My kid brother, Kenneth loved this song. He went to be with the Lord on November 19, 2023. I miss him so much, and tears roll down my eyes whenever I hear this song.
The man I loved sang this song to me. He was a wonderful guitarist. He played and sang the song to me at the beginning of our relationship. The words, and his singing... it was a beautiful moment that I will never forget. His gift to me and one of my very best memories.
Lyrics: It's late in the evening; she's wondering what clothes to wear. She'll put on her make-up and brushes her long blonde hair. And then she asks me, "Do I look all right?" And I say, "Yes, you look wonderful tonight." We go to a party and everyone turns to see This beautiful lady that's walking around with me. And then she asks me, "Do you feel all right?" And I say, "Yes, I feel wonderful tonight." I feel wonderful because I see The love light in your eyes. And the wonder of it all Is that you just don't realize how much I love you. It's time to go home now and I've got an aching head, So I give her the car keys and she helps me to bed. And then I tell her, as I turn out the light, I say, "My darling, you were wonderful tonight. Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight."

This was my parents wedding song. My dad passed away last year in October and I cry hearing this song, thinking of all the beautiful memories I have of my parents dancing to it as I was growing up and even as an adult. I was very blessed that way in my childhood.
Same. My parents wedding song. My father was diagnosed with glioblastoma last year, I come back to this song to remember how blessed I was for them. For everything they showed me and the love they have for one another. I'm sorry for your loss, keep the memories burning and one day maybe we will both feel wonderful again. Peace from NY.
Same here. This was my parents' wedding song. I lost my Dad recently, missing him every day. Sending lots of love n prayers to all those who feel the same. Such a beautiful song. ❤💙
Have you seen the time when Eric sang this with Dire straits at the end of the Nelson Manela concert..still makes the hairs on my the back of neck stand up when I watch it ....
To that special person who was meant for me, the simplicity of the mundane moments that we were meant to have. How wonderful would it have been to share a lifetime of simple moments that so many others take for granted.
To those who all mourn with this song: Stay strong while you are here. You are loved on Earth still. Make the most of your time here, and you will rejoin your loved ones in paradise. Embrace and share your happy memories. God bless you all, love all of you 🙏 ♥️
I'm 39 and just heard this song for the first time over the summer and I've probably listened to it a thousand times, and it just really depresses me the steep steep decline of music in the last 30 40 years. It just makes me sick. This song is a masterpiece
It sure is tough Bud , because our mothers are the ones that's supposed to cover us with the blanket warmth, that which is what every new starting soul needs and the beginning of a great person; I'm sure she was wonderful woman and your hero. Sohonor her in this way that you may bless her every time in doing so; be a Godly man for you know what she would advice you if she had the opportunity 👍🏼. Do you know that she knows that no one can love you more than GOD? I
Before my husband passed he would play this song n we would hold each other tight n slow dance and always brag n tell everyone how much he in love me..those words will never leave me..
Before my wife was my world we stopped and played this song on a back country road under the moonlight...10 yrs later we still do it...and we'll do it til we can't..I love you Ashley Grangier!!
Sometimes you break up with someone just to find out later that you cannot live without her. Now she already moved on. She looked wonderful that night.

Agreed. Clapton has written some of the most iconic songs and riffs of our lifetime. I bet people who don't even know Layla would still recognise the intro. They might not know what song it is but the second you go "dudululuuuuuhdudududu" 😂 they immediately go "oh yeah, I've heard that" Wonderful Tonight can also be played really easily on acoustic guitar if you just strum it, which is the only way I can play. I'm never gonna be like my dad who is a fantastic blues guitarist, hence me being named Melody, but I only play for myself so I don't really care. I love playing this song and singing it.
He lost his son the same year we lost my little sister. , she was only 4 months old, I still think about her often... my dad loved Eric, tears in heaven was his favorite song ever. Mv
My wife and I love this song.I can't sing but sing this to her all the time.No matter where we are when it comes on the radio we dance to it.Comes on our vehicle radio we pull over and dance. Shopping and it comes on we hunt each other down and dance. We were in a store one day it came on and we found each other & started dancing. A woman looked and I said "That's our song and no matter where we are we find each other and dance".She said "Oh that is so nice I think I'm going to cry" as tears rolled down her cheeks.
This was my moms favorite song. We lost on her on the 17th of this month just buried the 23rd. This song will always be In my heart and take on a whole new meaning now❤️
Many people in the comments say that this makes them think of someone special. In my case, there is no one, but I don't see this as sad song. Rather, it makes me happy that so many others are able to feel that way, and I imagine that it must be like. This makes me smile :).
I’m a man in my 40s, a bit too old to find a partner, but every once in a while I put on this song and fantasize about slow dancing with my future wife… pure joy, even if it’s only in my head.
This was my parents' song. The story of how this became their song was funny but memorable. Back in the 80s, my parents were in high school or in their 20s and this song came on the radio and my dad fell in love with the song that he thought of my mom. So one day when this song came on, he played this for her and the part when the lyrics says "brushing her long blonde hair" my mom gave my dad the look about "Do I look like I have blonde hair?" My mom had dark brown hair and my dad plays this for her. But he explained it to her the rest of the song reminds him of her. So then on, this became their song. Now hearing this makes my mom sad because my dad is no longer with us and when this song plays, he thinks of him that day.
It's been 2 years since my best friend left me . We danced a slow dance at 5am with this song. And that's the last time I saw him. Still crying, and dancing alone the same day every year.
I've loved this song since I was really little - I'm 51 now and it reminds me of my ex husband who I was with for 16 years, broke up in 2004. Real LOVE never fades away just like true love :) for all u couples out there who love this song be romantic as long as you can! !
This song is a poignant reminder of all the joy and pain that I've experienced in my life. With every note, it stabs at my heart and dredges up a well of raw emotions that I thought I had buried deep within me. I remember the first time my ex and I danced to this song; our bodies entwined, lost in each other's embrace. It was a moment of pure ecstasy that I thought would last a lifetime. But alas, all good things must come to an end. Our relationship was fraught with distance and unmet expectations. I ultimately had to summon all of my courage and end it, even though I still loved her with all my heart. For years, I clung to the belief that our love was strong enough to overcome any obstacle. But the truth is, we were just two people with different priorities and aspirations. Now, every time I hear this song, it's a visceral reminder of the pain and heartbreak that I had to endure. Sometimes, I wonder if she ever thinks of me when she hears these hauntingly beautiful notes. Does she feel the same emptiness and longing that I do? Or has she moved on to someone else who can fulfill her dreams? The only thing I know for sure is that this song will always be a bittersweet reminder of the life that I once had, and the love that I lost.
i, too, have that "one that got away", he contacted me after not seeing me for 25 years! Wrote me the love letter every woman dreams of receiving. But, unfortunately he is a VERY married man. And, even for him, my first and true love, I don't do married. I hear certain songs and, like you, it brings me right back. Especially Adele's "When We Were Young" Blessings...
On our second date, my husband played this song, pulled over on the side of the road and got me out and danced with me. We have now been married for 31 years. He still plays this song for me to this day. I love you honey.
This song fills my heart with so much joy, joy that brings tears to my eyes, even to weeping. I think of the many times I get all dolled up for the evening, but still not feeling beautiful with that strong confidence. And then someones, complete strangers, would stop me and tell me that I look beautiful and wonderful. Those comments: "stunning"; "you are beautiful"; "you are so sexy" "beautiful", etc. And then, my heart would be lit up, the fire ignited, and confidence and magic and an internal transformation would rule the entire night through to the wee hours of the morning!
I walked down the aisle to my hubby with this song. Brings back all the butterflies and nervous feelings I had when I first walked out in front of everyone lol. 11-11-2017 I love you Justin! 😘
This is my wife and I's wedding song! May 19th 2007. This year will be 17 years since we've been together and still wouldn't want to be anywhere else but with Her!

@@chainchompDX I have gone through a family loss. It definitely hurts. Of course I have internet trolls and stalkers out there watching me even three years after, but when I listen to this music, I realize they don't matter. They'll possibly never be in the same mindset of a young old soul, and it makes me feel grateful for living. It's all about life, expanding the mind, and learning to be the best person! Classic rock music like this definitely helped me realize I was smarter and creative of my own mind than I expect. May God bless you good person.
To be with my wife for almost 30 yrs. I now know what Love is. Does she look the same as the day I met her, No. Do I care No. To me she is even more Beautiful. I can't imgaine life without her and pray I will never find that out. Every time I hear this song I think of her. I regret not showing her how much I Love and need her earlier in our marriage. Thankfully she stuck around. I'm the luckiest person I know. Love you Tanya.
Wow, more than outstanding. I am in a trance every single time I hear it!! Is there really even that kind of love still amongst us?? I will think positive! Wish this Clint"Guy" luck!!!
For my husband Tom who passed away 6,5 years ago. We listened to it so many times. I don't know if I miss him, he's part of me. Always around. So we still listen to it together I guess......
I danced with my dad to this song at a wedding when I was a child. He let me put my feet on his. It’s always been hard to hear this song. He passed when I was 18. My boyfriend is a musician and learned to play this just for me.
During my parent's 25th anniversary they were playing their wedding album. It is full of great songs like this one. It may be a bit weird to be so nostalgic and attached to the time period but I sure do love it.
This song is very special to my heart! My boyfriend whom I met on my 18th birthday loved this song. It became our favorite song the whole time we were dating. He broke up with me and I cried for so many years. When I hear this song tears still flow down my face. I was so inlove with him. Took me a long time to move on. When I hear this song l can see his beautiful blue eyes looking at me. They were blue as the sky!! I still think of those eyes everytime I hear this beautiful song! He bought me the 8 track of Eric Clapton and we always listened to it on our date nights. A part of me still loves him!! Even though he broke my heart!! I had other boyfriends after him but they didn't make me feel the way he did. I still think of him after 45 years. I'm still great friends with both his sisters. I will always love and think of you!!
To sit back with a glass of wine and reminiscing mentally of the ex wife through the grieving process was hard, this song saw tears fall and hearts ache. Blessed too have gone through my grieving. Love yourself.
My ex lover and best friend (we became best friends after the "lover" part was over for about 5 years) was "called home" on April 27, 2020. Not the Virus. Natural causes. I miss him each and every day. Every Sat. we would go for dinner, a movie, and ice cream. The pain is so real. I could not attend his service either. Pandemic. My prayers are with you.
This song is also Chandler and Monica's from Friends; back when I was a little boy, that was one of the first examples I had of true love, which I carry on every single day with me.
One of my all time favorite songs, however it has taken me 39 years to listen again to it. This is the (I'm not a head case)it always reminds me of the Love of My Life! Oh well! GREAT SONG!!

This beautiful lady that's walking around with me.
And then she asks me, "Do you feel all right?"
And I say, "Yes, I feel wonderful tonight."
I feel wonderful because I see
The love light in your eyes.
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don't realize how much I love you.
It's time to go home now and I've got an aching head,
So I give her the car keys and she helps me to bed.
And then I tell her, as I turn out the light,
I say, "My darling, you were wonderful tonight.
Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight."
Thank you! Thank you! 🙏😁👍
I remember dancing to this song with my husband .he past away it will be 2 years february 17 2023. We were married 40 yrs..i miss him so much .this song makes me cry every time i hear it..
This was my parents wedding song. My dad passed away last year in October and I cry hearing this song, thinking of all the beautiful memories I have of my parents dancing to it as I was growing up and even as an adult. I was very blessed that way in my childhood.
So sorry for your loss

That's what I like to hear!
what a beautiful memory, may you and your love be happy forever
To that special person who was meant for me, the simplicity of the mundane moments that we were meant to have. How wonderful would it have been to share a lifetime of simple moments that so many others take for granted.
Hope they see your comment & know its frm u. That's sweet

They are robbing humanity of our soul and love connection. It is beyond tragic 💔 😪
Good and bad music in every era, including the era when this song came out...
This is one of the most touching songs ever preformed. Pure love. It’s beautiful.
In my young teenage years I thought this was a romantic song was supposed to sound like. All these years later and I'm still right. Great song
I lost my mom 6yrs. She loved Eric Clapton and I can remember being in the car and she would sing this.....and I cry every time. I miss her so much.
It sure is tough Bud , because our mothers are the ones that's supposed to cover us with the blanket warmth, that which is what every new starting soul needs and the beginning of a great person; I'm sure she was wonderful woman and your hero. One of the most iconic and genius guitar riffs of all time, enough said
yes and the lyrical melody is very good, try whistling it, you will see
Love light in your eyes. There was an old song by irish band the fureys. The love light in your eye
Sweet sixteen. Lovely song

My Mother, mama Greybull.. Rest easy. 💜
Timeless, beautiful song. Sends chills down my spine. Makes me think of my friend, Mac.
This kind of music is a blessing for humanity.
Had a Golden Retriever for 14 years. We had to put her down and this was the song we played in our last moment with her. That day was all about her
God this reminds me of my mom...I can't help but cry every time I hear this

Many people in the comments say that this makes them think of someone special. In my case, there is no one, but I don't see this as sad song. Rather, it makes me happy that so many others are able to feel that way, and I imagine that it must be like. This makes me smile :).

I’m a man in my 40s, a bit too old to find a partner, but every once in a while I put on this song and fantasize about slow dancing with my future wife… pure joy, even if it’s only in my head.

@@Koru_047 It is not easy but worth the effort, my friend!!!
Too old? Why?
Will never stop loving this song! So beautiful!
It's been 2 years since my best friend left me . We danced a slow dance at 5am with this song. And that's the last time I saw him. Still crying, and dancing alone the same day every year.
We loved each other and just didn't manage to confess.
I'm sorry for your loss! This is the last song my husband and I danced to b4 he unexpectedly passed away. I understand the specialty of this song!
I've loved this song since I was really little - I'm 51 now and it reminds me of my ex husband who I was with for 16 years, broke up in 2004. Real LOVE never fades away just like true love :) for all u couples out there who love this song be romantic as long as you can! !
My parents got married to this song. They were married for 25 years and divorced 4 years ago. Tears me apart to hear this song now.
To bad...
sorry to hear that
Sibyl Heyman so sorry for your sadness
After 25 years? That is so sad.
so sorry for this...
may I ask what the reason for the divorce was?
