Adrian Wojnarowski then reports that the Dallas Mavericks agreed to trade up to acquire the No. 3 pick (Doncic) from the Hawks in exchange for the No. 5 pick and a future first-round pick (protected). With that pick, Dallas selected Trae Young to send to Atlanta.

I'm a Dallas fan and this was the best outcome for the Mavs. Luka was playing against grown men, ex NBA level talent, 2nd best pro league in the world in the Euroleague. I'd take a dude with more experience (pro at 15) in the 2nd best league in the world, winning Finals MVP and Euroleague championship over any NCAA prospect.

There were a lot of examples of Euro players failing at that time when they came over. Guys like Luka, Giannis, Jokic and others have completely shattered that braindead narrative and the Euro players get the respect they deserve. Now if any player was Euroleague MVP as a teenager they'd probably be the consensus #1 pick in the draft.

Huge Mavs fan. Last season was a ton of fun watching different players develop. I know they will play all sorts of lineups but i personally can't wait to see DSJ, Doncic, Barnes,Powell, Jordan. So much athleticism and good size. Jordan can anchor so well, they might have found exactly what Powell needs. Barnes excels best at the 3 his offense will flow because he isn't grinding at the 4 on D against guys like Davis etc. He's a great passer not an assist passer and Doncic gets assists so that will be great for Barnes. He's an underrated guy, playing good ball on a bad team. But big props to tons of fans and nba announcers around the league i hear people praise his ISO game a lot and it's well deserved. If the 3 fell like it used to he'd of averaged 24 ppg. Doncic presence is going space the floor even more. Barnes can pick his spots and DSJ can find open lanes. Bigs will be so busy worrying about everything else and Powell and Jordan will be lob city. The Mavs are going to be a fun team to watch for any NBA fan.
