Came for the hair, stayed for the finance
Every single time!
You’re right about socials. I deleted all social media except for TH-cam and I want almost nothing.
Tae, you need to make a video “how do I get my significant other to stop buying things”!
I do shop thrifts on discount days. But with a budget. Most weeks, I beat that total. It’s dawned on me that except for groceries, prescriptions, and seasonal needs, I’m almost never in retail or even discount stores. I also use my library and exercise and garden. Shopping in person or online isn’t something I do recreationally anymore.
Love your videos Tae. Thanks so much and keep them coming!!! I have used Aura for a long time now, and they've been very good. Glad they're a sponsor.
My rule: No online shopping past 9 pm. helped much more than I thought it would~
Thanks!
#6 is number 1 for me.
Great info 👍 👌
The answer is, have your WHY! If you don't have a reason, you won't do it. Do you want to retire as early as possible? Do you want to go on a vacation to "X"? Do you want that Tesla? If you have a goal that you REALLY want, something to save for, you will not stop buying things you don't need, but you will greatly reduce the amount of crap you buy. Hope this helps!
Great list. My favorite is how many hours does this cost me. I like your personal examples with your kids and family as I am in a similar situation. I enjoy your sense of humor. :)
I agree with everything but avoiding book deals. I don’t think I’m strong enough to stop myself.
Your hair is amazing…like for real. The finance info is good too. 😂
My three favorite channels: Tae Kim, Stock Brotha, & How Money Works. Make my week complete! 🔥 🔥 🔥
Needed this vid lol
My #1 hack: Don't take a shopping cart.
Might not work for everyone or everywhere, but helps me save on a regular basis. Notice how grocery stores put chocolates in your face before veggies, just ignore the sweet temptation and fill your hands with stuff you need, not want.
Anyways, great video!!!
Maybe books are a bad example of indulgence. Sure you can go to the library if you’re just reading fiction or newer pop-lit, non-fiction “self-improvement”. But, if you found a first edition of a classic for a couple bucks or a hard to find, out of print book; then you should buy it. My point is that a personal library is an investment.
You went full pompadour in the latest thumb.
#6 Wait! I thought I was the only one doing that. I wait at least a week before buying something. 95% of the time I lose interest in the item and never buy it.
TLDW: Avoid the many methods of Capitalist Consumer Conditioning out there. Easier said than done, but worth the effort.
That croissant hairstyle!
We are pretty rich and comfortable with our finances. We still suffer from buying great deals that are 50-75%+ percent off...mostly food....our pantry is too full and now food is stored here and there. Sigh.
I used to be good at avoiding buying useless stuff ... but recently I see discount stores selling new anime prize figures for low price, I ...
I'm guilty about the buying when you're tired or hungry lmao 😂
This video debuted just as I bought some crocs I didn't need :(
Came for the Hair. Left to get gel.
First?
The old saying goes…. The higher the hair the closer to god! 😁and we get some good advice on top of it all
Tip to stop spending money - stop trying to keep up with the Joneses.
Stop buying things to impress other people or just because the neighbours or friends have it.
Pro-tip - nobody cares, stop trying to impress them. People are too wrapped up in their own lives to really care if you have the latest fashion shirt.
