I find it kind of impressive that the English localizers hired a person for Noah whose timbre and presence sounds similar to that of the Japanese counterpart - sometimes that doesn't seem to be the case, at all. And while it could be a coincidence, it sounds to me as though Harry McEntire really studied the Japanese VA's work, extensively, and tried to channel it into his own - particularly with "Evil Noah". Either way, I think Harry knocked it out of the park and is perhaps, lowkey, the best that the English VA department has chosen for a XBC lead, maybe even nudging out Howden (it's very close, regardless.)
When you put scenes with their respective VAs side by side their voices just meld together so beautifully, it's amazing.
Hrm, they actually animated the mouths to move differently based on the language. Nice attention to detail.
Some cutscenes rendered in game (like these) have lip flaps match the voices, unfortunately in more detailed cutscenes the JP dub seems to be the priority
I've heard that they developed a system to automatically sync the animations to the voice clips, a very cool piece of technology that now can be used in anything else Monolith works on in the future (cough Tears of the Kingdom cough)
i couldn't blame him dude he just really loved Mio
Well his love for Mio had became obsession and even after they are reunited as moebius ,he was already changed to another person or became psycopath and that is sadded Mio ,until their new cycle noah really let her go for good in the end.
Both Harry and Adam are the best Xenoblade protagonists in their roles as Shulk and Noah for their characters, be it either good 😇 or evil 😈
they both deserve awards for this game man
I think Noah is the only character where I actually enjoy the English VA more
N really loved Mio a little too much XD
The armu scene would be cute to see along with the where do babies come from scene
Forget N , people actually PLAYED as stalker ?
Coming from someone that usually prefers English subbed JP dub.
English VA here is just better. Cant deny it. He IS this character. Its flawless
This comparison made me realize they spelled desserts wrong, makes sense there’s be spelling mistakes though, lots of text to translate
I always thought it was desserts as well. But as someone pointed out in a comment for a let's play for another game that used it, just deserts, with one s, is the proper spelling for the phrase meaning "the punishment that one deserves." Which shocked me because I've seen it spelled just desserts so many times.
Oh god i came here after chapter 6 because i thought it eould be that cutscene, I'm dumb
N and Noah represent the two paths every man can travel. The incel and the chad. But, even if you fall to the path of incel, you still can become chad.
What's kind of ironic is that, once everything unravels, Chad Noah's inner motivations and deep insecurities are more aligned with those of the Virgin.
@@AndyWitmyer That just shows that even the chaddest of chads are still just like us.
@@thedookiedropper9604 yet he's willing to murder his future selfs for daring not to be an incel. M literally suicided because N wasn't able to realize that what N wanted wasn't what M wanted.
N: Mio? (GASPS) Mio! Mio!! MIIOO!!!!
I love to hear N Japanese voices, it’s way better than English version
People will call me out for this but
Dub Actors: Reading the script
Sub Actors: Playing and Acting the characters.
Yeh 100%, I think a lot of the meaning is taken away from the scene with the English Dub because the performances just aren’t as good as Japanese
Nothing weeaboo or mentally wrong about calling out bad dubs especially Xenoblade games have. Give it to dubbing studio behind fire emblem series and you will get good voice acting.

I'm sorry, but as someone who has studied a lot of voice acted material...uhh...
There's no nice way to say this, but if you genuinely think this is BAD acting, what that tells me is that...you don't have a good eye for acting.
Acting is more than just whoever's the most over-the-top in their delivery. It's about the subtlety. The emotions. The underlying feelings of the character.
You say Harry McEntire is just reading the script, but that just ISN'T true. He's shown many times in this dub that he understands and BECOMES Noah.
Also...you can't say that the Japanese acting is better when you don't know Japanese. You can make a guess that maybe it's delivered, but to say that you know FOR SURE that the English is GARBAGE in comparison isn't a good critique. Not knowing what the characters are actually saying hurts your understanding of them and leads you to reading the surface level emotion the JP actors put on. It's like the JP actors actually saying "I'm slightly bummed" in an extremely dramatic and gut-wrenching tone that does not at ALL fit, and you call that good acting because "Oh they were louder than the English dub :>"

also, If you would like to see any specific comparisons in the world of xenoblade please let me know in the comments!
If you can think of any characters that have highly emotional moments in the story, those are always good ideas. For example, Mio during Chapter 4 or Shannia at the climax during Chapters 5/6.
Fiona's encounter with the Moebius and their exchange pre-battle and after-battle. This one struck a chord within me due to the superior Japanese VA's work in getting me to cry compared to the unconvincing act from the English VA.
@@simp4hololive seen many streams brought to tears by English va there... seems it's a you thing? myself included.
