BBC Wheater blows most wheaters away in all honestly. It’s proof and palate are perfectly balanced. The palate is delicious with a good finish. I will reach for it over pretty much any other wheater. It is so good….
I have all of these in my house right now -- tempted to line them up and blind them. I just found the Bardstown for the first time on shelves this weekend-- was definitely excited to try it! They've been doing some great work.
Weller Green is a shelfer here in Oz. The 12 and Antique are available as well here. I agree with Zach the 12 year is my favourite, and the best news in Australia is it has dropped a fair bit in price. Have my latest unopened on the shelf, cost $140 US. Antique 107 is still secondary price though. Buffalo Trace have looked after us over here. Good idea to blind some wheaters. More blinds please boys!
Weller Special Reserve is everywhere for dirt cheap here in Texas. But when I lived in Arizona last year it didn’t exist except for $200-$400 on dusty shelves.
The lean on 12 had me distracted 😂 but in all seriousness, I appreciate this blind and tired of not finding any A107 (and I have the Bardstown) so I’m content staying in this lane.
This is Dave’s place. Nice I like the new look. Yes Weller is good but very hard to get in my area so I go Bardstown all day long. I’m a big fan of the bib wheater from Bardstown and actually the origin series period. And honestly I go with MM cask because it’s a great pour and always available. Just saying.🥃🥃🥃
Red in Ohio is pretty findable. Six weeks-eight weeks depending on the rotation, it drops like a charm. Just gotta be willing to tater or hope your store gets more than 12 and wholesale doesn't need any. Green sits. Just use the website, go buy some at a store, easy. Do it all the time. Weller 12 I have been hunting now for a year and have not seen in a single drop or a single lottery in Ohio. We even just had our "Single Barrel Saturday" where they surprise dropped WT70th and WFP alongside all the good "store pick state pick" single barrels. I think Full Proof dropped last Single Barrel Saturday as well. But literally have not seen 12 released here in our control state. Which is wild considering we see Red OFTEN. Our lottery even had CYPB and Single Barrel at MSRP. I've seen three Single Barrel drops and not a single Weller 12 drop. The lowest I've seen it anywhere was $160 in KY. My unicorns I really want: a STORE pick Weller Green and W12 both. I've only ever seen two store pick Weller Greens reviewed ever, one on YT and one on reddit, and the tasting notes sounded incredible. I have a single barrel Buffalo Trace 375 from the distillery and it absolutely beats the heck out of shelf BT. Couldn't imagine a single barrel of Green.
Bardstown is still rolling out near Denver, but is getting easier to find every week. Weller SR is hard to find at MSRP. The other two Wellers are tough to find unless you want to pay double or more.
In a blind head to head i picked the Bardstown over the 107. Need to do it again but the Bardstown had more flavor and was sweeter. I even though it was the 107.
I know I’m in the minority here, but the Bardstown “high wheat” falls really flat for me. It’s very bready and doesn’t do anything for me. I had high expectations based from all of the bourbon tube reviews. I would take MM Cask Strength any day, for an everyday wheater. Great review guys.
Weller in Mass is weird. We get FP picks out the wazoo. I am sitting on a pile, but can never get the rest. For the rest you have to camp, get lucky by attending events or winning a raffle, or pay high secondary prices. That includes SR.
Luckily we just finally started getting BBC distributed here within the last couple of months, so I’ll take the victory there. Picked up all the Origin Series and am very happy with them.
What would you say is the average price on a full proof pick out there and are they usually to the big chain stores there or how does it work? Never even been to Mass but I'm a Boston Celtics die-hard so it would be worth a trip to go to a Celtics game AND hunt for a FP pick lol.
Great blind. I also think that there is such a stronghold of bourbon "drinkers" that could care less. Fact is one is mostly available and the others are highly allocated and that's all A LOT of people care about.
There is zero reason to go nuts and chase after the Weller series of you can find the Bardstown tan label and Holliday soft red wheat. The BH is way better than Weller SR and the tan label is better than antique 107.
Not even close to the same imo. Bardstown is so muted. Not in a bad way just really really muted and soft even more on the nose. Weller isn’t like that.

Bardstown wheat is 45 plus tax in LA and on the shelf we never ever see Weller at MSRP here love the Bardstown easy sipper

Great blind guys! I've tried this recently and came out the same as Zach. 👍🏾
I did this exact blind and Bardstown won for me with Antique in a close 2nd
Weller is a unicorn bottle here in NorCal. If you see one, guaranteed it’s triple digits in price.
I have all 4 of these. I have weller full proof as well.

Did the same, Weller 12 did win in my blind.

I need to try this blind, I think my results would be like Dave's. Except for the 107 I can find these bottles easily in my market.
Castle and key barrel proof wheated is really really good
I refuse to believe it!! Lol😂
I’ve got to settle on the Bardstown bourbon wheater because I don’t like special reserve. any other Weller in my area is so severely marked up.
There is a Liquor Store in Upland, IN selling Whistle Pig Boss Hog for $585.00
All my glens go in the dishwasher. Best way to clean them without shining them

I can’t even get the Bardstown
Really wanting to find a W12 for a decent price.
It’s nothing special… definitely don’t pay more than $100 for it at the absolute max. Was very disappointed when I got a bottle
Should never use detergent on your Glens
Please explain why not to use a dishwasher or detergent on glens.
