At about 14:40 where you select the erased section is something that always bothers me. The lines of the eraser keep their place but invisibly. It annoys me extremly. So much, that I prefer the select mode for erasing... However it seems, as they have fixed it a little bit. I tried it and most of the time there were no residue, only sometimes. You think they'll fix that some day? ^^
I think their response made it kinda clear that so far, they don't consider it a problem or a priority. This update kinda confirms that, since it didn't change the behavior at all, at least on my unit. For me the Epub formatting optimization would be a bigger priority than adding a new font. But the tool switching is really drastically faster, and that's a very nice thing to see :)
@@MyDeepGuide it is! The whole thing with those jagged lines is that they have always been so worried about details and beauty, from the hardware to the packaging. It surprises me that they wouldn't care about it - which is such a big deal for so many people.

I'm glad you're still posting content for RM2 after finding true love with the Note Air. Despite its obvious imperfections, I'm still hoping RM2 is the device for me, if it ever gets into my hands.
The good point for me about remarkable 2 against Note Air it's that remarkable has their own dedicated OS for a better stable dedicated experience. But if remarkable doesn't care or do not improve their O.S better then what we just saw in this "remarkable" Vojislav video I begin to wonder what's the point of having a remarkable 2 if Note Air do everything better then remarkable 2. Writing experience, maybe I could simply buy the remarkable 2 pen after Christmas and here we go the only problem of note air has been fixed.
@@gabrieltardif7660 You could already use the nib and don't need to wait for the pen. But as a Air user that cancelled the rM2 before trying (environmental reason and aome others) I would guess you only reach 80% of the overall rM feel.

Speaking of, I wonder have you noticed the thin dark grey racer stripe on reMarkable 2? It's very subtle. I didn't even notice it myself until I saw your Boox Note Air review (where you laud the orange racer stripe). I wonder if Boox borrowed that design hint from reMarkable.
@@MyDeepGuide When holding rM2 in normal position (facing you, upright) look to the bottom right corner ("right" being the side the pen attaches). You'll see a dark grey stripe on the bottom about an inch left of the corner, and on the right/pen side slightly closer to the corner. Sorry I don't have a ruler handy for exact measurements.
Those are not design details. These are plastic outlets to allow the wireless signals to go out and come in undisturbed or blocked by the metal chassis.

But I am not using a microscope and know nothing about WiFi signal demands. Possible the Boox Note Air uses that orange racer stripe (or some of the striping) for the same reason? Better WiFi connectivity?
No, their design detail is on the back and it's a paint stripe. On the sides, it also has the same "slots" as do all of the metal phones. It's the only way to have normal signals with a metal unibody design.
I am so glad I didn't go for this E-ink tablet.... Thank to your help, Voja, I purchased the Boox Max Lumi, and I love it! Just ashame the screen protector wasn't preapplied :/

A great analysis on their update. Seems to be a small incremental. I just ordered the Boox Nova 3 as it will suite my needs better. I also want to get it quicker than Remarkable can ship the RM2 Hopefully it will arrive in a couple of weeks. I have the Remarkable 1 for work. It is great for my needs at work, note taking and PDF reading. I am really looking fwd to actually seeing the difference in writing and user experience. Your reviews on the Boox products were mucho important in making my decision.
Hey Voja. What struck my eye in the pdf comparison is basically two things: 1. Con: after the update it's massively slower 2. Pro: while on the 2.3 Update you get a 4 second loading screen after the 2.4 Update you get an immediate low res preview and could probably already work on it. So I think that's probably the reason for the slower loading that it preloads low res versions of adjacent pages...
The preview feature has been present from long before. It's just that on very heavy images, sometimes it would or wouldn't appear, but that's not a new functionality.

Changed my mind shortly after purchase and got only part of the refund back: they roll down their bank fees to the customer!!! Absolute disgrace, be careful people, boycott such business practices and avoid them at all costs.

Hello. Great video. I have a question. Did you have problems trying to change the new font ? I my case, never can do it with EBGaramond font. Even more the tablet crushes. I don't believe the new update is better than the original version.
does anybody have problem with the eraser. I try to select it but it doesn't do anything. It's definitely not the surface because I change it lanscape mode. It still doesn't work. I think there is something wrong with the new update🙁
One bug is that if you have a drawing or writing and then open the Layer menu so it comes on top of the drawing parts of the menu get stuck on the drawing after closing the menu. I can see thrash cans on top although it is faded. Have to go to next page and back to get it to update the drawing. I notice this with the pencil menu too. Do you also get this issue? Notice on RM1 that you can see the menus as white imprints in a blank background. I don't see this on RM2
It really depends on the number of operations you did, because it refreshes the screen on specific operations (such as changing pages) and after a specific number of operations (i don't know how many). But this is completely normal behavior for an e-ink device and not a bug. It would help if reMarkable had a manual refresh gesture to use, but I guess even that is considered a distraction by the developers.
Hi, How is your battery life? I notice my battery percentage (reMarkable 2) has gone down 70% over the past 3,5 days, and I will never get to 14 days on one charge...

What is your prefer device between boox note 3 and the remarkable 2 ? Because I get my remarkable 2 on Tuesday and I'm afraid that i made the wrong choice when I saw all the problems of the remarkable
You need to decide which device is best for your own needs and preferences. For my own needs it's neither. I prefer the Note Air, but as you can see, some people will prefer rM2, some Note Air, some Note 3 some Nova 3, some Supernote A6X and some Papyr. It's a very individual thing and you have to make up your own mind what works best for you.
@@MrBigjo06 Again depending on your use case but mainly: - RM2: best paper & pen experience. - Note Air: Overall functionality. - Note 3: Total performer. As for a first time e-ink device owner I guess any of them would wow any of us, as long as they fit our primary needs. My personal choice was Note 3 because I value its Android 10 system, hardware specs and sleek design including a pen with eraser (via side button and pen cap end).
Loading of a user manual document of a Hercules (brand) product, that has a very high resolution image for the front page of the document. That makes it a very demanding load for the device, so I call it Hercules load, as it's a test of loading the Hercules user manual :)
Try plugging it off and back in when it seemingly stops charging at some percentage. Mine stops at 81% percent, it seems (charged it only 2 time so far), but when I plug it off and again in it continues to charge to 100% fairly quickly
I had this problem when I was charging my device from a laptop, once I charge it with a charger it solved. But I had also a problem with the battery dropping from 100% to 98% the moment I was removing it from the charger and I reported it at remarkable, and they told me to test it how many hours it lasts if you turn off all the power saving options off and let it open in idle without using it. And it only stayed on for 17hours, and they told me that my battery might be defective and that it should last more. They did not told me how much more though.
They didn't release the source code of the software for the community... unfortunately... just the kernel sources etc (they have to as it's GPL code). The main application is still proprietary :/

Yes, there are some speed ups, but very strange the behaviour of your book. Seems to load the image partly, but then it hangs for a long time to finish up. Their answer to the jagged line problem seems to be that they knew about it and won't commit to fixing it because they believe most users do not mind. :-(
So disappointing. What's the point of releasing such an update? It only frustrates customers. I have got a RM2 but your videos on the Note Air and Boox 3 convinced me that Onyx seems to respond better and quicker to the customers' concerns.
@@Jan-wt7ld If I had to make a choice now, I would order Note Air, given Voja's review. It is a shame as I like the story of the Remarkable company and part of me wishes they succeed. But lack of communication and so many mistakes on the software side are less and less tolerable...
I live in Norway and the remarkable is a Norwegian company, yes, but it is made and shipped from China, like anything else really. To me it makes no difference, but some people do care about that, so best to mention it :)
Fairly disappointing update. Why won't they add split screen landscape reading?? It seems like an obvious feature - I'm tempted to modify the source code myself
I'm sorry, but the very idea that their software team is capable of implementing a split screen functionality is not realistic. They are unable to address some of the simplest of the issues or lacking functionalities, so yeah. I don't think that's something that will happen at all, or maybe in the distant future. I hope I'm wrong, but so far, i see no indications that they are capable, or willing to do that.
@@MyDeepGuide Will you be doing a comparison video between the RM2 and Note Air? I think those set on the RM2 will stick with the RM2 no matter what; but there might still be a population of people in the undecided zone or in the zone of not knowing the real difference and being mislead by the RM hype. Your comparison video can really help some people make purchasing decisions at this time with some special holiday offers floating around.

@Snowflake at some point yes, but I'm going through the devices right now to clear that stuff off my plate, and then I can focus on comparisons etc. Also, my Note Air review has the comparison note going through it, on a basic but complete level, so a lot can be seen there. Basically, I'm under enough stress as it is, so I'm definitely not going to prioritize any kind of timing with holidays or anything like that, since this is a side thing for me and not a job, and i have quite a lot on my plate, work wise, until the end of the year, I'll be doing videos in a specific order and at a set pace that i can do under these circumstances.

This tablet is GREY. The screen is nothing like as white as a sheet of paper, and nothing like as white as shown in your reviews or any of the other reviews on TH-cam.
I don't know what kind of settings you have on your screen, but my video most definitely doesn't show it as white, not even close. Have you considered the option that it could be your screen or that you are assuming that the brightest thing you see on the screen is white, when in fact it is gray?
Wow, what a disappointment, as the buyer of the device, i would be extremely angry right now. I suspect you are not the only one who has raised the most pressing and obvious problems of the Remarkable 2. it would be so easy for the manufacturer to make all users happy by simply eliminating the problems piece by piece - but no, they ignore the wishes and complaints of the users, that is simply unbelievable. They shouldn't be surprised when potential buyers, like me, buy from the competition.
Oh, it gets much worse on a bigger book, like Count Of Monte Cristo. And each parameter change introduces a new subsequent equal wait out of which you cannot escape. Madness.

I'm just "impressed" that every update is now a new version in their little bubbled up world, regardless of how small the fixes are. I just can't get over the fact that a performance update, minor improvements of existing functionalities and bug fixes are not 2.3.1, but are actually a jump to a new version. That practice alone says A LOT about the mentality of the development team there, and yeah, the message isn't good.

Both devices were restarted after the updates. I always do that, just in case, i like to have the device nice and clean after an update.

That's not a bug, that's ghosting of an e-ink screen. Completely normal behavior of the technology.

The update features didn't mention anything new about the battery performance, so i didn't test it on the 2.4 update.

I use a Garamond semibold on my old Kobo. For me, it's by far the best font family for reading.

I assume the onyx only changes the font size on the page you're on and is continues to change them in the background while you continue to read it

Yes, there are some speed ups, but very strange the behaviour of your book. Seems to load the image partly, but then it hangs for a long time to finish up. Their answer to the jagged line problem seems to be that they knew about it and won't commit to fixing it because they believe most users do not mind. :-(
That's normal behavior for the reMarkable, it loads up first a low resolution preview of an image and then continues on to loading the entire image.

So disappointing. What's the point of releasing such an update? It only frustrates customers. I have got a RM2 but your videos on the Note Air and Boox 3 convinced me that Onyx seems to respond better and quicker to the customers' concerns.
i just tried changing the font size on my onyx boox note 2 and tgat works instantly. really happy i did not preorder a rm2
@@Jan-wt7ld If I had to make a choice now, I would order Note Air, given Voja's review. It is a shame as I like the story of the Remarkable company and part of me wishes they succeed. But lack of communication and so many mistakes on the software side are less and less tolerable...

I live in Norway and the remarkable is a Norwegian company, yes, but it is made and shipped from China, like anything else really. To me it makes no difference, but some people do care about that, so best to mention it :)

Fairly disappointing update. Why won't they add split screen landscape reading?? It seems like an obvious feature - I'm tempted to modify the source code myself
I'm sorry, but the very idea that their software team is capable of implementing a split screen functionality is not realistic. They are unable to address some of the simplest of the issues or lacking functionalities, so yeah. I don't think that's something that will happen at all, or maybe in the distant future. I hope I'm wrong, but so far, i see no indications that they are capable, or willing to do that.
@@MyDeepGuide Will you be doing a comparison video between the RM2 and Note Air? I think those set on the RM2 will stick with the RM2 no matter what; but there might still be a population of people in the undecided zone or in the zone of not knowing the real difference and being mislead by the RM hype. Your comparison video can really help some people make purchasing decisions at this time with some special holiday offers floating around.

@Snowflake at some point yes, but I'm going through the devices right now to clear that stuff off my plate, and then I can focus on comparisons etc. Also, my Note Air review has the comparison note going through it, on a basic but complete level, so a lot can be seen there.
Basically, I'm under enough stress as it is, so I'm definitely not going to prioritize any kind of timing with holidays or anything like that, since this is a side thing for me and not a job, and i have quite a lot on my plate, work wise, until the end of the year, I'll be doing videos in a specific order and at a set pace that i can do under these circumstances.

This tablet is GREY. The screen is nothing like as white as a sheet of paper, and nothing like as white as shown in your reviews or any of the other reviews on TH-cam.
I don't know what kind of settings you have on your screen, but my video most definitely doesn't show it as white, not even close. Have you considered the option that it could be your screen or that you are assuming that the brightest thing you see on the screen is white, when in fact it is gray?

Wow, what a disappointment, as the buyer of the device, i would be extremely angry right now. I suspect you are not the only one who has raised the most pressing and obvious problems of the Remarkable 2. it would be so easy for the manufacturer to make all users happy by simply eliminating the problems piece by piece - but no, they ignore the wishes and complaints of the users, that is simply unbelievable. They shouldn't be surprised when potential buyers, like me, buy from the competition.

Oh, it gets much worse on a bigger book, like Count Of Monte Cristo. And each parameter change introduces a new subsequent equal wait out of which you cannot escape. Madness.

I'm just "impressed" that every update is now a new version in their little bubbled up world, regardless of how small the fixes are. I just can't get over the fact that a performance update, minor improvements of existing functionalities and bug fixes are not 2.3.1, but are actually a jump to a new version. That practice alone says A LOT about the mentality of the development team there, and yeah, the message isn't good.
