    One of my absolutelly favourite films!

    Wonderful film! The shallow script was fully eclipsed by the cinematography and the atmosphere. The interaction of Mark and Daria within the desert landscapes was, by itself, worth the price of admission!
    Being alive during those days gives one the added benefit of both insight and also hindsight. One thing for sure, they'll never come again!

    both of the young leads, I believe, met unfortunate, early demises. they were the result of an intensive nationwide search, if memory serves me. the male in particular, died in prison, in a weight room under mysterious circumstances.

    Matter is only subatomic particles , energy wavelets. It' isn't an apocalyptic vision. A Reality that many spiritual traditions have spoken of. And Quantum physics recently come to the conclusion to. Antonioni weaving this into the destruction of the exploitative capitalist order and the birth of the New Age is brilliance. Pink Floyd punctuating this END with transformative music. The 60's counterculture brought the Age of Aquarius into western consciousness. And NOW ( 21st December 2020) we have finally transitioned into the AGE OF AQUARIUS.

      if the age of aquarius turned out to be the age of covid and rampant hostility, you were on point. if you meant otherwise, i don't think your comment could have been any further from the truth, i'm sorry

      " Antonioni weaving this into the destruction of the exploitative capitalist order and the birth of the New Age is brilliance." Thats a cool interpretation, dude. Why do you think its only DARIA that has this apocalyptic vision?

    IMHO, the MARK character is actually a covert intel mole infiltrating the student movement (dude eventually goes rogue and dies). The entire opening credits scene is shot from the POV of a surveillance team spying on a Student Action Committee meeting.

    • @k.t.5405

      @@rafe7678 IMHO, the underlying theme of Zabriski Point seems so be an encroaching electronic surveillance State (establishment) vis a vis the US counter culture movement (forces of change)...Like Daria says when reading the monument at Zabriski Point "ancient lake beds pushed up by Earth forces". Its an ancient societal struggle that has no real resolution. But I believe the Daria character points the way on how to begin untying this societal Gordian Knot... The ending is fkn' SPECTACULAR! min 11:25 Literally the END of traditional knowledge.

      they don't...she doesn't blow it up ..she just imagines it blowing up ..its symbolic of her rejection of materialism and excess as she leaves it behind ...plus its about the juxtaposition of values with actions of youth

      @@silverkitty2503 I agree, there's two visions of the future here : Daria and Mark's. Unfortunately, its Mark's dark ideology that leads him to a dead end...But Daria's vision is fkn' SPECTACULAR! min 11:25 Literally the END of traditional knowledge.

    Big Antonioni fan... this is one of the worse movies I ever saw. The 'youth cant' is embarrassing now and the 'view of America' is absurdly skewed.

    • @mstwilight1612
      @mstwilight1612 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why? It’s still true. More than ever. America’s wheeling the whole world into hell and destruction, sponsoring terrorists and nazis, making money by selling deathly weapon to Ukraine

      Oh, right, Antonioni should have had a post credits scene where everyone recites the pledge of allegiance for the sake of balance. Did someone stick your head in a microwave as a kid?
