Tuli, l fink grocery stores are more expensive than open markets But we also find the stores much cleaner and with much more selection. You find grocery stores to be more convenient too. This is another very enjoyable and informative video. Thank you again for sharing.
Wow huge stores . Full of assorted food items and choices . Very convenient . Can't wait to explore more , next year .. thanks for d video savvy expat. 👍🏼👍🏼♥️Cheers
Awesome! I find myself checking TH-cam frequently to see your next vlog. My wife and I have been looking at Uptown Park Suites condos. What are your thoughts on the property? We love the location because everything is right there including St. Luke’s hospital, the malls, food and yes, Landers! You are the guy!!! Keep up the great work. Again, a future in journalism? U got skillz. 🇵🇭👍🏾. Merry Christmas! Mark
You tha man Mark! Thanks for your support. As for the Uptown Parksuites condos I've seen so far, they're modern and nice. Nothing overdone and all that you could really ask for, especially in terms of location. It's at the heart of everything in Uptown and still walking distance from places like High Street, Sm Aura, and Burgos Circle. Also, great nightlife. Definitely a great place to check out some options. And as for journalism... 😂 time will tell. I guess this is my little journalism gig at the moment! Merry Christmas to you and you family Mark. God bless.
@@TheSavvyExpat thanks for the shout out. We’re excited to get there in 2022….hopefully. This COVID appears to have no end in the foreseeable months. Keep fresh material coming….we’re watching what you’ve got up next 🇵🇭👍🏾✌🏾
Great video, as usual! You showed on the meats, but on the veggies, fruit and snacks could you show more prices next time. I like to compare prices. Thank you, Friend!
Outstanding meat coverage! I was more than surprised to see the range of choices. They looked pretty good from what I can tell. Like others have commented , would love to see prices on other items like fruits/veggies, sundries, etc. if you ever want to make a supplementary detailed sweep on the store. Another great video!
@@TheSavvyExpat ...oh not at all, you can't cover it all...besides, if it was me, I would have just stayed in the meat section the whole time lol, seriously, another great video, keep up the great work!
Those foreign supermarkets you mentioned are nowhere near Landers. Aldi is just very ordinary. I live in Europe and I know which ones are for ordinary people, or those with less cash Thanks for featuring Landers.
I'm curious what the difference might be in Milk here in the States compared to the Philippines? Im looking at a possible move when I retire and being a farm kid I grew up on whole milk
The difference is night and day. Like you, I so grew up drinking lots of milk but the local milk brands have an odd unnatural taste to it. However, if you go to special stores with imported products, and are willing to pay more, you can find milk close to U.S Standard.
Man, I remember how the prices of appliances were so expensive there! We ended up sending a microwave to our friends there because it was a lot cheaper to send a cheap, used microwave via pasalubong box rather than them buy a new microwave there! I remember finding blue label at our local walmart 😂😂😂 Your beef prices are almost identical to ours in California. Your selection obviously is less (tbh, it sucks), but the prices are nearly the same! Do you know how to grill it yourself? If not, you NEED to learn because 1. You can save $ and 2. Girls are impressed by it!
True, appliances are so expensive here. But you're right, meat prices are pretty much the same with inflation in the U.S. And I do know how to grill, especially because chicks dig it and I love to eat!
Why are the prices similar to groceries here in California? I might as well retire here where I've already made family and friends. The relatives I have in the Philippines have become strangers. Edit: My hubby and I are trying to figure the price per kg of any meat there because that’s the only way we’d know if retiring in BGC is worth leaving behind Cali.
Nowadays, with such high inflation in the U.S, prices of meat in the Philippines is practically the same. Whether it be pork, beed, or chicken, it's similar prices. Before you guys move to the Philippines, I recommend you stay here for a couple of weeks. If there's one thing I noticed moving here, you never get a true taste of the the pros and cons of the Philippines unless you actually spend some time here.
Landers is top of the line grocery. Rustans are the sane. Puregold SM hypermart are cheaper. The local market or palengke or wet market are way cheaper but not as clean. You cook it well and it should be safe.
Anything imported to the Philippines is expensive. Do what I do, when I come back to America I load up on the stuff for I put a bunch of stuff in my suitcase that I can eat the. Philippines is cheap but not if you buy American stuff there
Very common for most of the world. It just depends on how each country decides to sanitize eggs against salmonella. Both techniques are about equally effective. In the US we use a technique to wash the eggs before shipping, which also removes a protective thin film. The eggs must then be refrigerated. Washed Ref eggs shelf life = 45 days, non-washed eggs = 21 days. It just wasn't realistic 50 years ago in most places to handle the task required to wash, transport, and keep eggs refrigerated for extended periods of time. The unrefrigerated eggs are fine, just be careful when handling the shells. Wash your hands after touching them.
There are many locals that shop at Landers, but only the very high income earners. The minimum wage in Manila is less than 600 pesos per day (~12 dollars). With that income, they still have to pay for rent, utilities, xportation, etc. And there are millions in Manila who earn that much. One wouldn’t spend a day’s earnings on a steak.

The meat is cheaper in Php than in New Zealand by 40% in some cases looking at this video.

U r a very nice young man great mall like here in orange county ca
Thanks Walde!
Did you see any catfish (hito)?
I didn't. Maybe their fish selection changes.
Is Landers affiliated or a subsidiary of Costco? I couldn't help but notice the Kirkland Signature label on a few products.
Hello do they have organic vegetables and organic meat at landers?
yes

@@bayareatanders agreed
From my experience, western food in PI is not any cheaper than what u find in America.
Meats are very inexpensive there. Especially T-bone. I would buy them all out. Lol T-bone here in the US is about 25 bucks on the small side
is that because of the inflation now?
Is that in cebu?
No BGC is in Metro Manila
can you go in without membersip?
My family got a one day pass just to check the stuff out but you do need a membership. It costs $20 or 1,000 pesos.
First pa sharawt naman jan😅
Thanks for tuning in :)
How much is the rent to live there?
It can range as low as $500 and as high as $3,000
Thanks! What do you have in BGC that compares with Avalon, across from Ayala Mall, in Cebu? That’s my favorite place in the Philippines.

Surprise to see that the eggs aren’t refrigerated…..or is it?
No they're not refrigerated. That's actually quite common from what I've seen here. Kinda weird.
Same in Thailand, Not refrigerated
Same in Singapore not refrigerated.

Who can afford that store...not locals I bet
