever, they strangled it.
